Chapter 16
My Wife Is A Masquerade Master
Ryan wanted to laugh, but when he saw Nevilleâs tense face, he immediately suppressed the smile on his lips.
Without waiting for Ryan to dismiss him. Neville stood up and said, âI wonât disturb Mr. Blantonâs work.â
As he passed by Madison, he gritted his teeth and said. âYou better put away your tricks to seduce men. Donât embarrass me.â
Madison coldly smiled. She knew Neville didnât genuinely care if she would embarrass him. In his eyes, she was his accessory, and others had no qualifications to be intimate with her.
He imposed restrictions on her but secretly slept with Alison.
Ryanâs gaze swept over the two until Neville left. Only then did he pretend to inquire, âMiss Guzman, do you two know each other?â
Madison responded straightforwardly. âNo, we donât.â
Ryan chuckled and found this married couple quite interesting.
Neville came early in the morning to negotiate for the chance for Madison, while Madison treated him as invisible.
However, it was their personal matter, and Ryan shouldnât intervene. He went straight to the point and said, âOur team has discussed and decided to consider Loveilleâs and the Conner Groupâs proposals.
But according to company regulations, we can only choose one for business collaboration.â
âI understand. You intend to let Loveille have a fair competition with the Conner Group?â
âExactly. Fliwip will give you a design theme. Loveille and the Conner Group will present their best works for the competition. The winner will be decided based on the merits of their designs.â
Madison found that Fliwipâs decision was wise. Using competition to select a partner was both fair and attentionâgrabbing, serving as good publicity for the collaboration.
âI have no objections. What is the theme Fliwip?â
Ryan wrote two words on paper. âWedding Dressesâ
Madisonâs face turned pale instantly, lips devoid of color. Her fingers curled slowly as if she was suppressing something Ryan noticed her reaction. âI remember Elianna is best at designing wedding dresses. Loveilleâs flagship product three years ago was also wedding dresses. Is there a problem?â
Ryan was right. Three years ago, fueled by her anticipation of marriage, Madison focused her passion and romance on designing wedding dresses. She even created a set called âEternal Loveâ for herself, hoping to wear it and live out her own fairy tale.
However, on the eve of the wedding, Madison didnât see her groom and destroyed the wedding dress, vowing neverto design one again.
Every woman had a dream, which was to kiss the one she loved while wearing a wedding dress. But her dream shattered from the beginning.
Madison even swore never to design wedding dresses again in her lifetime.
After a long time, she regained her composure and said, âMr. Blanton, can we change the theme?â
Ryan twirled the pen in his hand. âMiss Guzman, you should understand that I proposed this theme solely for Eliannaâs sake.â
In other words, there was no room for negotiation.
Madison didnât want to miss this opportunity. She took a deep breath and cleared her throat, saying, âAlright, I will convey your words to Elianna.
Ryanâs lips curled into a mysterious smile. âAlso, tell Elianna that 1 admire her, so I have high expectations for her work.â
At that moment, Madison felt like she was being seen through, but she remained calm. After finalizing the details of the competition with Ryan, Madison stood up and left.
To her surprise. Neville was standing outside the door.
He seemed to be on the phone, and upon hearing the door opening behind him, he said. âIâll talk to you later.â
Madison intended to ignore him, but as she passed by, he blocked her way.
âYou donât know me?â he asked Madison frowned and said, âPlease move.â
Neville furrowed his brow. Since she moved out of the Preston family, she seemed to get bolder, daring to speak disrespectfully to him.
He removed the scarf around her neck, glanced at the love bites on her fair neck, and sneered, âWhat a coldâhearted woman. You were happy with me last night, and today you act like you donât know me.â
Madison felt embarrassed and annoyed. âHow dare he have the audacity to bring up last night?â she thought.
Grinding her teeth, Madison lowered her voice and said, âNeville, according to the laws, marital rape is considered illegal I donât mind sending you to prison for a few years.â
Neville didnât get angry. Instead, he smiled and pressed his fingers against the bruise on her lips. âYou still remember that we are married?â
Madison, infuriated, flared up. Sometimes she couldnât understand him.
He despised her, and yet he entangled with Alison. It seemed as if she were forcing him to divorce her, Ross seemed to be performing magic tricks to a secretary, who giggled. They looked like flirting with each other.
Neville sneered. âYou have poor taste.â
Madison retorted, âPot calling the kettle black.
Ross was a playboy, but Alison wasnât a pure lady. But Neville still fell for her.
The thought of Neville being affectionate with her while possibly embracing Alison at the same time made Madisonâs stomach churn. She had no desire to stay with Neville any longer.
âMr. Preston, if everything goes as planned, Iâll be back to Norton in three days. Weâll meet at the city hall then.â
Neville suddenly laughed coldly. âYouâre so eager to be with him?â
âThe one whoâs impatient is you.â
Alison said she was three months pregnant, and in two more months, she couldnât hide her pregnancy belly.
Nevilleâs face turned cold. âMadison, Iâve given you a chance. If you donât cherish it, donât blame me.â
âThank you for your kindness, but Iâm not fortunate enough to take it.â
æ² Chapter lo Neville said through his clenched teeth, âI hope you wonât find excuses when the time comes.â
âOf course not!â
Madison pushed past Neville and walked toward Ross.
Neville stared at the two approaching figures, his eyes gradually turning cold.
Ross felt a chilling glare behind him and instinctively turned around. When he met Nevilleâs gaze, he couldnât help shivering. âWhy is Neville here?â he asked.
Madison didnât hide anything and said, âHeâs the business partner mentioned by Ryan.â
âWhat? You negotiated with him last night?â
Yes Ross glanced at the love bites on her neck and asked, âWhat happened here?â
âBitten by a dog!â
Madisonâs voice floated over to Neville, and his face clouded over in an instant.
Ryan, leaning against the door, laughed mockingly. âMr. Preston, theyâre gone. Why are you still looking?â
