Sweet Subterfuge
Chapter 194
âHow nice,â he sighed.
Larissaâs heart did a somersault and tears filled her eyes. All of a sudden, she actually regretted that she wasnât really his Lari. She thought that if she was his Lari, she would never have abandoned him even though she had to follow her parentsâ plans. âSleep,â she whispered while patting his back lightly.
âI wonât leave your side.â
Kevan fell asleep very quickly. Larissa was still awake as she counted his long eyelashes and couldnât stop herself from touching his face. His skin was indeed as smooth and tender as she had imagined.
Next time, she really had to ask him what his skincare routine was.
The alarm clock by the bedside showed that it was past 1 am. Larissa got a shock and wanted to get up from the bed, but Kevanâs arms were twined around her waist like vines.
She dared not push them away by force for fear of waking him, but it was useless if she was too gentle.
Just as she was panicking, Kevanâs eyes suddenly flew open, giving her a huge fright. Kevanâs gaze was blank until he saw her. He smiled happily and buried his face against her neck, brushing it against her like a puppy. âYouâre really still here.â His voice was so soft that it was barely audible, but Larissa still heard him. Her heart gave a wild thump, and finally, she sighed softly and closed her eyes in resignation.
Larissa was woken up by Kevan. He yanked her blanket away and picked her up h or izontally, then strode outside. Larissa was still somewhere in dreamland, and her eyes were only open by a slit. Her mind was fuzzy, and she couldnât think straight. Only when Kevan opened the door, and the cold wind made her shiver and sneeze uncontrollably did she slowly sober up. By the time she was fully awake, Kevan was already standing outside her home while carrying her.
He pressed her right thumb against the fingerprint reader and the door opened automatically. Larissa immediately struggled to get down. and said, âThank you for the trouble, Mr. Rogers, but I can walk by myself!â
Kevan looked at her coldly and warned, âDonât move.â
Larissa curled up and dared not make another move.
He walked directly into her bedroom and asked, âWhereâs your household register?â
âWhy do you want my household register?â Larissa didnât know what he was getting at. Kevan put her down and took a folded paper out of his trouser pocket. âDid you write this letter of guarantee?â he asked and waved it in front of her face. Larissa felt as if she had gotten struck by lightning. Dylan, that prankster! Hadnât he said that Kevan wouldnât remember anything that happened while he was drunk?!
Hadnât he said that Kevan wouldnât make her a bide by the letter?! So, what was happening?!
âMr. Shields wrote it.â She tried her best to cast the spotlight away from herself.
Kevan narrowed his eyes and asked, âBut Iâm sure this signature belongs to you, right?â He pointed at the lower right corner of the paper.
âThis this doesnât count,â Larissa said. She was starting to panic. âI can explain what happened last night.â
â¦
âWhat I need isnât an explanation.â Kevan cut her off and said, âElther marry me or be at my disposal.â
Larissa felt as if she had fallen into a trap. She contemplated and weighed her options repeatedly, then said, âI choose the latter.â
âGood.â Kevan smirked and said, âThen grab your household register and Identification card and follow me to the City Hall.â
