Chapter 264
The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles)
Chapter 264 Noelle was not really worried, but she thought it was important to let Charlee know what was goingon. Charlesâs words made her feel better. âI wasnât worried. I just wanted to keep you in the loop. Ihave no idea why theyâre following me!
â4mm,â Charles murmured as he got back to his office and opened up his documents. Sure enough, there was an email with photos of Noelle and Xavier. The pictures were taken from such an anglethat anyone who did not know better might think there was something going on between them.
Charles tapped his fingers on the desk, a sharp look in his eyes. âIâll sort this out. Are you on yourway back now?â
Noelle was feeling down, so she was just wandering around. âNo, thereâs nothing for me to do backhome. Are you busy?â It hit her then that she might be interrupting Charlesâs work. He was alwaysso busy, yet she was calling him at the office. âYou know what? You should go back to work. We cantalk after youâre off.â
âNo need for that.â Charles chuckled. âIâm not busy at the moment!â He noticed Ronald had finishedthe meeting and was carrying a bunch of files. Charles raised an eyebrow to tell him to hold on. âIsthere anything else you need?â
âNope. I was just wondering what youâd like for dinner tonight,â Noelle asked. Since she did not havework at the moment, she decided to pick up some fresh ingredients from the market and prepare ameal for when Charles got home. âIâm off to the grocery store now!â
âIâm easy to please. You can choose!â Charles replied, his eyes softening as he fiddled with somepapers. He took a quick look and said, âHead back early after youâre done shopping. If you getbored, you could always visit your two friends!â
+25 BONUS âSure!â Noelle cheerfully agreed and hung up the phone. The unease Xavier had caused wasquickly calmed by Charlesâs words. She headed to the mall, her spirits lifted.
After the call, Charles looked up at Ronald, who snapped to attention and handed over somedocuments. âMr. Hoffman, these are the main points from our recent meeting.â
Charles nodded and glanced at the emails on his computer. âSend these photos to Winter.â
Ronald looked puzzled. âTheseâ¦â He knew the photos were not genuine, and he hesitated. âWhat ifMadam finds out?â
âShe wonât,â Charles said sharply, his gaze intense. âSheâll never find out.
Ronald clammed up, realizing he had broached a sensitive subject. âIâll handle it immediately!â Aftertaking the photos, he added, âWhat if Winter ends up resenting Madam?â
Charles shot Ronald a quick look, his long fingers drumming on the table. âYou think sheâs over hergrudge against Noelle?â
Winter was known for her nasty temper, and she would probably do mean things to Noelle evenwithout any provocation. âSometimes, tough situations call for tough actions. You can go now.âCharles said.
Being kind to someone like Winter was not necessary. Charles did not mean to use Noelle, butdragging things out was not good either. Xavier and Winterâs wedding had to happen soon, and itwas better sooner rather than later.
Winterâs face twisted in anger when she saw the photos. Jade, who came to check on her, sawWinterâs meltdown and worriedly asked, â Whatâs wrong now?â
