Chapter 546
The Broken Warrior's Daughter
Chapter 0546 She turns and looks at Patrick, but he is looking at me. âAre you sure youâre strong enough?â He asks.
âTil be fine.â
He nods, then stands. âI'll have someone send you some clothes. Get a shower and be in my office in one hour. And for goddessâs sake, wash your feet.â
I snort at that as he leaves, | start to walk on shaky legs toward the shower in the room. Lily immediately moves and pulls one of my arms over her shoulder, helping me. âClint, | really donât think this is a good idea. You've barely woken up, you havenât eaten in at least two days.â
âLily, what is it going to take for you to realize that nothing is more important to me, than you. Not my health, which will be fine, not food, not sleep. Nothing, not one thing is more important than you. And if Anna is sabotaging us or hurting you, she will answer to me.â
Lily leans me against the sink as she turns on the shower, letting it warm. âAm I going to have to worry about you falling over in the shower?â
âI'll manage.â A week ago, Iâd be inviting her to join me, but now, Iâm just glad she hasnât left.
| pull off my hospital gown and go to stand under the shower spray. It feels incredible. | lean both hands against the wall and let the water wash over my back, watching as the dirt and sweat on my body begins to wash away.
I'm shocked when Lily steps in behind me. âLily, what are you doing?â
âI'm making sure you donât fall and kill yourself, Clint. Behave yourself and donât try anything with me. We're not back to that place yet, but Iâm not going to let you die on my watch because you canât stand upright in a shower on your own.â
| feel her soapy hands begin to rub over my back and sides. | canât help the sigh that leaves my lips. Iâve heard it said that a mate's touch is healing. Itâs true. My body feels stronger and | feel better while sheâs cleaning me. When itâs time for her to wash my hair, | turn, leaning against the wall and bend over so she can more easily reach my head. Her hands on my scalp feel incredible, reminding me our time together. My body instantly responds.
âWhatever you're thinking about, cut it out.â
âIt's hard not to think about the best weekend of my life when my mate is naked in front of me and washing my hair.â | tell her.
Her hands still in my hair for a moment before she directs me back under the shower to rinse it off. She takes extra time cleaning my feet, apologizing for getting them so dirty.
âYou carried me to the hospital Lily. | donât care what my feet look like. And | donât think Iâve actually thanked you for making sure | was treated after the fight. So, thank you.â
When we f finish, she steps out first and | look at her backside for the first time. âWhat the fuck?â
I say, reaching out to grab her. Her butt and thighs are covered in bruises. Most of them are faded, but they are there.
She follows my line of sight and shrugs. âI was immune to the wolfsbane, but that doesnât mean the darts didnât hurt. You took somewhere around 10. Andra took at least twice that since she wasnât going down.
| gently run my fingers over her bruises. âClint.â Itâs a plea more than a warning. She wants me to stop. but sheâs affected by my touch.
| pull my hand away as | hear my phone ping.
âWill you grab that for me?â | say as she hands me a towel.
She comes back in and holds my phone out to me.
âWho was it?â | ask her, not taking my phone.
âUh, Patrick, | think.â
âCan you read me what he said?â
She frowns at me. âI donât know your code.â
â0514.â
She looks up at me, her hands going still.
âYour birthday.â | tell her.
| know what she'll see when she opens my text messages. Itâs why |
asked her to read Patrick's. | see the flicker of her eyes when she sees it.
She looks back up at me and | smile at her.
âOpen it. You'll see they are my texts to you.â
