Baked Love Valentineâs Special
Once upon a time, there lived a small bunny named Chip. Together with his family of seven, they lived in a small cottage perched atop a humble little hill in the middle of the forest.
The Honeycutt bunnies were very happy with their quiet lifestyle, but not until one day, when the second youngest bunny, Chip, decided to go on an adventure.
An adventure in search for the Fruit of Happiness.
The family of seven were very worried for their little bunny, but they couldnât seem to find a way to persuade him out of it. However, at that point of time, little Chip had done much research on this fruit, and was very determined to find itâand in turn, claim his right to happiness.
And so, bidding his family goodbye, the young, fluffy bunny made his way up North, searching for the precious fruit. With a basket filled with supplies in his hand, he hopped in his set direction, wondering what new adventures he will face in the outside world.
Even though Chip was quite doubtful of the strange ideaâwandering in an unknown place to search for something so rare and tiny, he was determined to do so.
He wanting nothing more than to live a life filled with happiness.
And so began his journey to the North.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Hop Hop Hop
Chip peeked under a rock, searching for the herb.   (A/N Heâs a bunny for heavenâs sake, he doesnât know where fruits grow. On treesâwait. Watermelons grow on the ground. R-Rightâ¦?)
Little did he know, the sun was already beginning to set over the horizon, the sky colored in a magical hue of red as he continued his search regardless.
Almost three days have passed since the bunnyâs departure, and he had yet to find a hint of the rare fruit through his journey up North.
Chip was beginning to lose hope, wondering if heâd ever find the Fruit of Happiness. The supplies in his rattan basket had begun to run outâwhat with a couple of cherry tomatoes and baby carrots left, he could only search around for fruits.
Even so, a variety of fruits hung delicious on the branches of trees, out of Chipâs reach. The berries heâd seen in the bushes had strange yellow spots on it. None of them were the amazing fruit he was searching for.
Soonâafter a fruitless, exhausting day, the bunny decided to seek shelter in a nearby cave.
In all truth, Chip was very afraid of the dark. But he told himself that he could do this. Just a few hours till daylight. And then he could rid of the frightening howls and calls of the wolves nearby.
As Chip settled into a nook of the cave by night, he began to think about his family at home, and soon enough, he fell asleep.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Chip awoke with a startâhis sensitive ears twitching as they caught something. The howling of a pack of wolvesâand they werenât far.
Jumping into an upright position, the frightened bunny hopped silently in a deeper part of the cave, praying desperately that none of the wolves heard or saw him.
The howling was painful to his earsâas if a natural warning for him to run.
But just then, Chip heard footsteps. No, pawsteps. Just right behind him.
He hopped as fast as he could, trying to use the darkness to his advantage. As a sheltered bunny, he had no idea that wolves themselves could see perfectly well in the dark.
Just then, he found a crook in the ground of the caveâsmall enough for him to slip through, but definitely not the wolf.
He squeezed into the crack, small body trembling with fright.
Pad. Pad. Pad. The pawsteps were closing in, and by then, Chip was sure he could feel the labored breathing of the wolf.
The jet black predator prowled lithely in the cave, searching for the source of the sweet scent.
But he just couldnât figure out where.
There was something uncomfortable poking Chipâs back. He wondered what it was, but then again, it was not the appropriate time to be curious.
Shrinking back as far as he could into the crook, the bunny prayed and prayed for something to happen.
And something did happen.
A strange fluff tickled Chipâs sensitive nose, and before he could hold it in, a sneeze escaped.
The handsome black wolf snapped its head to the source of the sound, advancing, but still unsure of its exact whereabouts.
Oh no oh no! Chip thought, squeezing his eyes shut, he prayed for a quick, painless death.
However, just before his predator could make his next move, another howl came from outside the cave.
This one saved Chip.
The wolf took one last glance around the cave, and then abandoned it, seeing that his pack was calling.
The little bunny was exhausted from the adrenaline running through him. His tiny heart couldnât handle any more stress. Heaving a sigh of relief, Chip decided to stay in the crack just a little longer.
Justâ¦a littleâ¦longerâ¦
Sleep had him in its claws, dragging him down in its vice-like grip. And soon, he succumbed to it.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
When the young bunny awoke, he felt strange. The walls of the stone cave was squeezing him rather tightlyâas if he was pressed straight up against it by an unknown force.
He tried to wriggle, to stretch his ears. But he couldnât.
Chip began to panic.
What was going on? He wondered, trying to stretch his legs. A wave of fear crushed his feelings, as he realized he could barely move at all.
Helpâ¦Helpâ
Chip felt as if his lungs were being crushedârendering him breathless.
He was going to die.
Panic gripped his heart as he began to thrash about, pushing at the stone walls.
âH-helâ¦elpâ¦â Feeble words escaped his lips.
Wait. He had lips?
Chip froze.
He choked. Something just came out of his mouth!
He wriggled, trying to breathe and make that similar sound once again. If only he could make a sound loud enough to call for helpâ¦
âAâAhn, â He coughed, choking from the lack of oxygen. A strange mewl came out strangled from his mouth. âHe-helpâ¦â
At that moment, Chip felt the hard material above him move. It shifted slightly, making a scratching sound. Then the entire boulder above him was removed.
The young bunny rose into an upright position, gasping for breath. He panted continuously, his eyes adjusting to the limited amount of light in the cave.
Right before his eyes was a towering figureâa well-built human. Just that he wasnât exactly human.
The man had very sharp and angular features; strong and broad shoulders; and firm, taut abs (although covered by a fitting shirt). Despite being a bunny, Chip knew that this was no ordinary human. He was very good-looking.
But what really intrigued him was the pair of animal-like ears that sat on his head, and the alluring black tail he could barely see.
And therefore, Chip concluded that this man was not human.
The bunny was so caught up in staring at the new being that he had not noticed him drawing closer.
âYou...That was your scent, wasnât it?â The half-humanâs voice was a husky low, and Chip felt strangely attracted to it. âIt was your scent I picked up last night.â
Chip tried to form a sentence, to express his feelings, but it was hard. He never knew that speaking could be so tough.
âAhâIâ¦Ngh,â The bunny felt as though something was clogged up in his throat, preventing him from voicing out his thoughts.
The dominant male advanced, a rather intimidating aura around him that made Chip back away. He stood up on his hind legs and was about to made a break for it whenâChip realized that his hind legs were gone.
He stumbled, crashing into the ground as he lost his footing.
A small cry escaped his lips as he felt something in his ankle crack.
Panicking, the small frame reached out to clutch the pain in his limbâbut instead of his tiny bunny legs, his hands reached for a slim, muscle-less one.
A human leg.
Shocked, Chipâs hands recoiled immediately, and then his brain registered his human hands. Human hands, human feet, and human legs!
W-Whatâs going on?
The poor bunny was frightened out of his life. He began to cry.
âWuâuwaâ¦ngh,â Warm tears flooded his eyes, blurring his eyesight. He brought his paw up to rub his face, but then again, there was a foreign skin that he wasnât accustomed to.
The half-human, half-wolf was puzzled. Confused.
What was this bunny-shifter doing here out of nowhere? What the hell. Or so he thought.
âOi. Stop crying,â
Chip didnât respond. He felt like giving up.
He couldnât find the Fruit of Happiness, nor could he even survive in the forest any longer without food. And now he had turned into a human. Or ratherâ¦
âTsk,â The tall male took off his shirt and tossed it to Chip, landing on his head.
âW-What--?â The bunny grabbed at the thin material, and unknowingly began to wipe his tears with it.
âWear it.â Chip glanced down at his human body, realizing that he was not properly covered at all. Even though bunnies were not supposed to be clothed, Chip found it strangely embarrassing to be naked. He didnât know whyâit was just unusually cold.
âThankâ¦Thank you,â A muffled sound came from the new human as he tried to slip the shirt on.
The wolf raised his eyebrow at his struggling prey, and unusual enough, he began to laugh.
This is amusing. He thought, approaching the half-bunny and yanking the shirt on him.
âWhatâs a bunny-shifter like you doing here in a wolfâs territory?â The dominate licked his bottom lip, almost able to taste the sweetness of his flesh.
âAhâIââ There was nothing else Chip could say. He didnât know how to pronounce the words in his mind.
The wolf-shifter named Xander closed in on Chip, running his nose along the bunnyâs jaw line.
âMm, you smell good,â
Chip gasped, his tiny frame beginning to tremble.
âP-pleaâseâ¦donâ¦donât eat mâ¦mph meâ¦â He pleaded miserably, leftovers of his tears still in his eyes as he shut them tight.
Xander chuckled in his preyâs neck, slowly taking in his sweet scent.
âWhy not?â He teased, flicking his tongue over the base of Chipâs neck. Mm, delicious. The wolf thought.
âBunâBunnies d-donâtâ¦tasteâ¦uhnâ¦go-good,â The bunny-shifterâs watery eyes blinked rapidly, drops of water sticking onto his thick eyelashes.
âReally? I donât think soâ¦â Xander bit into Chipâs bunny ears, releasing a small gasp from his prey while he caressed the pair of ears sweetly. âThese look so soft and fluffy,â
The predator ran his tongue over the edge of a fragile ear, making sure to savor the sweet taste he liked.
âPl-Please donât eat meeeeeeeee,â Finally finding his voice, Chip managed to make out a full sentence out of desperation. Tears collected at the sides of his eyes as his instincts told his body shrink back further. His ears laid flat against his blonde hair as his small frame coiled into a ball.
Xander was getting frustrated. âOkay, okay I got it. Stop whining, I wonât eat you.â
The bunnyâs head poked out of the ball curiously. âR-reallyâ¦?â His eyes were wide and hopeful, although watery with tears.
What. The. Actual. *BEEP*Â (A/N: This is a fairytale Xander! You canât possibly curse here)
The wolf-shifter was taken aback by the mixed feelings he felt for his prey. Although he was supposed to bring him back to the pack and shareâjust like every other timeâhe felt like he wanted the bunny for himself. More importantlyâhe didnât feel like eating him at all.
Xander cleared his throat. âI wonât eat you if you tell me what youâre doing here in the first place,â He said, trying to draw out more information from his unsuspecting prey.
âI wasâ¦was justâ¦looking for theâthe Fruit of Ha-Happiness. Itâllâ¦Itâll make you h-happy andâ¦um,â Chip stumbled over his words, unaccustomed to his foreign voice, and also held back by the lump in his throat.
The wolf raised his eyebrow, doubtful.
âFruit of Happiness? That rainbow-colored fruit?â
Chipâs ears perked up and he nodded his head vigorously, excited beyond measure.
âThatâs useless.â
Upon hearing those words, Chipâs confidence was crushed. His ears and shoulders drooped simultaneously, and his eyes glistened once again.
âHuh? B-But I thoughtââ
Xander crossed behind Chip, peering into the crack that the bunny had initially found refuge in. He motioned the small frame to come closer.
âSee that rainbow flower over there?â The wolf-shifter pointed to a colorful, dainty herb that sat at the bottom of the pit, âThatâs the Flower of Happiness. Itâs supposed to grow into the fruit youâre looking for.â
âJudging by the way I couldnât seem to find you last night, you were still an animal. I heard that this fruit can turn animals into shifters. Soâ¦maybeâ¦â
The unspoken words were clearâChip was turned into a half-human after sniffing the pollen of the flower last night.
Apparently, the Fruit of Happiness was unable to grant Happiness. Instead, it was only able toâ¦wellâ¦toâ¦âno one knows the real purpose of it.
The bunnyâs eyes were lost, and filled with desolation. âW-What do I...How can Iâ¦â He forced down another wave of tears, getting a grip on his trembling self. âAm I going toâ¦to stay likeâlike this,â He gestured to his human body, âf-forever?â
Xander ran his fingers through his dark hair, racking his brains. âHonestlyâI dunno.â He crouched low beside his fellow shifter, getting on eye-level.
His grey orbs searched blue ones.
âGot any food?â
The bunny shook his tiny head. His basket was gone.
âYou hungry?â
Again, Chip denied.
Xander sighed. âListen,â He hooked a claw under the bunny-shifterâs chin and forced the blue teary eyes to look at him. âI promise. Iâm not gonna eat you.â He paused, and contemplated.
âWell, provided if you behave yourself.â Xander teased.
Chip tilted his head to the side. âBehave?â
The wolf-shifter nodded, and then proceeded to lift the small frame off the ground in his arms as if he weighed nothing.
âAhâUwa, w-what are you doing?â
âBringing you to the lair,â Xander said without missing a beat, adjusting the figure in his arms so that he was carrying him bridal style.
The bunny shifted uncomfortably in the pair of strong arms, trying to pull down the shirt that barely reached past his mid-thigh as his fluffy bunny tail peeked out of the hem.
âI-I can walk you know!â He protested meekly.
âSure you can, but you donât know how to,â Xander smirked, knowing that he was right. He brought his captured prey out of the rock cave, weaving through the forest.
He was careful not to let the thorns of the undergrowth touch the soft, pale skin of his bunny.
The pair traversed the cold forest, the morning fog sending chills. Chipâs head rested in the crook of Xanderâs neck, as his small body unknowingly leaned into the warm chest.
The wolf-shifter thought he felt something stir in him as he took in the sweet, addictive scent of his prey. His eyes wandered to the soft baby pink lips, and he snapped out of his trance immediately.
For a moment, his thoughts crossed the fact that he was feeling a sort of longing for this tiny animal.
Lust.
He caught himself.
Nope. Definitely not.
Itâs just hunger.
