Chapter 288 That evening, when they returned, Noelle kept asking Charles about what had transpired betweenhim and Sebastian.

Previously, Noelle had sensed that although her grandfather did not voice it, he was quitedispleased with their decision to marry before informing him. Yet, after Charles played a game ofchess with him, Sebastian seemed to change his mind and even appeared to be in a good mood.

During dinner, Sebastian ate two whole plates and kept serving Charles more food, a privilege evenNoelle had not experienced.

When Charles was busy, Noelle took the opportunity to ask her grandfather what he had discussedwith Charles and assured him that her marriage with Charles would be happy.

In response, Sebastian knocked on her head, saying, “You’ve quickly forgotten your roots.” Heremarked that she was already siding with Charles just after getting married.

However, Sebastian’s tone lacked any anger, and he seemed quite relieved. Noelle could tell thather grandfather had accepted their marriage, but neither Sebastian nor Charles revealed howCharles had managed to persuade him.

After they left her grandfather’s house, Noelle kept pestering Charles to explain what hadhappened.

While driving, Charles glanced at Noelle, who was visibly bothered by this mystery. He smiled,reached out to ruffle her hair, and said, “It wasn’t much. I just assured your grandfather that I wouldalways take good care of you and let him supervise me.”

“I don’t believe you!” Noelle raised her chin defiantly. “Grandpa isn’t that easily convinced. I don’tbelieve that just saying that made him overlook everything.”

Charles chuckled. “So, you mean you want him to give us a hard time?”

“That’s not what I meant…” Noelle bit her lip. “I just think Grandpa wouldn’t give in so easily.”

In truth, Noelle was scared. She knew her grandfather would not make things difficult for Charles,but she was still worried. Their relationship was not stable yet.

Noelle had not wanted to reveal her marriage to both her grandfathers so soon because she did notwant them to worry. Besides, she lacked confidence in herself.

After experiencing a failed relationship, Noelle had not planned to enter another one so quickly.Charles was an unexpected development, and their marriage had a purpose behind it, which wasnot entirely pure. She had her own reasons for marrying Charles.

“Alright now. Some things are resolved, so there’s no need to dwell on them,” Charles said, rufflingNoelle’s hair again. “Okay?”

1 bought movie tickets. We have about an hour,” Charles said, surprising Noelle.

“You bought movie tickets?” she asked, looking up in astonishment.

Charles nodded. “Yes. Ronald mentioned that a few new foreign blockbusters are showing. Do youwant to watch one?”

“Sure!” Noelle nodded, feeling happy. “There’s nothing much to do if we go home this early anyway.”She also liked watching foreign films. When she was with Xavier, he always used work as anexcuse to avoid outings, let alone watching movies.

Even when they did go out, if Noelle suggested an art film, Xavier would dismiss it as pretentiousand boring. However, when she proposed watching action movies, Xavier would come up withanother excuse, saying they were too violent for a woman and that she would not understand them.
