Chapter 1349
Julian’s Stand-In Wife
âI know.â
Diana had already restrained her emotions, and was trying to think of some happy things.
âThis time, I might not be able to endure until the full term. I might need a cesarean section.â
In other words, the time for the cesarean section hadnât been determined yet.
Nina was cautious in this regard. âJust follow the doctorâs advice, okay? When necessary, Iâll bring Vans and stay with you.â
When Nina mentioned Vans with such familiarity, Diana asked with delight, âHave you two reconciled?â
Perhaps Jim had taken care of it when she mentioned the Jenningses to him? If that was the case, she needed to call and thank him.
However, Nina didnât answer. She just smiled. It was a bashful smile, and she obviously didnât want Diana to inquire further.
Ignoring Ninaâs expression, Diana said seriously, âNina.â
She held Ninaâs hand, and asked solemnly, âHas the Jenningses taken the initiative to draw a clear line with Vans?â
âHow is that possible?â Nina smiled bitterly. âLina likes Vans more than ever! Sheâs anxious to marry him.âBooks Chapters Are Daily Updated Join & Stay Updated For All Books Updatesâ¦
That meant Jim didnât handle the problem. Diana thought that she would call him in the evening to ask.
But now, she had more important questions to ask Nina. âDid Vans agree?â
Nina tightened her grip on the bedsheet, involuntarily wrinkling it. âHe agreed.â
âBut.â She tightened and then loosened her grip on the bedsheet periodically. âHe doesnât love her.â
Diana almost laughed at the way Nina downplayed the seriousness of her words.
âSo what? He doesnât love her, but he still wants to marry her. He loves you, but canât marry you.â
Hearing the urgency in Dianaâs tone, Nina also became anxious. âItâs not his fault. Heâs done a lot already. I just need to give him some time.â
She held Dianaâs hand, and continued, âAs long as I endure for a year or two, Vans can give me a future.â
âAnd during these two years, are you going to stay by his side as his mistress?â
Nina became even more anxious. This wasnât the first time they discussed this issue. Last time, though, Diana was more subtle in her words. It had never been explicitly addressed before.
But today, Diana spoke with particular sharpness.
âNina! Wake up! If Vans demands this of you, he doesnât deserve your love!â
He wasnât worthy of Nina! She deserved better!
âIâm not the mistress,â Nina said, taking a deep breath. She glanced at Dianaâs belly, and finally suppressed the anger. âHe said that no matter how much pressure the Jenningses and Stanleys put on him, he wonât get married.â
Diana was almost amused. âEven if he doesnât get married, isnât it still a fact that heâs engaged? Isnât it a fact that he meets and dines with Lina regularly?â
That was indeed a fact.
Nina couldnât find words to respond to that.
Something seemed to be clawing at her heart.
âDiana.â The anger surged in her again. She looked up to see Dianaâs face. âStop talking.â
However, Diana was angry.
She really didnât want Nina to continue like this. âNina. Vansâs actions show a lack of responsibility. You mustââ
âWhat about Julian?â
Ninaâs retort left Diana momentarily stunned. For a moment, she couldnât react.
âHuh?â She raised her head, looking at Nina with confusion.
Ninaâs lips curled into a mocking expression that Diana had never seen before. She reminded Diana, âStand-in.â
She looked at Diana, arms crossed and adopting a defensive posture.
