The Greatest Man Alive
Chapter 379 How Dare He Gussie had studied abroad for several years. The coffee she had made tasted very aromatic.
Nathan saw how wary she was. He wondered warily, âShe canât spit in the coffee, can she?â
âWalden and Civil Disobedience? Thatâs a dangerous way of thinkingâ¦â Nathan laughed lightly as he pi cked up a book on the desk, accosting.
Gussie, however, held her chin up and pouted gently in a cute way, ignoring Nathanâs accost.
Nathan asked, âWhatâs on your mind?â
Gussie then said, âIâm wondering if you are asking me to go to practice is as malicious as asking me to
play badminton with you!â
âAhem, no way. I really canât play badminton.â Nathan explained.
Gussie looked at her in disbelief. Then she carefully tugged at her skirt and folded her beautiful legs in
a different direction.
The atmosphere was awkward when Nathan received a phone call from Wendy.
Nathan thanked Wendy sincerely for helping him to defuse the awkwardness. He hurriedly answered th e call.
âMs. Wendy, what can I do for you?â Nathan said with a smile, speaking to Wendy with increasing ease .
Wendy was also in a good mood and said, âOur industry chain has fully broken through Porter Group allianceâs blockade and is now starting a major co unterâ
attack Just now, Iâve received several calls from people who have come to me to find out whatâs going
on. They wanted to know, by the way, whether I have fifty billion dollars or not.â
Nathan said, âHmm, and then?â
Wendy said, âI got some death threats too.â
Nathan said, âDonât pay any attention to them. Just do your own thing. Iâll keep you safe. Theyâll have to deal with me first before they touch you!â
The death of James showed the men that it was not enough to solve Wendy, but Nathan was the big b oss.
Even if they did kill Wendy, no one would be able to withstand Nathanâs insane revenge.
James, who lived in the military compound, had been killed and decapitated. So where else in the worl d was safe?
Nathan talked to Wendy for a while and then hung up the phone.
âItâs a dangerous time these days. You need to be careful too.â Nathan said after he put the phone dow n, âBut youâre also very trustworthy, turning down so many temptations.â
Gussie asked in surprise, âYou knew all about it?â
She was the secretary of Poly Capital, so naturally, she was in a position of power. The conspirators ha d sent people to contact her, offering generous terms. But she had refused them all.
She always believed that Poly Capital would give her room for advancement and that she could compet e with the Reagan family with her efforts!
Nathan said calmly, âI donât go to the company much, but I know everything big and small. I even know
a lot of people are betraying the companyâs interests.â
Gussie said, âWell, why donât you find these people and fire them all?â
âFire them?â
âThat would be too easy on them!â
âThe information they gave away was all leaked by me, just to mislead Natasha.â
âWhen this business war is over, Iâll get them imprisoned for a few years.â
Nathan said with a sneer. There was no room for mercy for traitors and they would be able to make use of traitors.
Gussie realized how sinister Nathan was as a capitalist. It was like torturing a manâs mindâ¦.
Nathan finished his coffee and said with a smile, âMs. Reagan, can I have a refill?â
Gussie glared at him and walked over to take the coffee cup. Then she went to refill it for him.
âIn the future, you need to be less timid. Be tougher, be bolder and donât always be a wimp.â Nathan to ok the refilled cup of coffee and took a sip, admonishing.
âIâd like to⦠but Iâm always less confident than those guys.â Gussie sighed.
âWhat are you afraid of? Iâm your boss, Iâm supporting you!â Nathan said unhappily.
Gussie said with gratitude, âThanks, Iâm always being bullied and always giving you trouble.â
Nathan said, âYeah, well, Iâve helped you out so many times. You need to change yourself. Iâll take you
to practice martial arts and hopefully make you more courageous.â
Gussie nodded seriously and then said, âDo I need to prepare anything for training with you? What do I need to wear?â
Nathan rolled his eyes after hearing the silly words and said, âSportswear, of course. Do you want to pr actice in stockings and heels? I wouldnât mind feasting my eyes. But Iâm afraid you canât.â
Gussie blushed and felt that her question was silly.
She found that she was overwhelmed at every turn in front of Nathan. Her intelligence was completely useless.
âHow should I pay backâ¦â Gussie sighed slightly sadly, feeling that she owed too many favors.
âPay me with your breasts! I donât mind.â Nathan slapped his chest with bravado.
Gussie was instantly furious. Out of anger, she simply puffed out her chest and said angrily, âYou joke e very day. If youâve got the guts, come and touch it!â
Nathan swallowed and trembled as he reached out his hand.
When Gussie saw that he dared to reach out, she was so stunned. Her body stiffened on the spot, and
she didnât move.
âTaâda.â
Nathanâs hand landed on the swollen shirt.
Then they faced each other, wideâeyed.
âAhhhh, pervert, get out!â Gussie suddenly stood up in a flash and gave Nathan a violent shove, nearly causing him to stumble.
Before Nathan could react, Gussie shoved him again, pushing him to the door.
After five or six pushes, Nathan was pushed straight out the door by Gussie.
âHey, hey, hey, donât be angry. You asked me to touch you⦠If you donât like it, I apologize!â Nathan said âGet out of here!â Gussie said and blushed. She slammed the door shut with a bang.
Nathan stretched his hands helplessly and thought, âOh my! She was the one who just told me to touch What made him even more upset was that there were still two layers of clothing over her chest. Why wa Gussie leaned against the door, panting heavily, her face blushing. She was so angry that he had taken her words seriously and he dared to touch herâ¦
Hearing the distant footsteps outside the door, Gussie felt slightly lost in her mood.
Nathan was nice. She was sure that she liked him. But the reason told her not to indulge in this feeling. She should keep her distance from him, as she had said before.
After the footsteps faded, Gussie calmed down slightly. She looked out through the peephole, but it was âHeâs not angry, is he?â Gussie thought.
So, she opened the door.
Then, she regretted it.
Because she saw Nathan looking at her with one hand pressed against the peephole, grinning.
