Chapter 15

Bruised

Thea was lost in thoughts as she waited for Killian at the Bubble Tea Shop. She sipped on her bubble tea and was snapped out of deep thought when someone took the seat across from her. She looked up and her face lit up.

"Hi,"

Killian smiled at her,

"Hey, beautiful,"

Killian leaned out of his chair and placed a lingering kiss on her cheek that she knew made her cheeks turn a shade of red.

"It amazes me how we've been dating for a few months and you still get shy by my kisses."

"You don't have to point it out." Now she was embarrassed,

Killian chuckled at how cute she looked, but his smile faded as he remembered why they were there.

"So,"

"So," Thea teased with a lingering smile,

"Summer break."

Thea's smile slowly disappeared and she breathed deeply.

"Why didn't you just tell me you had other plans?" Killian said, "I got my hopes up about spending more time with you."

"I'm sorry," Thea felt bad and disappointed in herself for not communicating better, "I just...there was a lot on my mind, you know, with my mum. I felt this need to prove myself and push myself."

Killian wanted to tell her she didn't need to prove herself to anyone, but he didn't want to interrupt her now that he'd gotten her to open up.

"I don't think I've mentioned this before, but the Tacoma Art Museum was my second choice." She said, "I desperately wanted to get a job at the American Art Company."

"You never told me that,"

"I just wanted to forget about it as soon as I read the first line of the email," Thea paused, "But it got me thinking that I have close to a year of experience with TAM. Maybe, I can try applying again."

Killian smiled and he nodded in understanding as he did the math,

"You have three months to complete a year,"

Thea nodded,

"And I don't want to have to sit through another interview only to tell them that I took a break from work in the Summer."

Killian inhaled deeply and exhaled softly,

"I understand. As long as I still get to see you as often as possible."

Thea's smile was small, but it was there,

"You can't get rid of me that easily,"

Killian smiled and reached for her hand,

"It's good to hear that,"

Thea felt bad but she squeezed his hands to reassure him,

"I will clear my weekends for you,"

Killian's smile brightened and he released the breath he was holding,

"I would love that,"

"What do you have planned for us?"

Killian shook his head,

"Not much,"

Thea grinned,

"Sounds perfect."

Killian had planned a lot of activities for them to get through the summer together, but he would have to cross most of those things off his list and reserve a few for the weekends they got to spend together.

Thea pushed her drink towards him to take a sip and she watched him lift the straw to avoid the boba.

"What do you think about my brother and your sister?"

Killian stopped drinking and looked at her from beneath his lashes before he lifted his face to focus on her,

"I don't think anything about your brother?" Killian answered slowly like he was walking on eggshells.

Thea studied him and Killian studied her,

"Where is this going?"

Thea adjusted in her seat, leaning into the table to get closer to him,

"I think there's something going on with them,"

"First off, there is no way my sister will go for your brother, secondly..."

"What's wrong with my brother?"

"...I don't see it happening. Ever."

Thea stared at him for a moment in silence, astonished,

"That is a bit harsh, don't you think?"

"No. Harsh is saying my sister will have your brother for breakfast,"

"My brother can handle your sister,"

Killian scoffed,

"I'd like to see him try,"

"Do you have something against them?"

"I don't. I just don't see it happening," Killian said honestly, "Makenna is Mac, and your brother is..."

"Atlas?" Thea smiled, "You do know the Greek mythology of Atlas – the god of strength."

"Heard of it."

"Well let's just say my brother can handle himself where your sister is concerned,"

Killian smile started off slow, but it grew to a full-on grin,

"I'll pay for front-row seats to see how that plays out. Your poor brother."

Thea was taken aback,

"Didn't you hear anything I just said?"

"Yea, that your brother can handle himself, but not my sister."

"But this is..."

"Thea, I know where this is heading, so I'm going to need you to step back from it."

Thea blinked twice in silence,

"I have no idea what you mean,"

"Let's be honest, we didn't like your brother butting into our relationship," Killian said, "And it's not fair that we do the same thing."

"My brother didn't want us to be together, I want them to be together,"

"Oh goodness, no." Killian said, "I'm not going to be an accomplice in getting your brother and my sister together,"

"But they really like each other. Although your sister is a little stubborn to admit it."

Killian was speechless,

"And you know this how?"

Thea smiled and he almost forgot what they were talking about in the first place,

"She told me," Thea interrupted him when he opened his mouth, "But I didn't ask, I promise. I just put the pieces together."

"Ok, let's keep it that way,"

"But it's a love story waiting to happen,"

"You see a love story, I see a psychological thriller,"

"So, you wouldn't mind if they got together then,"

"That's all you took away from what I've said? And I never said that."

"No. You said anything but that, which means you're okay with it," Thea sat back, feeling content, "That's all I wanted to know."

Killian stared at her like he was seeing her for the first time,

"You are a very dangerous woman Ms. Zervas."

"Why, thank you Mr. Adams. I aim to please." She giggled and Killian smiled as he shook his head.

All that roundabout talk to see if he was comfortable with their siblings dating. But truly, he would love to see Atlas try.

Who watched the 'Bruised' YouTube video that went up? I hope that gave you insight into this story and where we might be heading. (Direct link --->)

It's another beautiful Saturday and I get to pretend like I do this full-time because it's the best part of my week - working on new chapters. I love my full-time job as a Content Writer, however, it's been really hectic lately. But, I am super grateful for the blessing of this job.

With that said, have an amazing week ahead. See you back here next Saturday.

P.S.: I've been having a problem replying to comments on my phone, so I have to wait all week to post a new chapter and reply to your messages on my laptop. I apologize for the late replies. <3
