Chapter 6

Mend My Heart | COMPLETED ✓

Ishika frowned as the rays of sunlight were falling on her face. She had to wake up early but due to sleeping late, she didn't hear her alarm. She blinked a few times and opened her eyes to get a clear view. She looked to the side and there was no sign of her Husband but he kept a pillow instead of him which she was hugging.

Her eyes fell on the clock and she panicked. She was late. She was supposed to wake up an hour early so that she could get used to their kitchen. Her cooking skills were amazing (not being sarcastic at all) she got up and rushed to the bathroom to do her morning routine. After doing her morning routine she took a quick shower.

There was another hurdle waiting for her which was to wear a saree. No one taught her how to drape a saree. If her mom was alive she would have definitely taught her how to drape a saree. She took her phone and decided to take help from YouTube. But draping a saree looked easy only in the video. In reality, it was far, far, far harder.

She groaned multiple times but still didn't get any kind of success. "Whom should I call? What if his mother scolds me for not knowing how to drape a saree but I can't do it and I can't delay it anymore.. ahh what should I do" She was lost in thoughts when she heard someone clearing his throat.

She turned to look at the door and Abhimanyu was standing there leaning on the door frame crossing his arms.

He stood there for like 5 minutes watching her struggling. He smiled watching her make cute faces. That pout when she tried to do a drap was everything for him. His heart was doing somersaults. He wanted to just go to her and pinch her cheeks. They were puffed like a pufferfish.

"Finally I got your attention. I have been calling you for like forever. Any problem?"

he spoke, still leaning on the door frame. He didn't want to invade her personal space by walking in.

Ishika looked at him like looking at her savior for a min then she realized how he would know how to drape a saree. She shook her head.

"Nothing.."

she looked at the messily draped saree.

"You sure? Want me to call maa?"

Ishika gulped and shook her head again.

"Can you... can you help me drape the saree? I can't seem to get a grip of it"

Abhimanyu walked in. He had no idea how to drape a saree. His mother does it perfectly but Ishika doesn't want his mother to come and help.

His eyes fell on the YouTube video which was paused. He took her phone and watched the video with full concentration. He kept the phone beside him and started draping the saree around Ishika.

"So this goes like this and this one goes there"

he mumbled to himself while draping a saree. He kneeled to do her plates. All this while Ishika was admiring her husband.

"You got it simply by watching a video?"

Ishika spoke as the silence was killing her.

"yes, it looked quite easy though. Here tug it in"

he spoke, giving Ishika the plated cloth.

Ishika took and tugged them properly and finally, it was done.

"Finally!!"

Abhimanyu spoke and got up.

"get ready maa is waiting for you downstairs"

his phone rang and he went out of the closet to pick up the call.

Ishika took a few breaths to calm her beating heart. His closeness was giving her butterflies... Why was he so calm?

She shrugged off the thought and quickly got ready. She wanted to run downstairs but this saree was not giving her enough movements.

She walked downstairs in the living room. Abhimanyu's mother and father were already sitting on the couch discussing something. She walked to them.

"G..good morning mummy ji"

she spoke in an inaudible scared voice. She was scared because she was late. If it was her aunt she would have hit Ishika a few times by now.

Radhika looked at Ishika and got up. Ishika bent down to touch Arjun's feet and he pats Ishika's head giving her blessings. Then she touched Radhika's feet.

"Bless you baccha"

"I... I am sorry mummy ji. I woke up late.. my alarm didn't ring so.."

Radhika smiles and cups Ishika's cheeks with a hand.

"It's okay .. you must be tired. The chef has already prepared the breakfast. All you need to do is make something sweet."

Ishika just smiled at how gentle Radhika was unlike her aunt.

But her calmness has a limit.

'a sweet dish.. a sweet dish.. why did Bhabhi never teach me how to make kheer or halwa or anything sweet? What am I supposed to do..'

these thoughts were running in her mind with a smile plastered on her face.

Radhika led Ishika into the kitchen.

" See I already have all the stuff needed to make kheer on the counter so that you don't have to look for anything. If you need anything just call me okay?"

Ishika just nodded. She was scared to tell Radhika about her world-class cooking skills. Radhika smiled and left the kitchen leaving Ishika alone.

"Now what do I do... how am I supposed to do will YouTube help me? Or it will stab me back like it did with a saree."

Ishika took her phone and looked for a recipe to make kheer. She understood and started making kheer.

"Ganpati Bappa if this works out I'll give you one coconut every Tuesday but help me this time"

Ishika spoke looking up at the ceiling.

"Ganpati Bappa won't help you... I can help you though"

she heard a familiar voice and there he was her husband to save her day.

'I am sure he must be thinking I am good for nothing... Why god why.. I asked for him but you decided to embarrass me? Why why why!!!'.

He walked in with his hands tucked in his pockets.

"You don't know how to make kheer?"

Ishika shook her head

"But I can make the rest of things... it's just Kheer I don't know how to"

spoke with a pout on her lips. Abhimanyu's heart did a big summersault he just wanted to kiss her pouty lips.

Abhimanyu got a small stool from the living room and kept it near the counter. He held Ishika's hand and made her sit on the stool.

"I'll make Kheer you sit down"

ishika shook her head getting up.

"But it's my paheli rasoi.. how can you make it?"

"You make it, I make it, what's the difference?"

Abhimanyu asked, looking deep in her eyes. Ishika's heartbeats raised hearing his words and it also warmed her heart.

She thought she would struggle here from the first day itself but nah to her surprise her first was going well of course with the help of her husband.

Abhimanyu had a satisfactory smile seeing a red hue on Ishika's cheeks. He started with washing the rice. Ishika sat there with her face resting on her palm watching her husband's every move.

He looked so handsome when focused on something. His eyes... His eyes were the most attractive part of him. If anyone looks in his eyes they will be just lost in them.

Soon he was done making Kheer and it smelled so nice...

"Thank you and sorry to make you do all the work" Ishika spoke with a guilty look.

"Why are you thanking me or apologizing to me? Aren't we husband and wife? We are gonna spend a whole life together so why not share some work together?"

'Spend a life together' this line struck Ishika the most.

'Life together means he isn't planning on leaving me? Will he stay with me and support me? Will he? Should I trust him?'
