Chapter 145 Damian’s Attention
She Approved the Split He Fell Apart
Scarlettâs POV âYou are leaving?â
I look away reluctantly from Jack Fullerâs closed door when Sebastianâs voice raises. I look over, only to see Lucas standing by near us. My little suitcase was beside him.
I have been moving around so much recently, even since I found out about the baby that day. The only thing feeling homey is that suitcase.
âNo, Iâm not,â I dodge Sebastianâs eyes.
He would try to get me to move back with him if I answered yes. I donât want to waste time on such a talk.
I wanted to move out because I had got everything I wanted from Jack Fuller. But now with Momâs stuff almost within my reach, I canât help my mind turning fast about how to get it. I want Momâs necklace. I hate the fact that itâs on Avaâs neck, especially when I know it would be harder to get it from Jack Fuller now.
âYou are not a good liar,â Sebastian sighs with a bitter smile, seeing through me, âI know better than to force you. I just...â He frowns, lowering his eyelashes to hide the pain in his eyes before he continues, âI can move out if thatâs what it takes for you to move back in.â
âIâm not moving âbackâ anywhereâ!â
âThe house is under your name,â Sebastian says calmly, knowing what I would say before I even finish, Even if you insist on a divorce, you are leaving with half of whatever I own, so.â
I turn around, glaring at him.
â
This man. He is just stubborn and arrogant and dominant and stubborn! Stubborn twice! He is as considerate as how cruel he was to me. Iâm no longer sure if he really didnât know he was hurting me, but I canât take this bet with the life of my baby.
âDid you even read the divorce paper I signed?â I frown at him.
âYou took nothing, I saw, and I changed the clause to splitting everything with you,â He curves his lips bitterly, âYou tore that one up. Feeling pitiful?â
I roll my eyes.
âGuess not...â Sebastian smiles bitterly, mumbling to himself more than speaking to me, âYour heart is harder than a stone. Once you made up your mind to leave, nothing could turn you around...the lease of all money. You loved like fire, but when you hate, you hate like the coldest ice.â
âNothing is a legit enough reason to stay in a marriage but love,â I say coldly, âI learned it the hard way.â
âââ
âPlease, donât say that word to me,â I cut him off. Remaining decent is the most mercy I can give him and I donât promise to be able to if he dares say he loves me now, âYou are wrong. Ldonât hate you. I hate myself for allowing you to walk over me. But if you insult me with this lie, I WILL hate you.â
Sebastián gazes at me sorrowfully, pain in his eyes.
âPeople change, Scar,â He squeezes these words out slowly, âYou changed me. What am I supposed to do when you just up and leave after you changed my heart into loving you?â
âYou do NOT, love me!â I hiss at him. Even though I stopped loving him, this man still riles me up easily,â You have no idea what that word means to me, and you have no idea how much I paid for that word! You do not have the right to use that word on me, not when Ava still takes up most of your heart! You donât get to love anyone, not when you canât promise your full heart in exchange! Iââ
I want to keep on bursting out, but I feel a pair of eyes on me, and I turn, only to see Damian Vanderbiltâs eagle eyes on me. He looked like he was on his way leaving, but now he takes a champagne from a waiter and sits down not far from us.
âWhat?!â I frown at him. My gratitude to him burned out when I realized he didnât care about that dress he gave Lilith at all. Lilith took that to heart and couldnât stop talking about him only until recently, and here he is, forgetting all about Lilith and Ava and actually just defending Ava!
âKarma is a bitch, little girl,â He snorts at me coldly, tipping his glass in Sebastianâs direction, his icy purple eyes landing on Sebastian with a condescending look, âYou are into Ava Fuller?â
Another prey in Avaâs pocket. You have to give it to her She is good.
âIâm not,â Sebastian says simply, taking my waist naturally as his tone takes a sudden hostile turn, âShe is my wife, and you donât talk to her like that.â
