Chapter 132
She Approved the Split He Fell Apart
132 The Emperorâs New Necklace Scarlettâs POV âI donât know,â Ava blurts almost Instantly without thinking, then her tone turns suspiciously, â...why are you asking?â
C â
âWhy do you think?â Sebastian lets out a light laugh, but if Iâm not mistaken, the laugh does not reach his eyes. I have never seen him treat Ava with such an attitude.
Ava pouts her lips, staring at Sebastian with her deer eyes wide open, her tone timid like a tamed sisterâin- law: âYou are asking for...her? Are you two...getting back together?â
Sebastian glances in my direction again: âYes, hopefully soon.â
Ava lowers her eyes.
âI thought she might forgive me if I helped her locate her biological parents,â Sebastian continues as if not seeing Avaâs bothered look.
âDaddy doesnât want anything to do with that family,â Ava murmurs with a scared face, âsays the junkies will strangle us like vines if they found out that their daughter got adopted by rich people...â
Or maybe they would try to save me from him.
Good story, Jack Fuller.
âI understand. No parents want their children taken, no matter at what age,â Sebastian nods slowly, looking at Ava right in the eyes, âYou will help me though, right? You always said you wanted Scar and me to be happy together.â
I physically canât stop my body from snorting coldly at that. The only thing that saved me was the noisy room.
Ava wanted me and her prince charming a happy ever after? Yeah, right. Only Sebastian would believe such a lie. If I felt pity for her seeing herself as Pinocchio before, I no longer do. She lies when she doesnât even need to. She could just outright say that she was jealous and that wouldnât diminish his love for her even by a little.
She cocooned herself. She has the cocooned look on her face right now: âThat was...before...â
Before she was healed. Before she thought she could have a normal life with him.
With Avaâs attention on him, I turn for the staircase and sneak back up. She said she didnât know. Whether a lie or truth, she doesnât have the answer I want.
Lucas has been waiting for me.
âI have got it!â He says with a mysterious look the moment I enter. He pulls me inside the room, checking oût both sides before he closes the door behind me in haste.
âThe password?â frown in confusion, âWhy did you even want it? Itâs not like we can enter his safe all the time.â Jack Fuller guards his safe like a dragon with his mountain of gold. He spends most of his time there.
132 The Emperorâs New Necklase +25 BONUS âBetter!â Lucas smirks, pulling a thing from behind his belt.
A long, blue velvet necklace case. Itâs empty inside.
âWhatâwait!â I gasp in shock, âThe necklace case in the safe?! You got it after Ava left it there?!!!â
âYep.â He ignores my shock and panic, opening the empty case to show me, with the proud look of a kid showing off his favorite toy, âAm I good or what?!â
Deadpan, I land my eyes on the empty case: âWhat am I supposed to look at? The Emperorâs New Necklace?â
âTsk,â He clicks his tongue with an unsatisfied look, rolling his eyes as if Iâm the ridiculous maniac, âLook at the sunken shape where the necklace was, Sherlock.â
âI saw the necklace, itâs a teardropââ I roll my eyes, but halfway through my huffing, I notice something weird.
The case is for a necklace, yes, but itâs original shape is a circle, wider than the necklace I saw on Avaâs neck. And the oddest part is that the tip of the teardrop didnât fit the circle, and poked a new dent on the original circle.
âWhat does that mean?â I blink, not coming around fast enough when I feel like the answer is right around the corner, âIt doesnât fitâ? Itâs not the necklaceâs original case?â
âYep!â Lucas grins when he watches me having my ultimate enlightenment, nodding with final satisfaction, âThis is definitely NOT the original case. So why would anyone have a wrong case for such a luxury piece of jewelry, when they care about it enough to lock it in a safe, but not enough to find it a fitting case?â
âHe took it from someone so he doesnât have the case, and he doesnât want anyone to know about itââ I open my eyes wide at the destination his questions led me, âNo way, that was my momâs necklace?!!!!!â
