Chapter 269
The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles)
Noelleâs smile turned playful. âSure, but youâd only have one customerâme!â
Charles chuckled and playfully tapped Noelleâs nose. âYouâre such a tease!â
Noelle blinked and stretched her neck, trying to reach Charlesâs face with her hand, but she was toofar away. She pouted. âCome down a little!â
Charles gave her a look, holding her wriggling hand still. âSettle down. Your hair isnât dry yet!â
âHey, duck down a bit!â she exclaimed, trying to get up, but Charles gently pushed her back down.âNo more playing around!â He did lower his head, though, and Noelle was delighted. She playfullyrubbed and pinched Charlesâs smiling face, noticing his eyes seemed to sparkle even more.
Noelle raised an eyebrow when she saw the look on Charlesâs face and quickly let go. âCome on,donât be lazy. Dry my hair already!â
Charles gave her a soft look and then tenderly held Noelleâs face, planting a kiss on the tip of hernose. Noelle giggled, feeling ticklish, and tried to push him away, but Charles held onto her hand, showering her with kisses.
He kissed her forehead, her eyes, her nose, and then her chin.
Noelle felt her heart race as he kissed her, and she nervously gripped Charlesâs sleeve. Sheshivered as his gentle lips met hers.
With a quick move, Noelle found herself swept up in Charlesâs long arms, turning completely aroundto sit on his lap. They kissed deeply, as if they could not get enough of each other.
After a while, Noelle wrapped her arms around Charlesâs neck, trying to catch her breath. She had arosy blush on her cheeks, and her damp hair was falling in front of her. Charlesâs hand was on her slender waist, and he whispered teasingly in her ear, âTrying to knock me over, Noelle?â
Noelle jumped a little, then shyly gave Charles a sidelong glance. âYouâre so silly!â
Charles chuckled and playfully nibbled on Noelleâs ear. âDo you want me?â he whispered.
Xavier had been trying to call Noelle nonâstop. At first, his calls went through, but suddenly, he wasbeing told her number did not exist. That was when Xavier realized Noelle had blocked him. Shewas making it crystal clear that it was over between them.
Xavier could not handle it. Drunk and upset, he stumbled over to Noelleâs place and started yellingoutside her door, âNoelle, come out! I know youâre in there, and I know you still love me. Letâs talk this out. Canât wepatch things up? Noelle! Noelle, please come out!â
However, no matter how loud Xavier yelled, there was no answer from inside Noelleâs house.
The landlord heard all the commotion and quickly called Ronald. âMr. Wells, that guy who waslurking around here the other day is back, and heâs really worked up this time. Heâs clearly drunk.â
Ronald was half asleep when he got the call, but he managed a dismissive laugh. âJust call thecops. Itâs the middle of the night. Heâs disturbing the peace, and heâs drunk and disorderly, right?â
The landlord caught on to what Ronald meant right away and agreed. âYouâre right. Heâs reallydrunk. Thank goodness Ms. Shaw isnât home. If she were, sheâd be scared out of her wits. Iâmcalling the police now!â
