Zane nodded. “Yeah. I heard you’re heading to Iskoria Villa today, right?”

Elysia nodded, “I’ve got an appointment with Mr. Hartley. We agreed on four days a week, and I need to check in with him regularly.”

Zane said, “Well, lucky for you, I’m heading there too. I can give you a ride.

Elysia said, “Thanks, Zane.”

Ever since she became Vincent’s student, Elysia hadn’t had the chance to properly learn from him. Vincent wasn’t happy about that. He said she was wasting her potential and made a few strict rules–like requiring her to show up at least four times a week.

As Alice exited the school gates, she was a little surprised to see Zane waiting for her because normally, Zane sent his assistant to pick her up, but today he was here in person.

However, when she noticed Elysia standing beside him, it clicked. Clearly, Zane had come himself to pick her up–just because of Elysia.

“Hi, Zane, Elysia,” Alice walked up to them with a sweet smile.

“Alright, get in,” Zane said. Alice rolled her eyes but obediently climbed into the back seat.

The three of them settled into the car, and it drove smoothly down the road. Alice stared out the window, thinking this route seemed familiar–it was the way to Vincent’s house. She glanced over at Zane. “Are we going to Vincent’s?”

Zane said, “Yeah.”

Alice frowned, a little puzzled. She thought, ‘Zane is acting weird. Normally, he avoids visiting Vincent, but this time he is heading there himself. She turned to Elysia, and it all clicked.

She kept wondering, ‘Elysia is Vincent’s student, so it is clear now. Zane has come to pick her up because she is going to Iskoria Villa, and he tagged along to drop off me.

They pulled up in front of Iskoria Villa and got out, walking toward Vincent’s villa. As soon as the door opened, Alice bolted inside and rushed toward the elderly man. “Vincent! I missed you so much!”

Vincent rubbed her hair, smiling warmly. “I missed you too, Alice. Why haven’t you come to visit in so long?”

Alice pouted. “I’ve wanted to, but school has been so busy lately. I just haven’t had the time.”

“Your studies are more important,” Vincent said before his gaze shifted to Elysia and Zane standing at the door. His expression immediately changed. “Elysia, do you remember that you’re still my student?”

Elysia felt a bit awkward at his tone and gave a sheepish smile. “I do, Mr. Hartley.”

Vincent snorted. “If I didn’t set a schedule for you, you wouldn’t even show any initiative. You have to be more self–driven to learn things.

“So here I am. Please don’t be mad, Mr. Hartley,” Elysia said, stepping forward and hooking her arm around Vincent’s.

Vincent smiled and led Elysia to his studio, not sparing Zane a glance the entire time.

The thought of Matthew’s condition sent a wave of fear crashing over Robert. He couldn’t stop trembling.

Rachel was clutching Nora’s wrist tightly, feeling extremely anxious. The last time she was in the hospital, it had nearly terrified her to death. Now, a few days later, she was back here again. She couldn’t imagine what she would do if she lost Matthew.

The light outside the operating room went out, and the three of them, for the first time, felt a glimmer of hope. Rachel rushed forward and asked, “Doctor, how is my husband? Is he okay?”

The doctor looked at their hopeful faces, his own expression grave. “I’m so sorry. We did everything we could.” He bowed deeply before them.

Rachel’s world went black, and she crumpled to the ground. Nora was quick to catch her, but her tears came rushing out uncontrollably. “Mom, hold on!”

Her sobs grew louder, and the pain of the reality hit her hard. It hadn’t even been a month since she returned, and she hadn’t even had the chance to truly spend time with Matthew.

Nora suddenly felt a wave of regret. She thought, ‘If only I had come back earlier or never left the country in the first place, would I have had more time to be by his side?‘

However, no matter how much she wished she could turn back time, he was gone.

Tears streamed down Nora’s face. She had lost the person who loved her the most. Her heart ached with the realization that he was gone, and it felt like a part of her had been ripped away.

Robert was already sitting on the floor, his eyes hollow and lifeless. He wondered, ‘If only I hadn’t stepped out, maybe I could have noticed Dad’s condition earlier instead of waiting for the nurse to find him and rush him to the emergency room.‘

He believed it was his fault. He thought it would be okay to leave for a bit, and now he felt responsible for Matthew’s death. They had planned to hire a care worker, but he insisted on taking care of Matthew himself.

Robert was consumed by guilt and pain. He blamed himself and hated himself for being useless. He punched himself, unable to hold back his tears any longer.

His sobs were tearing through his heart. Matthew had been the person he admired the most growing up, but now he was forever gone.

In the shadows, a girl wearing a leather jacket and sporting a neat short haircut witnessed everything. Her face remained expressionless as she turned and walked away. Finding a secluded spot, she took out her phone and made a call.

“Every time Bella went for a check–up, Scott was rarely by her side. Yet, a few days before her due date, he took her to Jorlandia, claiming it was because of the better medical conditions there.
