Chapter 8 69%
âI heard sheâs Emmaâs sister. She just came back home and is starting seventh grade at our school this year,â a student said.
The boy looked shocked. âShe seems about our age. Why is she only in seventh grade?â
âI heard she dropped out before finishing elementary school and never went to middle school, so sheâs starting from seventh grade. Her family was worried sheâd fail the entrance exam for our school, so they used their connections to get her in.â
âSounds like she has some connections, huh? What a pityâpretty but not much else. Emma is still the bestâsheâs beautiful, kind, and smart Justin Jenkins walked by and overheard them. He turned to glance at Elysia. With her flawless skin and striking presence, few could match her grace even in the elite circles of Jorlandia âWhatâs this? Are you smitten?â Leon Harris teased Justin, noticing his gaze was fixed on Elysia.
âJust a pretty face, nothing special. Justin chuckled softly and continued walking Leon glanced back at Elysia, a mischievous smile spreading across his face, âSure, it takes someone special to catch the eye of a top student like you.â
Meanwhile, Emma felt a wave of jealousy wash over her as everyone focused on Elysia. âThis wretch knows how to spotlight.
Just wait! Once they find out youâre just an 18âyearâold country bumpkin who doesnât even finish elementary school, theyâll lose interest real quick.
steal the Elysia wasnât bothered by the stares, but just as she was about to walk away, Emma called out to her. Elysia frowned, feeling a bit annoyed.
âDo you know how to get to Class 6 in seventh grade? Need me to show you the way?â Emma asked.
âNo, thanks.â Elysia wasnât planning to go to Class 6 at all.
Emma added, âAlright. Just a headsâup, thoughâyouâre not wearing your uniform today, so if you run into the disciplinary department, youâd better have a good excuse so you donât lose any points.â
Elysia didnât reply, but her frown deepened. âWhy is she being sa chatty today? If she keeps this up, I might just have to push her away.â
âAnd another thing-â
Elysia quickly walked forward, not wanting to hear another word from Emma. If she kept listening, she might actually lose her cool and create a sceneâshe didnât want to embarrass herself along with Emma.
Elysia then walked through the school while asking along the w. Finally, she found the principalâs office and knocked on a the door.
From inside came a deep, rich voice that belonged to a inidilleted man âCome in,â
Elysia opened the door and saw a striking young man sliting on groomed ryebrows. âElysia? Right! I rememberâyour mom came by yesterday to set up your enrollment. She mentioned you didnât finish elementary school, so we placed you in seventh grade. Is that a problem?â
âYes, actually. I donât want to be in seventh grade.
Levi looked troubled. âLook, jumping straight to twelfth grade needs a strong foundation. Since you didnât complete elementary, itâs better for you to finish three years of middle school first. If you skip to twelfth grade, you might struggle to keep up.â
Elysia insisted. âThatâs not a big deal. Donât you have entrance exams? Just let me take a test and see if I qualify for twelfth grade.
âWell...â Levi glanced at the man sitting on the couch, as if looking for approval.
Elysia noticed this and turned to the man. âSir, what do you think?â
The man looked and up. their eyes met for a brief moment, miking Elysiaâs heart race. âGo ahead,â he said.
With the manâs nod, Levi turned back to Elysia and said, âAlright Iâll arrange for you to take the test. If you pass, you can move up to twelfth grade.â
âThank you,â Elysia replied, then turned back to the man on the couch, silently expressing her gratitude before stepping out of the office.
After she left and closed the door, Levi chuckled softly. âThese days, girls always seem to have their eyes on a handsome guy.
Suddenly, he remembered that Zane hated it when people casually commented on his looks. He quickly added, âBut I didnât mean that, Mr. Hartley.â
Zane frowned. âSo youâre saying Iâm not handsome?â
âNo, no, youâre definitely handsome,â Levi said, sweating under pressure. What kind of day is this? Zane seems to be in a different mood today, not minding the compliments about his looks?
Zaneâs frown finally relaxed. He stood up and headed for the door, pausing to say, âMake sure to set up that girlâs exam quickly.
And remember to send her scores to my email.
âTâll get right on it!â Levi nodded quickly.
Zane then walked out of the office, and his assistant handed him stack of papers.
âWe found her. Her name is Elysia. Sheâs the biological daughter of the Rosewood family. She was living in Silverstream until just a few days ago when she was brought back. The record show she doesnât know Ada at all the msistant reported.
Zane skimmed through the documents quickly and then handed them back to the petitant. Sheâs smart. Things arenât as simple as they seem The assistant looked puzzled. âSo, should we keep digging No need 14:02 Tue, Jan 28 Chapter 8 69%
Milton School was quick on its feet. By that afternoon, they had arranged for Elysia to take the test and gathered the to teacherade her papers.
When the results came in, the teachers were stunned. They doubleâchecked the scores, worried they might have made at mistakeâit was hard to believe there were no errors.
They couldnât help but think, âDidnât they say this girl hadnât even finished elementary school? How could she score so high? Her results are even on par with Justinâs Justin was the genius who had been at the top of the class for six years straight, leaving everyone else in the dust. The teachers were really shocked to find that Elysia could not only compete with him, but even outshine him.
After all, she had taken the test so casually. And the papers were no walk in the park. If she had really focused, Justin might not have stood a chance.
When Levi got the report card, he was equally shockedâhe could hardly believe the scores. He turned to the other teachers and asked, âAre you sure thereâs no mistake in the grading?â
âWeâve checked it several times, and weâre certain thereâs nothing wrong,â one of the teachers replied.
Levi nodded, looking thoughtful. He figured that with the right support, Elysia could easily ace the SATs next year.
âElysia, Iâm fine with you joining the senior year. But we have Advanced Placement tracks here, and you need to choose between the Liberal Arts track and the STEM track,â Levi said, keeping his tone calm.
Wayne Fletcher, the teacher in charge of the Liberal Arts track jumped in eagerly, âElysia! Come join us. The STEM class already has Justin, and having two top students competing against each other might not be ideal.â
Levi shared a satisfied glance with Wayne, secretly hoping Elysia would choose their group. But there was nothing he could do about itâit was her decision to make.
Meanwhile, Lorenzo Hoffman, the head of the STEM group was hoping to snag Elysia for his class too. An extra talent like her could lead to more students landing spots at top universities If Elysia chose Liberal Arts, with the best students from both fields coming from Milton School, it would boost the schoolâs reputation. That would be much more impressive than just adding another name to their list of top achievers.
Just then, Elysia said, âI choose STEM.â
The room went silent for a while.
âElysia, are you sure? Maybe take a moment to think it over?â Wayne suggested, his voice a mix of concern and disappointment.
Elysia shook her head. âNo need. Iâve made my choice âAlright, we respect your decision. You can head to Grade 12, class with Mr. Hoffman now.â Levi sighed, feeling his hopes slipping away.
After Elysia and the teachers left, Levi shared her report card with Zane.
Zane opened it with a sinlleâthis girl was definitely smart.
14:02 Tue, Jan 28 Chapter 8 169 When Elsin arrived at Grade 12, Class 1, the students were busy with a physics lesson. Lorenzo knocked on the door and called out, âMr. Lynn, can I have a moment?â
Walden Lynn, the physics teacher, paused his lesson. Lorenzo then stepped into the classroom with Elysia following behind him.
âClass, weâve got a new girl joining us today, Elysia and encouraging, âWhy donât you and sheâll be in our class from now on,â Lorenzo announced before turning to introduce yourself??
âIâm Elysia. Nice to meet you all, Elysia smiled.
The students stared, their expressions a blend of shock and confusion. They were stunned by Elysiaâs beauty and wondered why she wasnât in the junior class and how she ended up in their senior class, especially with Lorenzo escorting her.
Leon glanced at Justin and teased, âLooks like fate brought you two together.â..
Justin rolled his eyes, equally puzzled. Just moments ago, they mentioned she was in junior class six. Whatâs going on?â
Unfazed by Justinâs annoyed look, Leon kept going, âIs this really what you call âall looks, nothing special? But I see a lot more than just looks here.â
