Chapter 2 69%
You canât expect me to have any manners when I grew up without parents, Mrs. Rosewood, Elysia said, crossing her arms.
âWho are you calling Mrs. Rosewood? Iâm your mother!â Bella snapped.
âFrom what Iâve seen, you didnât act like my mom at all. Seriously, what kind of mom blames her own daughter without getting the full story?â Elysia sneered.
âYouâ Bella was so furious she could barely speak. She raised her hand, ready to slap Elysia.
âEnough!â Scottâs voice boomed, slicing through the tension. He took a deep breath and turned to Elysia. âWhatâs going on?â
Elysia explained everything that had gone down earlier, her voice tinged with frustration. âDad, isnât this my home? Arenât you and Mom truly my parents?â
Scott furrowed his brow. What are you talking about? This is your home, and we are your parents.â
âThen why am I being insulted in my own house?â Elysia pushed back, her beautiful eyes flashing. âYou asked me to come back, but Emma still questions whether Iâm really a part of the Rosewood family. Should I have just stayed away?â
Scott shot a disapproving glare at Emma. âAs the older sister, you should act like one. And is this really how a Rosewood lady.
should carry herself? Who taught you these manners?â
Tears welled up in Emmaâs eyes as she whimpered, Tm sorry, Dad. Itâs all my fault-
âEnough!â Scott interrupted. Looking at Emma, whom he had raised for eighteen years, he couldnât bring himself to really lay into her. He just waved his hand and said, âItâs good you own up to your mistakes.â
Emma turned to Elysia with a smug look, like she was saying, âSo what if youâre Dad and Momâs real daughter? They still got my back. See? Even if youâre in the right, theyâre always on my side.â
âMary, take Elysia to her room,â Scott commanded.
âYes, Mr. Rosewood Mary bowed respectfully and then turned to Elysia. âPlease come with me, Ms. Elysia Rosewood.â
Elysia walked behind Mary until they reached a small room on the second floor of the villa. âThis is your room,â said Mary.
Elysia was taken aback. The room was dark, with no sunlight coming in, and the furnishings were sparse. âAre you sure Iâm supposed to stay here?â she asked, pointing at the gloomy space incredulously.
Mary replied, âYes, and Mrs. Rosewood arranged this herself,â
Elysia felt her heart drop, and disappointment washed over her. Sheâd never placed much value on having parents because her memories of them were too hazy. But what about them? Didnât they feel any guilt or longing for a kid whoâd been missing for eighteen years?
Scott had said Elysia was stolen and abandoned in a forest, and just been abandoned. Otherwise, she shouldâve felt some warm didnât care.
heâd bought that story once, But now, it felt more like sheâd from her parents since stepping into this house they just With that thought in mind, Elysia turned to Mary and asked in chilly voice, âCan I see some other rooms?
Well Mary hesitated.

Sure enough, my voice doesnât really carry weight in this house. If Emma said something like that, Mary would have agreed in an instant. Elysia thought. âTm a Rosewood, arenât I? I donât even get to look at the other roomis?â
Mary shook her head hurriedly. âItâs not like that. This way, please.â
Scott, and the There were only two sunlit rooms in the Rosewood residence. One was the master bedroom of Bella and Scott, other belonged to Emma. Elysia checked all the rooms out and finally stopped at a beautifully decorated one, asking. âWho stays here?â
âThis is Ms. Emma Rosewoodâs room, replied Mary.
Elysia took a closer lookâit was indeed impressive. She could tell a lot of thought had gone into the decor, even though the pink shades were a bit much for her taste. Still, it was way nicer than her own small, barely furnished room.
She glanced at Mary and said, âGet two servants to clear this room.â
Mary looked troubled. âMs. Rosewood, youâre...â
âIâm moving in here.â
âIâm afraid youâll need Mrs. Rosewoodâs permission for that.â
Elysia frowned. Just go get them.â
âYes, Ms. Rosewood.â Mary exited the room respectfully while muttering to herself, She must be losing her mind. This room is specially decorated for Ms. Emma Rosewood, with custom furniture. How could she just take it over?
âEven though she is the biological daughter of the Rosewood family, sheâs too arrogant, showing no respect for Ms. Emma Rosewood. Someone like this isnât fit to be a Rosewood at all.
When Mary went downstairs, the three of the Rosewood family were chatting pleasantly in the living room. Bella noticed Mary and asked, âIs everything settled?â
Mary took a moment to gather her thoughts and then showed an uneasy face. âNo. Ms. Elysia Rosewood is not very happy with the room you prepared.â
âNot happy? Then where does she want to stay?â
âShe wants to move into Ms. Emma Rosewoodâs room.â
âWhat? Sheâs really picky. She must have picked up bad habits from the countryside.â
Scott, overhearing their conversation, felt dissatisfied with Elysia too. The Rosewood family held a prominent name in the city, and having a member behave like this could tarnish their reputation. âLetâs go take a look,â he said, stood up first, and headed upstairs.
Bella and Emma followed closely behind.
Elysia was contemplating which furniture to replace when Scott ppeared behind her, âI heard youâre not happy with the room your mom set up for you. You want to stay in your sisterâs room instead?â
Elysia chuckled softly. âYeah.â
14:01 Tue, Jan 28 U Chapter Scott frowned. Then why not choose another room? Why insist on Emmaâs?â
169%ì âIs it because of what happened in the garden today? Are you holding a grudge against me and trying to make it hard for me on purpose?â Emmaâs voice quivered, sounding like she felt really wronged, Elysia rolled her eve in response.
Bella stepped in to comfort Emma while scolding Elysia, âIf this is about the garden incident, your dad already talked to her. You shouldnât dwell on it.â
âSeriously? Two comments, and thatâs a reprimand? Elysia sneered silently as she began, âDad, you misunderstood. Why would I ever want to fight with Emma?
âThe room Mom set up for me is good. But when I was born, I was left out in the froze all night. Although I was saved, my health isnât great, and I canât stay in a dark, damp roomâit has to get sunlight.
âI checked all the rooms, and only yours and Emmaâs get sunlight Obviously, I canât take yours, right? Then I remembered what Dad saidâsisters should support each other.â
âYou donât mind, do you?â Elysia asked, glancing at Emma nervously as she thought, âDoes Emma think sheâs the one who can be twoâfaced? Humph. Honestly, how does Emma keep this up every day? Doesnât she get tired of pretending?
Emma didnât know how to respond. She didnât want to give up her room, but with Elysia saying that, she felt like she had not choice.
Just as Emma was about to speak, Bella chimed in, âElysia, Emma has lived in this room since she was littleâsheâs used to it Besides, there are plenty of rooms in this house. Canât you pick another? Worst case, we have a villa out in the suburbs, and you could stay there.â
