Chapter 12

Werewolf

The Scomiche Chronicles

"Bye". Mitch looked up from his phone at his shirtless best friend, who stood staring at him. "He looks so good  shirtless. I wonder what he'd look like-" he stopped those thoughts before they took a dirty turn. "Where are you going all shirtless like that, Scotty?" He asked the tall blond.   Scott smiled at him and told him "I'll be going for a run. See you later, Mitchy."  Mitch turned back to his phone for a while, and then got up to do some band work from home (a/n. I'll love you forever if you get that song lyric). After he finished his work he decided to go for a walk in the local woods.

He got up and walked the short distance to the wood. He found the serene atmosphere of the woods quite soothing, and frequently came here to mull over things. As he strolled around the woods, he noticed something huge prowling around the woods. It looked like an overgrown dog, and it had sharp teeth and claws. "Maybe it's a werewolf, like in Twilight." Mitch thought. He scoffed at himself, unaware that he'd caught the attention of the creature and that it was stalking towards him.

Mitch looked up and screamed once he saw that thing heading his way. He started backing up, but tripped on a rock and the Beast was upon him before he had a chance to get up. However the beast just tilted his head, stared at him, and walked away, instead of mauling him like he expected. Mitch got up and ran away as fast as he could back home.  He arrived back home and slammed the door behind him, sweaty and out of breath. He debated on wether or not to tell Scott about the strange creature in the woods, considering they told each other everything, but Scott probably wouldn't believe him because it sounded too crazy.

Just as he settled on not telling Scott the door opened, and there stood his shirtless and sweaty Scott. "Hi" Scott greeted his friend. "Hi how was your run?" Mitch asked. "Oh it was great. By the way, were you in the woods today?" Scott asked. Mitch furrowed his eyebrows suspiciously. "Yes, but how did you know? I left after you did and didn't tell you." At this Scott started stuttering and turning red. This led Mitch to believe that Scott was hiding something. He asked him "Why are you so jittery?" Scott defensively said "I'm not jittery!! What is this, an investigation??"

Mitch simply raised his eyebrows and said "Calm down, queen. I think it may time for you to go to sleep."

Scott nodded his head in agreement and both of them went to bed.

The next morning Mitch left to do some errands, and Scott went on another run. Mitch came home, only to find the creature from the woods at his home. Terrified, Mitch armed himself with a shovel and crept forward, aiming to hit the creature on the head and knock it out. He raised the shovel, only to be blinded by a bright white light. Once the white light had faded away, the creature was no where to be found, and in it's place was Scott. "But... The creature.. was there... and Scott is there.. the creature turned into Scott." Mitch started rambling, trying to make it all make sense. His body couldn't handle the shock, and he promptly passed out.

When Mitch woke up, the first thing he noticed was that he was in his room, and that a human Scott was putting cool, damp paper towels on his head. "Hey I had the craziest dream about you" he croaked. Scott looked at him with interest. "Yeah, what was it about?" He asked

"Well I came home from my errands, and there was a creature with fangs and nails. Then there was a white light and the creature disappeared and you were in it's place. Crazy right?" He told Scott all of this without pausing to take a breath.

Scott took a heavy breath and told Mitch "There's something I have to tell you" and proceeded to turn into the creature. Mitch almost passed out from shock and fear again. The creature that was Scott moved towards him, but stopped when Mitch whimpered with fear.  "Don't be afraid. I'm still the same me, just with more hair, and fangs" Scott growled. Mitch hesitated and asked the Scott monster "Can you please turn human?" The monster nodded and turned into his human self with a flash of light. Scott sighed and said "I hope this doesn't change our friendship. I know it doesn't change the way I feel about you. How I always felt about you." Mitch stared at him, confused. "How you always felt. About me?" He parroted back at scott, not understanding what Scott just said.  Scott nodded his head and gently caressed Mitch's face. "I had a crush on you since high school. But you were with Travis, so I said nothing. What I am hasn't changed how I feel about you." Mitch stood there, shocked. "I... I think I need to think over this."

Scott nodded in assent and told him "Take your time. I understand this is shocking and that you need time to  process all of this." He was shocked when Mitch hugged him and wished him, sure that he'd react negatively. But this was Mitch with who he'd been through so many things before.

The next day found Mitch sitting at the counter, drinking milk out of the carton. He found out that not only the man he'd been crushing on had a crush on him too, but that he was apparently a werewolf. He jumped, startled when Scott walked in and tapped him on the shoulder. "So... Have you thought about everything?"

Mitch nodded and told Scott "I don't know how I feel about dating a werewolf. Hell, I didn't even know werewolfs existed until yesterday. But you're my best friend and I have feelings for you, werewolf or not." He finished with a deep breath. Scott's face fell at first, but lit up with happiness at the end of Mitch's speech.

He crushed Mitch in a hug, cupped his face, and kissed him until he was out of breath. Mitch breathlessly told him "Down, boy" and bit his lip when Scott whined, but obeyed. He told Scott "Since you're part wolf, I hope you know that I'll be doing things like that all the time." Scott laughed and shook his head. "So Mitchy, will you do me the honor of being my boyfriend?"  The kiss he got in return was answer enough.
