Chapter 157
Sweet Subterfuge
After Larissa exchanged pleasantries with Zeroâs agent and assistant, she handed out snacks to each of them and asked cautiously. âAm! interrupting something?â
âWell Iâm not starting my livestream until 7 pm, so Iâm not working yet. How could you be interrupting me?â Zero teasingly smiled as she opened a bag of chips.
âWell, I noticed you guys seemed to be discussing something serious earlier. That was why Larissa wasnât entirely sure if she had interrupted them.
âNot at all Zeroâs agent Raina, waved her hands repeatedly. âActually, we were gossiping.â
Maggie, Zeroâs assistant, chimed in. âYeah, whenever we need to gossip about something, we pretend to be having a meeting.â
Larissa was rendered speechless. She felt like she couldnât keep up with the way young people thought nowadays. âWhat were you discussing, then?â she casually asked.
âThereâs a new agent, who recently joined StreamWave Studios. She seems to have a strong background. The two small anchors she manages only have a few tens of thousands of followers and arenât particularly skilled at gaming. But somehow, they landed an endorsement deal with Yenti Clan and are set to earn several million dollars in annual endorsement fees.â Raina sounded somewhat resentful âWhat is Yenti Clan? Larissa wasnât familiar with the gaming industryâshe had never heard of the brand before.
âTheyâre the best company in the country for gaming peripherals,â Raina explained. âEver since Zero started live streaming, she has been using their sponsored keyboards, headphones, mouses, and even gaming chairs. We have been cooperating for so many years, and Zero has even helped them sell a lot of products. Yet, they never approached Zero for an endorsement deal itâs really frustrating.â
âBut didnât the company say they donât need any spokespersons before?â Maggie asked.
âYes! Thatâs what Iâve been saying. Lana must have connections Raina rolled her eyes.
âLana?â Larissa didnât expect the three of them to be gossiping about her sister.
âWhy? Do you know her? Zero asked, Larissa didnât want to reveal her relationship with Lana, so she answered vaguely, âYeah, you could say that.â
Raina and Maggie immediately showed great interest. âThen, do you know who her connections are??
Larissa shook her head. âIâm not sure about that.â
Immediately, they looked utterly disappointed Suddenly, Maggie slammed the table, startling the others. âI heard from my classmate, who works in the presidential office, that just before Lana joined our company, she met with the boss, and he even brought her into his office! So, Iâm guessing her connection is the boss himselâ
Maggie was probably referring to the time when Larissa took Lana to meel Kevan. However, Larissa simply listened quietly as she sipped her coffee without correcting Maggie.
Rainaâs eyes darted around. âNow that you mention it â I also remember that Ash, Fakerâs agent, told me she saw Lana talking to the bossâs secretary in the cafeteria, and Lana was smiling so happily.â
Raina sighed and continued, âIf Lana is the bossâs woman, whatâs the point of us comparing ourselves to her? We canât complain even if she uses all the resources available on the platform to promote her two small anchors, can we?â
She then grabbed Zeroâs hand and spoke with great eamestness. âSorry that I donât have the connections to promote you! You have to work hard and pave your own way!â
Zero calmly retorted, âI never expected that from you in the first place, anyway.â
