Chapter 11 3.69%1 After school that afternoon, Elysia arrived at the school gate but didnât see the Rosewood familyâs car. She raised an eyebrow and waved down a cab. About twenty minutes later, the car pulled up in front of the Rosewood residence.
Elysia got out, walked through the villa gate, and immediately sensed a heavy silence in the air. She guessed another âfamily warâ was about to unfold today.
Just as she expected, as soon as she walked in the door, a cup came flying toward her. She calmly caught it and looked at the group of people sitting on the sofa.
Emma was curled up in Bellaâs arms, sobbing uncontrollably, while Scott was furious, pointing at Elysia and shouting. âYou still dare to come back?â
Elysia chuckled lightly. âThis is my home. Where else would I go? She waved the cup in her hand. âWhatâs going on? Who upset you?â
fer to Grade 12, Class 1?â Scott fired back.
âHow dare you even ask? Why did you transfer to Elysia raised an eyebrow. âYouâre not happy with that?â
Scott let out a cold snort and fell silent.
âI thought youâd be happy for me.â Elysia paused for a while before continuing, âIâm a Rosewood. If people found out I was still stuck in the worst seventhâgrade class, how would that look for the family?â
Scott narrowed his eyes. âThen how did you get into Class 1? Did you pull some kind of stunt?â
Elysia glanced at Emma, her voice cold, âDid Emma say something to you?â
âIt doesnât matter who said it. Just answer meâyes or no?â Scott demanded.
âNo, Elysia replied flatly.
Scott didnât believe her. He frowned, displeased. âYou better be honest. Since you said no, then how did you transfer to senior year?â
Elysia crossed her arms. âI took their exam. They thought I waslented enough to be in the twelfth grade. The principal and the heads of the Liberal Arts and STEM can back me up. If you donât believe me, just call and ask.â
âStop lying to Mom and Dad, Elysia. Thatâs not what you said. You shouldnât lie out of fear. Just listen to me and apologize.
Theyâll forgive you, Emma chimed in, tears streaming down her face.
Bella quickly wiped Emmaâs tears, gently patting her back to comfort her. âDonât cry, Emma. It hurts me to see you like this Elysia smiled slightly. âWhat did I tell you?â
Emma thought for a moment and blurted out, âYou said that whatever I think is true âSo, what are you thinking?â Elysia shot back.
Realizing she had misspoken, Emma was about to explain when Elysia continued, âSo thatâs how you see me, huh? You really donât want me to succeed, do you?:

Scott didnât respond. He took out his phone and called Levi Elysia plopped down on the couch, crossing her legs and looking relaxed, âLook at you! Do you even know how to act like a lady?â Bella scoffed, pointing at Elysiaâs crossed legs.
âWhat does a lady look like? Like Emma, a wolf in sheepâs clothing?â Elysia shot back.
As Bella opened her mouth to retaliate, Scott hung up the phone, his face gloomy.

Emma thought Elysiaâs lies had been revealed, and she couldnât help but feel pleased, waiting for Elysia to get in trouble. But then, Scout directed his anger at her instead. âEmma, is this how you treat your sister?â
Emma was taken aback.
Scott continued, âWhy did you suspect your sister like this? Do you know that your assumptions just got me scolded by the principal at Milton School?â
âWhat did he say!â Bella asked, her brow furrowed.
Scott smirked, âLevi said I donât even know my own daughter. Sheâs such a promising talent, and we almost held her back. Now, I have the nerve to ask him about her.â
Bellaâs expression soured too âIs everything okay then? If thatâs all, Iâm going back to my room. Elysia said as she started to get up.
âHold on!â Bella snapped.
âAnything else?â Elysia turned to Bella, slightly annoyed.
âThis issue might be resolved. But why did you tell the other students that your sister is adopted?â
Isnât that the truth?â
Bella took a deep breath, holding back her anger. âEmma may not be our biological child, but weâve always treated her like one.
She mearis just as much to this family as you do.â
Elysia sneered to herself, âAs much? Sheâs actually held in higher regard.
âForget it, Mom. Donât blame her. Itâs just that so many people a school know Iâm adopted. What if they start looking down on me?â Emma said, tears welling up again.
âDonât worry, Iâll have your dad post something on social media to confirm your identity. Then no one will dare to judge you, Bella reassured her.
âPost to prove what?â A boy with red hair swaggered in, hands in his pockets, looking like a careless rich kid.
Everyone turned to look, and Emina spoke up with excitement, Logant Logan Jackson, the redâhaired boy, didnât reply. He grinned as glanced at Elysia, who was sitting nearby. âBella, is this your daughter who just came back? She doesnât look like a county girl.

Bella cleared her throat awkwardly. âElysia, this is your cousin, Logan. He just got here from Shecrity today and plans to stay with us for a few daysâ
Elysia nodded. âGot it. But honestly, he doesnât seem like the humble and polite type.â
â
âElysia!â Bella shot her a warning look. âBe respectful Logan laughed it off, unbothered. âItâs fine, Bella. She is way more interesting than Emma, he said, then seemed to remember something. âWhat were you saying about posting on Twitter?â
Bella sighed. âElysia mentioned in front of her classmates that Emma is adopted. Emma is worried that people at school will judge her, so I thought maybe Scott could tweet something to confirm her background.â
Logan glanced at Emma, who looked hurt, and frowned. âBella, to be honest, posting that on Twitter is basically just announcing to everyone that Emma is adopted.â
âWell Jasmine fell silent.
âBesides, I donât think thereâs anything wrong with being adopted. As long as she has good character, she doesnât need a label to earn respect. Emma, you believe in your character, right?â Logan asked.
âWhat are you talking about? Of course, I believe in my character. Iâm just worried my classmates will look down on me. because of the change in my identity.â Emma replied, attempting to explain her feelings.
Logan shot back, âWhat does that matter? Havenât you always been the adopted daughter of the Rosewood family? Or do you want everyone to know about it? If thatâs how you feel, I wonât push it.â
âItâs not like that.â Emma looked anxious but didnât know how to explain.
Logan chuckled, âSee? Problem solved.
âLoganâs right.â Scott looked at Bella disapprovingly. âYouâre being too emotional about this. Sharing everything on social media isnât necessary.â
Emma bit her lip, furious inside. âElysia, you ruined everything. Why did you come back? Why are you taking everything from me?â
