Chapter 38: An Unbelievable Thought

Why did I think of him again?

Jinli’s petite, pink lips puckered. Jinli did not hate Lu Zhengya exactly, but he kept popping up in her mind. It was far too many times for comfort. Alas, she could never bring herself to hate such a handsome-looking man. Not to mention, he fully appreciated her outstanding beauty and charisma.

Argh, it must be because he’s the first human to confess to me properly… I should give myself some time. After more Humans declare their love for me, he will be just another of those men.

Jinli nodded in satisfaction with her own little cleverness. Settling her own worries, her eyes returned to the hottie in front of her.

On the other hand, Lu Qingyuan’s jaws dropped a little as he saw Jinli’s inspecting eyes.. Despite him being exploited by Morning Star, he did not despise Jinli greatly. However, neither did he favour her much. Meeting her in person had changed his perspective greatly. Jinli was vastly different from how he imagined her to be. As a man who had sunken deep into his musical craft, his sensitivity was miles sharper than most people. When his gaze met with Jinli’s clear and sharp eyes, he just knew that this was not someone who would do unscrupulous things just for fame. A person whose heart was blinded by greed and evils plans would not have such seeing eyes and a pure and innocent smile.

Looking at that small, flawless face, Jinli’s enchanting smile sent Lu Qingyuan’s heart aflutter.

In his mind, an unbelievable thought sprouted. However, it was short-lived, dissipating quickly. What’s more, it was not the right time to say it. Recognising the poor timing, Lu Qingyuan suppressed it forcefully.

In the corner, Xu Zhiyi watched with a crooked smile. She waited expectantly for a second, then 10 seconds, followed by a minute. She was perplexed, the tearing of faces she had expected to see never appeared.

Aren’t the two of them enemies? How are they on such good terms? Where’s the argument and black eyes? What? Are they reminiscing with each other now?

Annoyance burst within Xu Zhiyi.

Can it be? Could it be that God Lu was just like the est of the desperate men? Did he lose his mind after seeing this vixen’s face?

Biting her lip, she forced herself between the two of them.

“Hi! God Lu! I’m Xu Zhiyi, I really, really, really love your performance!” She stared up at Lu Qingyuan, her eyes flushed with admiration and respect.

Lu Qingyuan’s eyes narrowed as a warm, gentle smile covered his face, “Oh! Many thanks miss Xu!”

Xu Zhiyi heard the tender greeting, and declared casually, “Everyone is on the show together. You don’t have to be so formal! Don’t call me Miss Xu, just call me Yiyi!”

The sudden affectionate request had Lu Qingyuan stumped. Yet, everyone was watching, so he could not make it awkward for the lady. Owing to his proper upbringing, he changed his words, “Alright, Yiyi.”. Those 2 words echoed within her heart as she beamed, not forgetting to grin smugly at Jinli.

Unexpectedly, an unbelievable question was heard. “In that case, Jin… Jinli, can i call you that?” Lu Qingyuna turned and asked carefully.

Jinli was stumped for a second. She had only thought of watching this happening on-screen. She had never thought of being dragged into it. Recovering quickly, she nonchalantly nodded, “Whatever floats your boat.”

Molten rage burned within Xu Zhiyi.

Why does God Lu drag Jinli into everything!!!!

However, being a profession artiste, her exploding rage remained only in her heart. She expertly maintained the same jovial, innocent grin, “God Lu, you said on the net previously that you looked up to Sister Jinli, is that true?”

What a devious plot. She refused to believe that they could be so harmonious together, not after she had stirred up all of their dark pasts so blatantly.

Lu Qingyuan’s eyes narrowed on the young lady, seriously judging her question and etiquette. While it was still a warm gaze, it was much darker and colder than before.

Gentle as a spring breeze, he spoke, “Rumours on the net should never be taken so seriously.” Then he lifted his head and nodded at Jinli. “Today marks the day I meet Jinli. She is very beautiful. In fact, she’s much more enchanting in real life.”

That earnest defence and praise melted away Jinli’s heart. She grinned like a Cheshire Cat, accepting the praise, “God Lu, you are not just an expert violinist, you are also a professional with all-seeing eyes.”
