Chapter 215
Sweet Subterfuge
Chapter 215
âTried to seduce? Kevan repeated with a sneer. âDoes my fiancée need to seduce anyone?â
âItâs true! Seeing that he didnât believe her, she dragged Reuben the âwitnessâ into the mess with her.
âReuben, tell Mr. Rogers what exactly happened in your room earlier!â
Although Reuben had never met Kevan, he could tell from his attire and demeanor that he was not an ordinary person. So, when Lana asked him to testify, he hesitated. He had not wanted to be involved in something so vulgar in the first place, and it disgusted him.
Under Kevanâs stern gaze, he felt increasingly guilty. Thus, he chose to remain silent.
When he was quiet for a long time, Lana stomped her foot in frustration and turned to Yvette for help.
Yvette, of course, stood on Lanaâs side.
âLarissa did try to d
âLarissa did try to seduce Reuben,â she said, sounding sad and ashamed.
Larissa had matured after the countless times Yvette had hurt her. Instead of feeling angry or sad, she admired her performance, thinking that Yvetteâs past career as an actress truly paid off. She could effortlessly display any emotion, and it was impossible to tell if she was lying.
However, while she admired her acting skills, she still needed to set the record straight.
âI didnât. It was Reuben who pushed himself on me. Besides, we didnât do anything.â
âStop deceiving Mr. Rogers!â Lana cried. âReuben himself said that you seduced him!â
âWell I just said that I didnât seduce him!â Larissa turned to Lana, disappointment turning into scorn. âAs my sister, shouldnât you believe me instead of a stranger?â
Lana was rendered speechless by her question.
âIâm not âShe tried to form a retort but she failed.
âHow can you say that you didnât seduce Reuben?â Yvette shielded Lana behind her like a protective mother hen, glaring at Larissa. âYou took the opportunity in the study earlier to ask Mr. Cole for a dowry of five million dollars. Donât think weâve forgotten about that!â
Larissa had requested five million dollars just to delay them. Never had she expected Yvette to use it against her.
âDo you only want five million dollars as dowry?â Kevan asked in surprise. âI prepared ten million dollars. What should I do?â He seemed a bit flustered.
His statement caught everyone by surprise. Meanwhile, Yvette and Lana seethed with hatred.
Larissa knew that Kevan was helping her, so she played along with him. âTen million dollars is even better. I donât mind having more
money.â
âGood.â Kevan appeared relieved. âIâll have the money transferred to your account later. When will you go with me to register our marriage?â
âLetâs go after the holidays,â Larissa answered without hesitation.
Kevanâs face lit up with a smile. âItâs a deal.â
The way they settled on the wedding date so quickly caused the people around them to seethe with anger.
âLarissa is my wife! You canât take her away!â
Dorian glared at him. Despite his angry words, he was afraid to approach Kevan alter experiencing his strength.
Frowning. Kevan asked in confusion, âSo, who do you all want Larissa to marry?â
Larissa had been wanting to ask that question. They had drugged her to create an opportunity for Dorlan. They also allowed Reuben to accuse her falsely, forcing her to accept the marriage.
Could it be that it didnât matter it was Dorian or Reuben?
