Chapter 602 Get Used To It Soon
Wooing My Ex-Wife
While he was feeling frustrated over that thought, the burly man behind him hit his head.
Xander yelped in pain, his head spinning. There was something sticky flowing down the side of his head.
The world spun around him, and he felt as if he was momentarily cast into hell.
Did he break my skull? What the h*ll is this?
âHelp! Iâm getting killed! Someone save me!â he shouted toward the outside of the cell, but no one answered him.
Even the other men locked up with him were quietly sitting at the side, watching him get beat up by the burly man. They had no intention of helping him out.
Xander was thin and weak, so he would not be able to withstand many punches from the big man.
While he was being made into a human punching bag by the big man, he shouted, âI hate Cedrick! He has always bullied me since young! Iâm going to kill him one day and make him pay the price for what he did to me!â
At that, the big man stopped assaulting him. Taking in Xanderâs fear, he scoffed in disdain. âYou canât even beat me in a fight. What makes you think you can kill Cedrick?â
Xander finally had a break from the beating. Every bruised spot was screaming in agony, but Xander wiped the blood coming out of his nose with his sleeve before gritting out, âYouâre right. I canât win him in a fight, but I have the brains. My father is Yael Jenson. Once Iâm out of here, Iâm going to make Cedrick pay!â
The big man was starting to believe him. âIs your father a powerful man? Can he really win against Cedrick?â
Xander was spouting nonsense, but to avoid getting beaten again, he was voluntarily lying through his teeth.
âOf course! My dadâs way more powerful than Cedrick. If my grandfather hadnât helped Cedrick out, my father would have been the head of the household! But my grandfather is old now. Once he dies, Cedrick wonât have anyone backing him up anymore. Heâll be an easy target for me and my father.
Thatâs why Cedrickâs in such a rush to get rid of me. I wonât let him get his way!â
As he looked at the big man with an appeasing smile, he continued, âHas Cedrick hurt many of of your friends? Donât worry. Once Iâm out of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Iâll definitely take revenge on him on behalf of you!â
The big man then began studying Xander. Though Xander had a bloodied face, even the way he was pushing his glasses seemed to set him apart from the average person.
âMy name is Raoul Wagler. If you can really help me take revenge on Cedrick and get him off his pedestal, youâll be my savior. From now on, youâll have my protection in Salinsburghâs underworld.â
Xander was elated. He never thought that his misfortune in being locked up in the Federal Bureau of Investigationâs cell would somehow bring about something so lucky.
âThank you, Mr. Raoul. I wonât go back on my words. Cedrickâs time is up once Iâm out of this cell.â
Raoul somberly patted Xanderâs shoulder. âRemember what youâve said. Iâll make sure that youâre safe here for the following days. No one in this cell will dare to lay a finger on you, but when you get out of here, you have to remember our promise. Of course, Iâll find a way to contact you to find out your progress.â
At that, Xander froze.
He had just been lying to get out of his situation, but it seemed like Raoul was going to cling to him.
He was the son of the Jenson family. How could he possibly spend time with ruffians like Raoul?
Furthermore, the big man was emotionally unstable. Who knew when Raoul would burn bridges in the future?
Despite Xanderâs scorn of Raoul, he kept his feelings off his face and agreed to Raoulâs words.
With the big manâs protection, Xander was soon living like a king in the cell.
He was first to use the toilet, and he was first to drink and eat what the officers brought to them. He could even pick a dry and cleaner spot in the cell.
Only half an afternoon had passed since then, but Xander was already getting full of himself.
He was bored, for he did not have his phone with him. The men could do nothing else but stare at each other.
A wicked idea formed in his head. âI always hear that the soapâdropping act is common in prison, but I havenât seen it before.â Pointing to the weakestâlooking and thinnest two men in the cell, Xander said, âWhy donât you two show me how it goes?â
At that, Raoul immediately shot a look at the others. The two men that Xander had picked were immediately lifted to a standing position by the other criminals.
Both thrashed vigorously as they pleaded, âSirs, please let me go! This is disgusting! I can never do this!â
Xander was enjoying the pleasure of tormenting others. Furthermore, no one would know what happened here after he left the place, so he scoffed and said, âYouâll get used to it soon. Either do as I say, or you get beaten up and will be sleeping in the restroom tonight. Take your pick.â
The two men shared a look, and the others dragged them to an empty spot.
On the verge of breaking down, one of the men pointed a finger and yelled at Xander, âYouâre a black sheep of your family! Youâre a shame to the Jenson family! No wonder Mr. Cedrick sent you here! Iâm sure you wonât be able to defeat him, you revolting animal!â
Livid, Xander whipped his head to Raoul and said, âCripple him, Mr. Raoul! Letâs see if he still dares to insult me after that!â
Though Raoul was a little annoyed by Xander ordering him around, for the sake of Xander exacting revenge for him, he kept his annoyance silent as he stood up and walked over to the trembling men.
One of his lackeys stopped him. âWagler, I donât think Xanderâs that reliable. If heâs really capable of killing Cedrick, he wouldnât have been sent here by Cedrick in the first place.â
Xanderâs heart skipped a beat, and he quickly retorted, âAccidents happen. Cedrick even sent my elder brother in here despite my brotherâs capability in martial arts and status in the underworld, so what makes you think itâs strange for me, someone who relies on nothing but my brains, to slip up once?â
At that, Raoulâs lackey fell silent.
He could not possibly say that Raoul was also unreliable and was dumb enough to be tricked by Xander, could he?
A man sitting in the corner then suddenly spoke up. âMr. Xander, what is the name of your impressive father?â
âMy fatherâs name is Yael Jenson.â
Everyone in the cell quietly repeated that name, including Raoul.
Everyone in Salinsburgh had only heard of the devil Cedrick; they had never heard of Yael.
In the next instance, the man in the corner chuckled. âI doubt anyone here has ever heard of that name, but I have. For the past few years, Yael has been working in a minor post in a district. He doesnât have any authority in the Jenson family at all. How could he possibly fight against Mr. Cedrick?â
Raoul instantly understood what he meant and seized Xanderâs collar in fury. âHow dare you lie to me?â
Xander/shook his head fervently. âI didnât! The power my dad had back then was far more powerful than Cedrickâs. He was only demoted from his role to a small company in the district because he was set up by Cedrick, but heâs been gathering various forces. Once Iâm out of here, Iâll definitely be able to work with him to crush Cedrick!â
1 Raoul was still holding his collar, though he did not punch Xander. It seemed like he was hesitant as to whether or not he should believe in the latter.
The man in the corner continued, âI overheard the officersâ conversation last night. The father that Mr.
Xander talks about, Mr. Yael, seems to be locked up in the Federal Bureau of Investigation too. If my guess is right, heâs just a few rooms down from this one.â.
If both the father and son were locked up, they were isolated from the outside world. How were they going to go up against Cedrick?
Raoul reached the peak of his anger and slapped Xander.
Stunned by the force, Xander fell to the ground and could not get back up on his feet.
âYou b*stard! How dare you lie to me and ordered me and my boys around the entire afternoon? Do you think us as fools?â
Xander held his aching cheek and continued struggling to get up. Before he could succeed, Raoul stepped on his kneecap. Xanderâs pain reflected on his face, and he screamed in agony. âI didnât! I didnât! Cedrick and I are enemies. He wonât feel bad if you mistreat me! Heâll even be happy about it!â
Still, Xander had lorded over Raoulâs lackeys the entire afternoon, so they were obviously enraged now. They promptly rushed over to lift Xander to an upright position.
âWâWhat are you trying to do?â
Raoul grabbed Xanderâs chin and momentarily stared at Xanderâs bruised but handsome face. A malicious. grin grew on his lips.
âSince you wanted your cellmates to perform the soapâdropping act, why donât you play the part of the lead and show us what itâs like first?â
Xander shook his head in a frenzied manner. âNo! I canât! No way!â
How could he? He was the scion of the Jenson family!
But Raoul sneered and repeated what Xander had said earlier. âItâs all right. Youâll get used to it soon.
Either do as I say, or youâll get beaten up. Take your pick.â
