Chapter 278
The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles)
Chapter 278 Noelle added, âItâs someone you know!â
âI know that person?â Sebastian was stunned. âWhy didnât you tell me something as important asyou getting married? And you didnât introduce me to him beforehand either? Yet you claim youâre nolonger a child. Is marriage something you can just decide for yourself on a whim?â
Sebastian was somewhat angry at the fact that his granddaughter had gotten married withoutsaying a word to him. No matter how he thought about it, the whole thing felt inappropriate to him.
After all, he had known about what happened to Noelle and Xavierâs relationship and also knew justhow much she had loved him. Noelle had even turned down his offer to play matchmaker betweenher and one of his students.
Yet, just a few months later, Noelle was married. It was impossible for Sebastian not to feel worried.âNoelle, youâre not a young girl anymore. How could you treat your marriage as if itâs childâs play?â
It was the first time Noelle had ever heard Sebastian speak to her in such a stern voice, and shecould not help but feel guilt wash over her.
Charles narrowed his eyes when he saw the look on Noelleâs face. He collected his wits beforewalking over and taking the phone from Noelleâs grasp.
Stunned, Noelle was just about to grab the phone back from him when Charles began speaking,âSir, itâs me!â
Sebastian was just about to continue lecturing Noelle. Although he was extremely fond of Noelle, hefelt the need to lecture her about her decision to get married without saying anything to him so thatshe would remember her lesson. He was not expecting to hear Charlesâ voice.
Sebastian thought his ears were playing tricks on him. âCharles?â
âItâs me, sir!â Charles grinned. âLong time no see, sir!â
Once again, Sebastian was stunned. âAre you with Noelle? Itâs so lateâ¦â However, Sebastian hadconsiderable life experience under his belt and immediately connected the dots. âYouâre the manNoelle is married to?â
âYes, sir!â Charles said before he added in a respectful tone, âNo, I should begin addressing you asGrandpaâ now.â
Even a man of Sebastianâs age would be shocked by that, and he drew in a deep breath. âYouârethe big shot who got married to Noelle?â Then, he added, âYou little bastard, you didnât even botherletting me know that you married my granddaughter?
Sebastian was so angry that he began blabbering, âHow did you guys end up marrying each other? Were you guys not planning to tell me anything if I hadnât started asking questions today? Whatabout that old coot, Samuel? Does he know anything?â
Charles frowned. When he saw the nervous look on Noelleâs face, he reached out and stroked herhair, signaling to her there was nothing to worry about.
With a grin on his face, he added, âNelly and I were planning to wait for our relationship to be a littlemore stable before we told you. Before this, Nelly was so confident that she would never fall for me,andâ¦â Chuckling, he continued, âItâs my fault, though. I was waiting for a perfect and properopportunity to visit because I was worried you might be against our marriage! As for Mr. Shaw⦠Ihavenât spoken to him you yet.
âNelly and I had always planned to speak to you first, since not only are you her maternalgrandfather but my teacher as well. We definitely have to seek your approval on this matter!â
