Chapter 6

Stolen glances

I just arrived at home after a ten minutes ride. God, I'm so mad, I nearly got a speeding ticket! When I get inside I find my dad and Xavier watching tv while Lucia is making dinner. Only then I realize it's already after 6pm.

"Oh hey, how was your day?" Dad asks with a smile when he sees me. I groan while flopping down next to Xavier on the couch. "Exhausting." I breathe out. "First of all, school was super boring. But as you know I started to work on my art project with Samantha-"

"Samantha White?" Xavier cuts me off, which makes me lean back while curiously raising my eyebrow.

"How do you know Samantha? You're a freshman. You don't even have classes with her." I ask while wiggling my eyebrow at him, crossing my arms with a smirk. On that he turns red. "All my friends have crushes on her. And we see her in the hallway or in the cafeteria sometimes." Xavier answers with a casual shrug. I snort at that before leaning closer to his face, squinting my eyes at him.

Xavier leans back at that, frowning nervously. "Just your friends?" I ask with a grin, making him turn even redder. "Hey, I'm not into her. She's pretty and all but I don't know her." He answers, pushing my face away with his hand before smiling at me innocently, almost mischievous. "But I know you like her." My eyes widen at Xavier's words. My dad looks at me with a raised eyebrow and a grin. All that makes me turn red immediately.

I scoff nervously. "What? No!" I say quickly but both of them just glare at me, not believing one word I said. I roll my eyes with a sigh. "Fine, I have a crush on her. But nothing will happen, so don't make a big deal out of this." I groan embarrassedly, which makes the three of them laugh. "Dinner's ready." Lucia calls us, on which I immediately get up and go to sit down at the dinner table with Xavier and dad following me.

"So..how was it at Samantha's place then?" Lucia asks curiously, smiling softly as she sits down next to dad. "It was good. We actually did get a lot of work done." I answer with a small smile. "Her mom even invited me to go to the mall with them but then Aiden stormed in and nearly kicked my ass." I add, which makes their eyes widen.

"Aiden is such an asshole." I hear Xavier mumble, making me look over at him. "I know. But only one more year and he's gone." I say and he nods, slowly starting to smile at that. "Thank god!" He groans happily, abzog makes me chuckle. "Well unless you're starting to date Samantha. Then he's going to be around." Dad tells me and I groan at that. "We're not going to date! She isn't even into girls!" I whine embarrassed but he just chuckles at me.

"Not sure about that." Xavier mutters, which makes my head spin around to him immediately. His eyes widen at that. "Jeez, don't snap your neck." He warns me and dad and Lucia laugh at that while I turn red. "Well uh..what..what makes you think she could be into girls?" I ask curiously, putting my cutlery down and turning my body to him. Xavier shrugs at that. "I'm just getting the vibe. She also got asked out by mostly every guy in school but she rejected everyone." He responds before taking a big spoon of his food. "Not to mention I saw her looking at your boobs in the hallway last week." He adds, making my cheeks heat up.

But then I groan. "That doesn't mean she's not into guys! Could be she just wasn't interested in them." I say but he just shrugs again. "Could be. But maybe you could go into this thinking she could be into you." Xavier tells me with a smile, after he chewed down his food. I lean back while crossing my arms. "When did you get so..wise ?" I ask, which makes him snort. "I've always been."
