Chapter 239
Pampered By Power: The True Heiress Returns
Chapter 239 Noticing that the glass contained nearly half, Elysia turned to Holden and instructed, âPlease fetch me a piece of gauze from the wooden box on the shelf.â
Upon hearing this, a flicker of hope brightened Holdenâs face. If he retrieved the gauze, Elysia wouldnât have to bleed anymore.
He hurried over to the shelf, found the gauze in the box, and rushed back, flustered.
Elysia had already applied some medicine to her wound and was about to reach out for the gauze when Holden said, âAllow me to bandage it for you.â
As he spoke, he unwrapped one corner of the gauze, focusing intently on her. Elysia didnât refuse; she extended her hand.
Holden gazed at the long scar on her arm, feeling a pang of sorrow. âElysia, does it hurt?â
âNot at all.â Compared to the pain from Fabian, this slight discomfort felt no more than a mosquito biteâit was hardly noticeable.
After dressing the wound, Elysia picked up a cleaned, dried flower root beside her. She pressed out the moisture, combined the water and blood, then added powder and simmered it over a low flame.
After about half an hour, the antidote was ready, and a smile finally graced Elysiaâs face as she poured the mixture into a glass and carried it to the room.
As soon as she stepped through the door, the othersâ eyes brightened with hope upon seeing her. However, their expressions darkened abruptly when they noticed the bloodied gauze wrapped around her hand.
Javier furrowed his brow. âElysia harmed herself to create the antidote?â As this troubling thought took root in his mind, he gazed at the crimsonâstained gauze, his heart twisting in anguish.
The elders needed no further explanation; with just a glance, they understood what had happened. Although it pained them, they accepted it was all to save someone important to Elysiaâher kin.
Elysia approached Fabian, lifting the glass to his lips. Yet he lay still, suppressing the pain wracking his body. He gently touched her bandaged hand and murmured, âIs this because of me?â
The normally resilient man now had tears glistening in his eyes. Elysiaâs heart softened, and her voice became gentler. âDrink this, and it will counteract the poison.â
Feeling a sharp ache in his heart, he steadied the glass and consumed the remedy.
About an hour later, Fabianâs complexion began to regain its color as the poison subsided. The collective tension that had gripped the group finally began to ease.
Only the woman remained frozen in place, her plans falling apart. She had thought that even if she failed to kill Elysia, taking one of her kin would be enough. Yet, she was astonished that the poison had been countered.
In the end, she had achieved nothing but lost much in the process. Elysiaâs gaze narrowed upon the woman; it was time to settle the score.
Slowly, Elysia approached the woman, squatting before her and pressing her hand against the womanâs wound. The woman winced in pain, her face paling, yet she gritted her teeth and held back any cries.
Beads of sweat dotted her forehead as Elysia smirked slightly. âYou endure quite well. I wonder how long you can keep your composure. Do you understand the consequences of delaying the bulletâs removal?â
The woman bit her lip in silence.
Elysia continued, âThe wound will become infected and rot. If that happens, amputation may be your only option. You look youngâmaybe only eighteen?â
1/3 Chapter 239 The woman held Elysiaâs gaze. Elysia sighed. âWhat a shame it would be to love half prer leg with a young age The woman asked, âWhat do you want from me?â
âI need you to tell me who ordered you to orchestrate this plot. If you do, I will immediately extract the bullet and spare your leg.
What do you say?â
The womanâs eyes turned cold. âThat is impossible âHow loyal you are to your master. I canât help but wonder what sort of rewards they offered you to earn your devotion Maybe I could offer you double if you decide to join my side?
At this, the woman hesitated. She had been raised by her master, without him, she wouldnât be who she was. So, no matter the cost, she would not betray him. Even if it meant death. âKill me Elysia chuckled lightly. âI have a way to make your life more unbearable than death. However, if you give me your masterâs identity, I might consider sparing you.â
Elysia scanned the womanâs eyes, but there was no sign of a response. Elysiaâs smile widened. âYou truly are foolish. Do you think I canât figure out if you stay silent?â
Elysia added, âEven if you refuse to tell me what poison you used, I already know itâs Bone Corroding Powder. I offered you a chance at selfâpreservation, but you donât seem interested.â
âLet me remind you; when I say make your life more unbearable than death, I truly mean it.â Elysia pressed down even harder on the wound. The woman shut her eyes in pain.
Fabian and his brothers observed the entire scene with stoic expressions. In their eyes, everything Elysia did was justified, especially against the person who had poisoned Fabian.
Eventually, the woman fell into unconsciousness from the pain, and only then did Elysia withdraw her hand. Turning to the others, a hint of surprise flickered in her eyes as they showed no signs of discomfort.
She thought, âDid they not find this version of me unacceptable? Having grown up in luxury, they should have envisioned their sister as gentle and charming, untouched by the worldâs crueltiesâmuch like Evelynâ
Though Elysia had never met Evelyn, she could imagine the kind of person she must beâa paragon of grace and wisdom, pure from lifeâs impurities.
Certainly, every beautiful description could apply to Evelyn, and she would far surpass them.
Elysia thought, âThey once had Evelyn as their sister. Their expectations of me must have reflected that image. Yet why did they not show a hint of disapproval? Evelyn and I are completely different.â
Elysia walked the line between virtue and vice, living in the light but hiding shadows within. Many would feel guilty for crushing even an ant, but she could take a life without hesitation.
Elysia wondered, âDid they not fear her?â
âElysia, why are you looking at us so intently?â Javier asked gently.
Finally pulled from her thoughts, Elysia replied, âItâs nothing.â
She stepped into the other room, emerging moments later with a length of hemp rope in hand.
She handed the rope to Phoebe, and her gaze swept over the woman on the ground, prompting Phoebe to quickly grasp her intentions.
Once the woman was securely bound, Elysia was about to lift her when Holden stepped forward to stop her. âElysia, your 2/3 Chapter 239 hand is injured. Let me help you.â
