Chapter 650
Wooing My Ex-Wife
Cedrick was stumped. âIâm not. I swear.â
âThen, arenât you going to explain what happened between you and Natasha?â Gwendolyn pressed, not intending to let him off.
The man fell silent.
C-Can I really tell her? Sheâs going to punch me when we get back to the hotel.
Cedrick fell silent and mustered up the courage before speaking.
âGrandpa had already passed away when I agreed to get engaged to her, so there was no need to worry about having to go through such risks again.â
Gwendolyn nodded knowingly. âYou felt that the Wright family was already safe, so even if she were to marry you, you wouldnât have to worry about Maverickâs death. Still, that meant you still liked her, right?
You were s o resolute when you divorced me, and then you got engaged to her not long after.â
Her voice was calm, but there was a hint of iciness in it.
Cedrick didnât know what to say.
He knew he was at fault.
âI never liked her. It was always you. I wasnât clear about my own thoughts when I announced our engagement. It was also because she braved the storm and came over to the villa. She even brought up how grateful she was because I saved her, so I agreed to the engagement after weighing the pros and cons. The man took Gwendolynâs hand and caressed it lightly. âPlease, Darlingâ¦â he cooed somewhat pleadingly.
Gwendolyn retracted her hand, walked a few steps forward, and placed two bouquets of white flowers before Maverickâs gravestone. âThese are all your own doings, Mr. Jenson. I have nothing to do with them, she said frostily.
Cedrick leaned over. Noticing her expression, he asked, âAre you upset?â
âNo.â
âYou are. Itâs written all over your face.â
Gwendolyn continued facing Maverickâs grave, ignoring the man beside her.
âIâm sorry,â Cedrick admitted. âI know Natasha hurt you a lot of times in the past, and while sheâs paid the price and is no longer in this world, itâs true that I used to protect her. If youâre mad at me, you can take it out on me.â
He grabbed Gwendolynâs hand and put it on his face, looking remorseful.
Gwendolyn shot him a glare, deliberately sounding stern. âI am quite mad, actually.â
âYou can punish me according to your familyâs rules, Darling.â
The woman snickered. âFifty lashes with a belt, then. How about that?â
Cedrick clenched his jaw and gulped in silence before nodding. âOkay.â
Amused by his willingness to accept his impending fate, Gwendolyn whispered into his ear, âWhat if I want the punishment carried out right now?â
Huht Cedrick began to lose his usually-calm demeanor. âR-Right now? Here?â
The woman stared at him grimly, neither confirming nor denying her statement. Still, she didnât appear to be joking.
Cedrick held his breath and glanced around at the desolate cemetery, his usually-dark gaze now laced with a tinge of panic, Am I really going to be punished at a place like this? This is too bizarre.
His charming face paled as he tensed up and braced himself.
Seeing how serious he looked, Gwendolyn couldnât help but laugh. âYouâre so silly! Letâs go.â
She tapped him on the forehead and held his hand, dragging him out of Fairlake Cemetery.
Cedrick looked down at the way she took his hand in hers.
She held my hand, so that means sheâs not mad anymore, right? Was she just messing with me?
He bent down and put an arm behind Gwendolynâs knees, picking her up.
Having been swept off her feet out of the blue, the woman hastily wrapped her arms around his neck.
âWhat are you doing, being all lovey-dovey in front of all these gravestones? Have you lost your mind?â
âIâm not being lovey-dovey or deliberately flaunting our love,â Cedrick stated matter-of-factly. âThis is just the way I treat you on a daily basis. I donât want your feet to hurt from walking in those heels, so I decided to carry you. This is also my way of sincerely making up for my past mistakes.â
Gwendolyn chuckled and inched closer to him. âBut youâre just carrying me. Thatâs nothing for a man like you, right, Mr. Jenson? How is that supposed to reflect your sincerity?â
Cedrickâs arms stiffened as he saw the mischievous look on her face. Surely, she had a wicked plan in mind.
âWhat do you think I should do, then, Gwenny?â
âYou shouldâ¦â The woman leaned into his ear and whispered something intimate and outrageous, her warm breath falling on his neck.
Cedrickâs ears reddened instantly. âDo we really have to do this?â he asked after a long moment of internal struggle.
Gwendolyn couldnât contain her laughter. âI canât believe it. Weâre already husband and wife, but youâre still embarrassed by such a thing?â
The man was bereft of words. Of course, heâd still be embarrassed.
Cedrickâs limbs remained stiff throughout the journey back to the hotel in their luxurious car, and the mere thought of Gwendolynâs puckish command made his heart race.
As they walked into the hotel elevator, the woman patted his firm, bouncy rear teasingly.
âYouâre already almost thirty, and youâre still so uptight even with your own wife! I remember how forthcoming you were the last time you screwed up?
Cedrick stared at her wanly. âAre you calling me old?â he asked in return. âWell, itâs true that Iâm five years older than you, unlike those young trainees at Angle.â Feeling aggrieved, he reached for her waist and pulled her into an embrace. âStill, Iâm far more experienced than those boys, and I know exactly how to make you happy. My staminaâs way better too, which means I can satisfy you best,â he added, his voice turning hoarse.
With a laugh, Gwendolyn shoved his face aside. âYouâre such a showoff!â
Ding As they arrived at their designated floor, Cedrick took a deep breath, ready to receive his judgment.
The couple headed into their presidential suite, where Cedrick began to undress by the large bed, revealing his alluring collarbones, toned abs, and solid thighs.
His masculine scent permeated the air.
While biting onto a leather belt, the man lay on his stomach on one side of the bed.
âDo whatever you want to me, Darling. Iâm all yours today.â
Gwendolyn gently patted his bum, pleased by how it felt in her hand.
Then, she swung an open palm at it. The pain was moderate, but the slap caused his skin to swell up slightly and turn a lovely shade of pink.
She closed the curtains in the presidential suite, and the darkness masked all their sweet sounds.
When they were done, Gwendolyn lay in Cedrickâs arms, completely exhausted as he massaged the back of her waist from time to time.
The woman slept soundly while curled up in her husbandâs embrace like a lazy kitten.
Cedrick observed her exquisite face before leaning over to brush his nose against hers.
âIt looks like you could use more practice, Darling. Youâre nowhere near what I used to be, so just sit back and let me please you.â
His eyes filled with warmth and also dominance, the man kissed her on the forehead, lips, check, and chir as though claiming every part of her as his.
Slap!
Suddenly, a half-asleep Gwendolyn struck his forehead.
âBehave. Iâm trying to regain my energy.
Cedrick grew despondent.
Not even a kiss? Forget it. Thereâs no love anymore.
