Chapter 573 Changing In A Snap
Wooing My Ex-Wife
By now, Sienna became increasingly convinced by what Gwendolyn had told her before.
While she was deep in thought, Annie had signed the document, grabbed an ink pad, and pressed Gwendolynâs thumb onto the ink.
Annie maintained a calm gaze and kept her intentions hidden after doing all that in one go, no longer acting like a harmless rabbit.
She passed the document to Sienna. âWith this waiver, Harris Group rightfully belongs to Mr. Asher.
You can rest easy now, Mrs. Harris.â
Sienna glanced through the details. âBut Gwendolynâs only unconscious for now and will wake up eventually. She didnât even sign this document on her own. What if she denies having signed it?â
Annie remained composed. âDonât worry. Iâll be taking her away tonight, so she wonât show up for a while. I still suggest you talk Mr. Asher into taking office, though. Things may get complicated if the matter gets dragged on.â
Sienna furrowed her brows. âWhere will you take her?â
âThis isnât something you should be asking, Mrs. Harris. Our agreement was for me to help Mr. Asher regain whatâs his and relinquish Gwendolynâs power. With this document, everything will be accomplished. Iâve done my part, so I should be getting what I want nextâand all I want is to take Gwendolyn away.â
âYou!â
Without waiting for Sienna to continue, Annie whipped out her phone and sent a voice message in Epean. âIâve got Gwendolyn all tied up. Get her out of here now.â
In less than two minutes, the new chef from Ospea removed his apron and chefâs uniform to reveal a black suit fitting for a bodyguard.
Per Annieâs instructions, he entered the guest room, swiftly placed the unconscious Gwendolyn over his shoulder, and turned to leave.
Sienna went after them, feeling slightly anxious. âWhat are you planning, Annie? Weâre in Chanaea!
Youâre basically kidnapping if you take her away with you like this. If anything were to happen to her, do you think youâd get to avoid jail time just because youâre Ospean?â
Given that she was so close to achieving her goal, Annie disregarded Sienna and followed the bodyguard closely, walking along the aisle and preparing to head down the stairs.
âHold it right there.â Right then, a deep, hoarse voice sounded out.
Annie stopped in her tracks and turned around slowly, only to notice Asher walking over laboriously with -one hand against the wall for support, seemingly in excruciating pain due to his leg.
âPut her down,â the man ordered sternly, his eyes gleaming with an intense look of authority.
Annieâs eyes were bloodshot as she asserted, âI gave you exactly what you wanted, Mr. Asher, but thereâs something Gwendolyn owes me. I want it back from her, and you canât stop me.â
Filled with rage, Asher raised his hand and slapped her across the face.
Slap!
The crisp sound echoed across the hallway.
Even Sienna was shocked, for she had not expected Asher to strike the woman.
Annie was slapped so hard that her head tilted to one side, and it wasnât long before a red handprint appeared on her cheek.
With a grim expression, she rubbed her face to soothe the burning pain.
A while later, she tamped down her rage and sneered instead of lashing out at Asher. âThatâs how you want it to be? Fine. I wonât take that slap to heart, but Iâm still taking her away, and you donât have a say in this.â
Amidst the tense atmosphere, the woman once again took out her phone and dialed Paulâs number.
âHoney, are you waiting for me at the bottom of Mount Tranquil? You can send your men to come get me now,â she said coyly. âMr. Asher doesnât want me to leave with Gwendolyn, so Iâll need your help!â
There werenât many bodyguards on Mount Tranquil tonight.
Gwendolyn had assigned many of them elsewhere, saying that more hands were needed to guard a new project that was in the midst of development.
Thus, Paul and his men could make their way over with little to no hassle.
As he was still injured, Asher was too weak to do anything about it. He could only stand by and watch Annie and Paul leave with an unconscious Gwendolyn.
Several black vans soon sped away and left the mountain in a flash before disappearing into the night.
Asher was so livid that he punched the wall, causing Sienna to rush over and check on him. âItâs okay, this is all still within Gwenâs control. She always knows what sheâs doing, so everything will be fine.
Weâll just wait for her to take care of things,â she said, trying to console Asher.
Asher turned around and glared at her. âThatâs nonsense! What if she didnât know what she was doing, and you just went along with her like an idiot?â
Sore about getting lectured when she was only trying to console him, Sienna retorted, âWell, Iâm not as clueless as you are. At least I know who to side with! What about you? If you keep playing dumb, youâre going to end up on your own, and no one in the family will acknowledge you!â
Asher sighed and said, âCedrickâs currently on a business trip, so heâs brought his best assistants along with him. Kiddo doesnât have her biggest support around to help her.â
He continued, âPaulâs movements may be restricted while heâs in Chanaea, but heâs still an Ospean noble. Even if he ends up killing someone in Chanaea, Ospea will send a diplomat over to have him return to his own country for the trial. With his power in Ospea, he could just find a scapegoat and get himself out of trouble. Annie has him as her support, so it certainly wonât be easy for Kiddo to handle this when Cedrickâs not around.â
A crease formed between Siennaâs brows as she listened to his explanation. Despite her anxiousness, she still believed in Gwendolyn.
âEven if Cedrickâs not here, she still has you, doesnât she? Youâll have to be her support. get that Kiddo tends to hold grudges, but she also remembers all the good done to her. This is your chance to patch things up with her, Hubby!â
Asher looked down and shook his head. âItâs been about a year since I resigned and stayed home doing nothing. Iâm not as influential as I used to be. Cedrickâs definitely far more powerful than I am now.â
He couldnât guarantee Gwendolynâs safety if anything were to happen to her.
Still, he would do his best to protect herâwhether or not she would forgive him when it was over.
With that in consideration, the man made a call to have a private army check the roadsâ surveillance cameras so they could locate and rescue his sister.
Meanwhile, the stillâunconscious Gwendolyn had been placed in the back of one of the vans.
The two bodyguards watching her noted how exquisite she looked. Although she had passed out, there was no hiding her stunning beauty.
On top of that, since she was tied up, her posture accentuated her voluptuous body. The guards couldnât help ogling at her curves.
Eyes filled with lust, the men gulped and attempted to touch Gwendolynâs silky skinâonly to be stopped by Annie.
âKeep your hands to yourselves,â she ordered from the front. âIf you touch her where you shouldnât, Iâll have Paul mince your hands and feed them to the dogs.
A chill ran down the bodyguardsâ spines. âYes, Maâam!
âRemember thisâyou donât get to touch Gwendolyn even if she ends up my slave or if I torture her to death,â Annie added frostily.
âUnderstood, Ms. Annie! Sheâs yours, so we will never dare to lay a finger on her.â
Seeing the two men behave themselves, Annie retracted her gaze as her usual cheery and nonchalant demeanor returned.
The bodyguards shuddered at the sight. Her personality changes in a snap! Thatâs terrifying.
