Chapter 491
The Greatest Man Alive
Josiah didnât expect Mr. MacMillan from the Health Bureau to be there. After being reminded of this, he hurriedly excused himself to Adrian, then went to the next box with his glass.
âWhoâs in the next box?â Adrian asked Molie.
âItâs Samuel, the director of Neva Hospital, and Mr. MacMillan from the Health Bureau,â Molie said.
Adrian nodded casually and didnât say anything.
Josiah entered the room and was shocked to see Mr. MacMillan and Samuel. He hurriedly said, âSorry.
Mr. MacMillan, Mr. Hood, I didnât know you guys were here. Otherwise, I would have come over to make a toast!â
âIâm so sorry!â Then he picked up his glass and drank it down in one go. âI will drink first to apologize to you!â
Samuel, however, said coldly, âMr. Wells, youâre amazing. Youâve got exchange places with the Méreau Clinic, so you donât care about us, the leaders of the higher hospitals and the bigwigs of the Health Bureau?â
Josiah shivered and hurriedly said, âMr. Hood, how could I have thought that? I just found out that Mr.
MacMillan was here. Therefore, I immediately came here to make a toast!â
Mr. MacMillanâs face was gloomy. He also felt that it was rude for Josiah, the director of the county hospital, to come to Mimar City and not pay a visit to himself at first.
Samuelâs words made him even angrier.
âI think what Mr. Hood said is true,â Mr. MacMillan looked at Josiah and sneered.
Josiah paled in fear and said, âMr. MacMillan, have I offended you?â
Mr. MacMillan said coldly, âDonât you know if youâve offended me?â
Samuel sneered, âAll Grade-A tertiary hospitals refuse to work with Poly Pharmaceutical, but your hospital works with it. You have a lot of nerve to disobey Mr. MacMillan.â
Josiah said awkwardly, âMr. Hood, Mr. MacMillan, Iâm just following the orders of the provincial government.â
âOrders from the provincial government? Why donât I know that?â Mr. MacMillan tapped the table and asked coldly, starting to embarrass Josiah.
Josiah didnât dare to speak because Mr. MacMillan was a very powerful person in the medical community of Neva Province, and he didnât dare to mess with him. If he pissed off Mr. MacMillan, he might be fired tomorrow.
âMr. MacMillan, donât be angry. Itâs easy to handle this matterâ¦â Samuel echoed.
âMr. Hood, how to solve it?â Mr. MacMillan said.
âHave Mr. Wells give up all those places. Have Mr. Wells tell the Méreau Clinic that they arenât good enough to exchange with the Méreau Clinic,â Samuel said.
Mr. MacMillan nodded slightly and said, âMr. Wells, what do you think of Mr. Hoodâs suggestion?â
Josiah understood. This time, the Méreau Clinicâs exchange had excluded all Grade-A tertiary hospitals, making Mr. MacMillan and Samuel unhappy. But it was out of his control!
Instead, they blamed him, making him feel uncomfortable and confused.
âMr. MacMillan, this is something I canât control. Even if I refused the Méreau Clinic, they wouldnât necessarily be willing to yield the place to Mr. Hood and other Grade-A tertiary hospitals,â Josiah said with resignation.
âI donât care if they give us a place or not. But your people canât go, and the same goes for the people from the other township hospitals!â Mr. MacMillan said brutally and domineeringly.
âIf your people set foot in the Méreau Clinic, Iâll have you fired tomorrow! I am not kidding!â
When Josiah heard Mr. MacMillanâs harsh words, his face clouded over.
He gritted his teeth fiercely and said, âMr. MacMillan, you are hindering the development of medicine in Neva Province! I disagree. I will go!â
Mr. MacMillan didnât think a small county hospital director would dare to disobey an order.
Angry, he kicked Josiah to the ground and said furiously, âJosiah, how dare you disobey me!â
Samuel said coldly, âThe director of a small county hospital dares to anger Mr. MacMillan. You are so bold. Are you confused?â
Josiah clenched his fist tightly and didnât say anything.
Just at this time, Adrian came into the box and helped Josiah up from the floor.
Then, he smiled and said, âMr. Wells and his doctors will be there, and they will be there openly and honorably.â
Samuelâs face fell when he saw Adrian.
He said coldly, âWho let you in? Get out of here. Is this a place for you to come?â
Josiah said helplessly, âMr. Evans, itâs useless even if I go there. I would be removed from my position and have nowhere to utilize my skillsâ¦â
âNo, you have plenty of places to shine! If you get fired, Iâll make sure you get a job at the Méreau Clinic⦠Besides, with me here, no one can fire you.â Adrian smiled lightly and patted the dust on his body.
Josiah was stunned!
Samuel froze, then laughed uncontrollably and said, âWhat are you talking about? What a joke! You think of yourself as Mr. MacMillan?â
Mr. MacMillan also laughed outright, shook his head, and said, âMr. Evans is so awesome. Can you stop me from dismissing a director?â
Adrian raised his hand at Mr. MacMillan and said, âHmm? Try itâ¦â
Mr. MacMillan took out his cell phone without saying a word. Adrian also took out his cell phone.
Mr. MacMillan said, âFire Josiah from Rivera County Hospital!â
Adrian said, âMr. Wells at Rivera County Hospital is a good person. Leaders, please pay attention to himâ¦â
The two men finished their phone calls.
Mr. MacMillan sneered and said to Adrian, âYou canât keep him. The papers will be issued in a few minutes. Josiah, youâre working with the wrong people, so go home!â
Adrian said, âMr. Wells, please feel free to take the doctors to study tomorrow and exchange experiences for the benefit of the people and society.â
Josiah didnât know whose words to believe for a moment. After all, both of them were big shots with high status. Moreover, Mr. MacMillan was a big shot from the Health Bureau.
The next moment, Mr. MacMillanâs cell phone rang.
After he saw the caller ID, his face clouded over.
After answering, he heard his old leader cough and say, âMr. Wells of Rivera County is a pragmatic man. Donât look for trouble with him.â
âSir, how did this alarm youâ¦â Mr. MacMillan said in shock âUgh⦠Leave this matter alone. Donât mess with him. Keep a low profile these days!â The old leader said with a sigh.
The phone call Adrian just made was to Fredo.
Fredo was dissatisfied with the hypocritical people of Neva Provinceâs Grade-A tertiary hospitals. Only because of the struggle at the top and the fact that Noah, an important foreign guest, was involved, he had not struck out.
Grade-A tertiary hospitalsâ refusal to cooperate with Poly Pharmaceutical may seem simple, but it was very complicated. There were some high-level struggles involved, which could not be explicitly stated.
Now that Adrian, through the Méreau Clinic, was striking a blow at those guys who disagreed with Fredo.
Fredo naturally had to defend Adrian and his people.
