Sweet Subterfuge
Chapter 377
It felt as if the entire sky had come crashing cown. Larissaâs head throbbed as it struck by a heavy object leaving her feeling dizzy and slightly sore. The only sound she could hear was a continuous buzzing in her ears, and her vision gradually became blurred, Suddenly. everything went black, and she lost consciousress completely.
When she reganed consciousness, she found herself lying in a bed. The scent of disinfectant in the air reminded her that she was still the hospital. She turned her head and saw Kevan lying motionless on the bed next to he resembling alleless, delicate puppet. Her nose Lingled, and lears weled up once again
After some time, she managed to calm herself down. She peeked out from under the covers and noticed that Dylan was also present. She hastily used the back of her hand to wipe away the remaining trar stains on her face. She sniffled and asked him, âWhen did you get here?â
âAbout three or four minutes ago,â he replied, his eyes lilled with sympathy, pity, and empathy as he looked at her. âDonât be too upset. The doctor mortored that thereâs still a high probability of Kevan waking up.â
She sat up and stared blankly at Kevan, but there was no indkation of him waking up at all. She couldnât muster the same optimism as
Dylan,
âHey Dylan sat down at the end of her bed and asked tentatively, âDo you actually have feelings for Kevan?â
Ever since Kever had been shot she had remained by his side without leaving for a moment. She had cried uncontrollably at the thought of him not waking up. Although Dylan himself had never experienced a serious relationship, he could sense that she harbored feelings for Kevan Unfortunately, Kevan was in a coma and therefore unable to personally witness her love for him.
His sudder question caught her off guard, causing her heart to race, and her lace lushed instantly. She lowered her head nervously. fearing he would detect something amiss.
âWho told you that I like him? I donât like him she retorted stubbornly. âI just feel sorry for him! He attended his cousinâs wedding with such joy, only to end up like this..
âIs that so? Cylan narrowed his eyes and observed her carefully. He didnât miss the llecting panic in her eyes, the reddening of her ears a il about to burst, and the tension and trembling in her voice. It was evident she was lying. On one hand, he felt happy for Kevan, but on the
other hand⦠He inwardly sighed. He wondered when Kevan would awaken, allowing both him and Larissa to contess their true feelings to
each other.
Larissa remained steadlast by Kevanâs side, and in turn. Dylan stayed by Larissaâs side. Dylan insisted that she eat, sleep, and occasionally go outside for fresh air, fearing that her health would deteriorate faster than Kevanâs.
However, her condition showed no signs of improvement. Her insomnia worsened, and she could hardly sleep through the night. Consequently. Dylan had no choice but to seek assistance from a doctor, who discreetly prescribed sleeping pills for her and advised him to mix them into the warm milk she drank before he left each night.
