i was woken by sherri, as she was dancing around our hotel room, singing 'party in the USA'. i groaned.

"sherri think about others before you do something for once! i was fast asleep before you woke me, and what about the people in the room underneath uh huh?"

"well you needed waking up, you missed breakfast." i shot up out of bed. "oh! and i gave the card to the two lads, they said thanks and walled off. what a bunch of wankers for not inviting us to go anywhere with them." sherri scoffed as she picked her nails.

"are you having a laugh?" i shouted.

"no, it's almost 12, lunch will probably be soon" she replied.

"why didn't you wake me earlier?"

"mum told me 'don't wake dotty up otherwise she'll be n a right mood for the rest of the day'. her words not mine" i flipped her off and went through my suitcase and found a good enough outfit for the day.

"can you believe it. then two boys having the audacity to only say 'thanks'. ugh americans" i laughed at this. i finally picked a pink bikini to wear, so i changed from my pyjamas into it and i put on a white skirt over top it.

"so we're going to the pool today?" i asked.

"yep" sherri replied. "oh gosh. please, don't bring the hat!" she whined.

"whyyy, i love it!"

"it's stupid" i wad wearing a straw hat that i bought last summer, and that i thought was cute. sherri very obviously didn't.

"got everything?" i asked, sliding my white flip flops on.

"mhm" and with that, we exited the hotel room and made our way down to the pool.

we had spent an hour and a half down at the pool, mum and dad had rented four sun beds for each one of us, which i would be forever grateful for. there was no sign of the two boys from earlier so i told myself, dotty you have to stop revolving your holiday signs this boy that you'll probably never see again after the summer has ended. that didn't get me on a better mood.

just as i was about to give myself another extremely encouraging pep talk while i was strolling behind sherri, i got tapped on the shoulder by someone. it wasn't just any someone, it was him.

"hey" he smiled.

"hi"

"look i just wanna thank you for finding our room key"

"ooh yeah no it's no big deal, what did you guys do that night anyway. sleep wise." i asked readily, only just realising what i had said.

"oh my gosh, not on a creepy way or anything. i just-"

"no need to worry it's okay" he laughed. HE LAUGHED!! "well, we went down to reception, they said they couldn't give us another one, because we didn't have any actual proof we are staying in the hotel. because our passports and everything like that were in our parents rooms. and by the time we got back upstairs it was like half one ish so we couldn't wake up them. so we slept on the floor outside our room until the morning." by the end of his story i was stifling. such made him smile even more. there was an awkward pause before i spoke up, after hearing ri shout my name from ahead.

"that's my cue to go, i'll see you around after lunch or something. by trevor" i said softly, smiling and waving my hand as i jogged to catch up with sherri. i didn't hear him say anything in reply. i gave sherri the look.

"i'll tell you what happened after lunch with mum and dad"

"eeee okay, i've got news as well" she grinned widely.
