Chapter 51
She Approved the Split He Fell Apart
051 A Win For Me Scarlettâs POV The rest of the party went through smoothly.
Sebastian lured me here with the divorcing papers, but I donât know if I could count on his words when Ava is here to occupy his attention. But after I sent Granny off at the gate, I found not only Sebastian, but another unexpected surprise waiting for me there, too.
âSheâs not going with you,â Sebastian fires at Adrian the first thing after Grannyâs car leaves.
Why would Adrian even do that?? He is such a baby!
âThatâs her decision,â Adrian smirks. Compared to Sebastianâs sullen grumble, Adrian seems charmingly at ease, âeven if you still are her husband...technically.â
Okay, two babies.
âIâm going with-âI try to explain, but Adrian curves his lips-
âMiss Dawson and Miss Grey didnât want to drag you to another taxi ride, and they trusted me with your safety after I got them a taxi a few minutes Did Aurora just abandon me to my new boss?! Seriously?!
âI mean, I really appreciate that, Mr. Dunn, but-â
ago.â
âAlso, we do need to talk about your new job,â Adrian glances at Sebastian when he says ânew jobâ, adding, âI wouldnât be a good boss if I let a talented writer like you go wasted.â
Sebastian shoots Adrian a glare, and Adrian grins happily at that.
I donât really want to be a bother, especially to a guy who Iâm not familiar with. But as if seeing through my thoughts, Adrian adds:
âYou donât want to make me break my promise to two ladies, right?â
I donât. But I donât want to drag his name through the mud with mine either.
âYou donât come with me, then you can say goodbye to whatâs in my car,â Sebastian gets impatient and ignores me and Adrian, leaving.
When was the table turned around to where he could threaten me with the divorce 1/0 +25 BONUS 251 A Win for Me papers?!
âOf course, Mr. Dunn, Iâd love to help you keep your promise!â I raise my voice for Sebastian to hear, âPlease give me ONE minute because thatâs how long Sebastian would take!â
Adrian bursts into laughter and Sebastian walks away even faster.
Hmph!
I had to almost run and I barely caught him by his car â he already opened his door when I was still a few meters away, and I have no doubt that he would have driven away if Ava didnât come out from the side.
âWhere were you?â Ava throws herself into Sebastianâs arms, âI have been waiting for you!â
I slow down, watching. Sebastian shoots me a glance, âtryingâ to get Ava off his neck. I mean, how hard is it, for a grown man to peel off a long sick girl? The answer. is âvery hardâ, if he doesnât want to.
âBut you said you would give me a ride! Sebastian, is this what you mean when your said you have nothing to do with her?â I put on a smile, walking over as I smirk at Ava. Her face darkens instantly as she comes off herself.
Two can play that game. I didnât because Sebastian didnât like me to do things that Ava could do. But now, Iâm free.
Sebastian rolls his eyes, âWerenât you going with Adrian? I thought you only wanted one minute from me!â
Petty!
âI said you have only one minute to give,â I nod at Ava, âAnd from the look of it, you canât even give that.â
Sebastian looks at Ava, too, and instantly his tone softens: âDidnât you see Alfred? I sent him to take you home.â
âBut I thought I could catch a ride with you...â Ava pouts with a wronged look, joking,â You took me here, and now Iâm your responsibility!â
Sebastian shoots me a nervous glance. He wasnât even nervous when he spoiled her while we WERE married. So why start now? Iâm not happy at their show, but it doesnât mean I canât have my fun.
051 A WAT +25 BONUS âPlaying coy with your sisterâs HUSBAND in front of his wife, Ava Fuller, where is your manner?!â I fold my arms and say coldly.
Both of the love birds stare at me with shocked eyes, and shockingly, Avaâs ears turn red. I didnât know she could feel shame.
I never retort. Thatâs the Scarlett they knew. The old Scarlett would never put Sebastian in a dilemma between me and Ava, nor would she give Ava any excuse to summon her army.
Iâm not that Scarlett anymore. They never understood why: They could hurt me because I loved them. Sebastian, and my soâ
called family. I donât love them anymore, yet they still expect me to swallow up whatever bitter medicine they throw my way âHe wonât be your husband for long!â Ava bursts into tears, shouting at me, âYou took him from me, and you have no leverage now!â
âReally?â I tilt my head at Sebastian, giving him a taunting grin, âWill you? Divorce me?â
Either answer would be a win for me, and happily, I see an angry storm forming in his fierce black eyes in his customized dilemma.
