Chapter 191
Sweet Subterfuge
Chapter 191
Perhaps the situation was very similar, Larissa took it personally while explaining. However, it was obvious that Kevanâs âLariâ was a lot luckier than she was. At least, the man who wanted to marry her loved her sincerely.
âReally?â Kevanâs expression suddenly grew serious.
For one moment, Larissa nearly thought he was in his right mind. âYesâ¦â She nodded forcefully and said, âI wouldnât lie to you.â
Kevan stared at her intently for a long time as if he were trying to determine if she was telling the truth.
âThen⦠will you leave?â His hand slid down her face to grasp her hand, their fingers interlocked. His palm was warm and Larissaâs heart sk ipped a beat.
She subconsciously used a gentler tone as she said, âI wonât leave.â
âThen when will you marry me?â Kevan asked anxiously, leaning forward with a look of anticipation in his eyes.
This question was
âWhenever you say.â Lying to him once, twice, or thrice made no difference. Larissa spoke steadily. He wouldnât remember anything when he woke up the next morning anyway.
âThen letâs get engaged tomorrow!â Kevan stood up eagerly and bustled about as if he were looking for something.
Larissa didnât take his words seriously at all and asked curiously, âWhat are you looking for?â
âMy phone!â Kevan patted down all his pockets until he finally found his phone in his jacket pocket. âI want to call Dylan and ask him to
come over immediately to write a letter of guarantee!â he said while dialing a number swiftly.
âWhat letter of guarantee?â asked Larissa.
âA letter of guarantee for you agreeing to get engaged to me tomorrow, of course!â Kevan turned around and shot her a hard stare that seemed to say, âYouâre a little liar who always goes back on her word. Iâll worry if I donât make you sign a letter of guarantee.â
Larissa was speechless. She was only trying to console him so that he wouldnât be so upset. She never intended to really involve herself.
While she was still in a daze, Kevan had gotten through to Dylan. âCome over now,â he commanded sternly.
âMy party hasnât endedâ¦â Dylan said reluctantly.
Kevan said with a dark expression, âNow. Immediately. At once.â
His fierce expression was
â¦
If it wasnât that he still couldnât differentiate between her and the woman he loved, then she had reason to suspect that he was just pretending to be drunk earlier.
âFine, fine. Iâll be right there!â Dylan said helplessly. Over the phone, they could hear him say. âHey, have fun guys. Iâm going to go see how Mr. Rogers is doing.â He was obviously talking to his friends.
âWhy would you see how heâs doing? Isnât he with his girlfriend?â
âYeah! Why go be a third-wheeler?â
His friends teased him and joked in the background, and Dylan was worried they would say something Inappropriate that Kevan might overhear and quickly hung up.
