Chapter 511
Sweet Subterfuge
Kevan responded with a grunt and said to Larissa, âWell weâre off.â
Larissa knew that she couldnât stop Aster, so she let them off the hook.
âOkay, drive sale,â she cautioned with a nod.
It was Asterâs first time riding in Kevanâs car.
He sat obediently in the middle of the backseat, with his hands neatly folded on his knees.
âUncle Kevan, Iâm feeling very happy,â he said to Kevan.
Hearing that Kevan glanced at Aster through the rearview mirror. âWhy is that?â
Aster smiled widely âBecause youâre sending me to kindergarten!â
After that, his smile faded and he asked cautiously, âBy the way, Uncle Kevan If my teacher asks about who you are, can I say that youâre my daddy?â
When Kevan heard Aster refer to him as his âDaddyâ, his chest tightened inexplicably.
Instinctively, he gripped the steering wheel, nearly flooring the accelerator.
Suppressing the overwhelming joy and heartache that welled up within him. Kevan replied in a calm voice. âOf course.â
Aster clenched his fists tightly and whooped inwardly, overjoyed at Kevanâs answer.
âWhat about my classmates? Can I tell them the same thing?â he asked again.
âSure, no problem.â If it were up to Kevan, this would be common knowledge. He was eager for the whole world to know the truthâonly after he managed to deal with those hidden threats within the Rogers family.
A wide smile spread across Asterâs face as he urged Kevan excitedly. âUncle Kevan, drive faster! Drive faster!â
As soon as they got out of the car, Aster held Kevanâs hand voluntarily.
Unlike his usual posture, he held his head high and straightened his back, strutting proudly with wide, confident steps.
Asterâs amusing antics made Kevan laugh.
They arrived at the peak hour for parents to drop off their children at the kindergarten.
The entrance of the kindergarten was extremely crowded with people.
Sounds of children shouting and laughing could be heard from the crowd, causing a racket.
Kevanâs physical appearance was remarkably handsome. As soon as he appeared, he became the center of attention.
Many of the mothers were mesmerized by his attractiveness.
Children of both genders, regardless of age, were staring at Kevan, transfixed.
Some of the girls even pointed to him and exclaimed, âMommy, that man over there is so handsome!â
Hearing such praise, Aster stuck his nose into the air, floating on cloud nine.
Some of his classmates purposely came over to talk to him, âAster, who is this with you?â
Aster replied proudly, âHe is my daddy!â
Kevan looked upon Aster with affection and patiently greeted each of his classmates, as well as exchanged pleasantries with other parents.
Finally, they reached Asterâs classroom. Ella was waiting at the door.
When she saw Kevan, she was momentarily stunned.
Aster socke up before Kevan could respond. âMs. Gilmore, he is my daddy!â
His voice was very loud, as if he wanted everyone present to hear him.
Ella was taken aback at this revelation.
Previously, Larissa was the only person who picked up and dropped Aster oft thatâs why she assumed that Aster was from a singleâparent family.
Thus, she paid extra care and attention to Aster as compared to other children.
Ella never expected that Aster had a dad and such a handsome one at that â
âHello, rice to meet you!â Ella flashed a shy smile.
âHello, Iâll place Aster in your care.â Kevan said, smiling openly in return.
