Maybe not the Luna
I was excited when school let out. I wanted to drop in on McCoy. He and I didn't get off to the best start, and while I can't feel the mate bond like humans or wolves, I am still attracted to him. We needed to figure out the big stuff, which would be fine. I am sure my family will have some information about this happening before. After I tell them, of course, which will be painful given our family history. My brother and sister will be fine; even my father will get over it. It is my mother that I am concerned about. She knows our family no longer hunts wolves, but that doesn't mean she has to like them.
I was so focused on my thoughts while standing at my car that I didn't notice someone approaching me until I felt a hand on my shoulder. I jumped, spinning in my spot to see two people: Hannah, whom I met at the mixer, and a man who I don't remember.
"I know that you said that you weren't looking for anything, but I was talking about all the new teachers to Sean here, and he said that he would be interested in meeting you, so I thought I could introduce you two," Hannah said. I glanced into her mind and saw that much of that was a lie. She was only talking about me to this man who mentioned that he met a woods girl the other day at the bar and was thinking about finding her. She introduced us to prevent him and me from becoming woods people. I mentally rolled my eyes.
"I'm Sean. Nice to meet you," he reached his hand out to me innocently. He knew nothing of this plan and thought Hannah was slightly eccentric but harmless.
"Roe," I grasped his hand.
"would you like to go get coffee," he asked politely and glanced at Hannah as if trying to get her to leave as she was creepily watching us.
"I have somewhere to go later, but we could get coffee now if that is what you meant," I respond. Hannah clapped her hands together and squealed.
"he is free. That is so cute. You two have fun," she practically skipped away. I was so busy watching her that I didn't notice my hand still clasped in his. I instantly pulled away.
"that woman is completely oblivious to all that is going on in this town," he mumbled.
"what do you mean?" I asked
"Well, the fact that you are a mindreading witch and not a human, for starters, then she doesn't know about nymphs and wolves even though she works with them daily," he responded. His demeanor changed. He wasn't standing as straight, and a smirk now graced his face when he spoke about the other species in town.
"I'm guessing you are a witch since you know about the Silverstone family," I responded.
"I could be a werewolf and be terrified that you will skin me alive." he leaned on my car. He crossed his arms and dared me to contradict him.
"definitely a witch. Werewolves around here either know me or think the Silverstones are the boogymen story to scare kids." I leaned against my care figuring that this was going to be a more extended conversation than I initially assumed
"Guilty, but is it weird that I think it is kinda hot that you are seen as mysterious and scary"
"I would say that probably means that you like a little danger, but sorry to disappoint. I am no monster. And sorry to disappoint again, but I met someone yesterday, and we hit it off." I decided to warn him off now if we had no future hanging out.
"yesterday sounds serious," he had a mocking tone. "How about you get a snack with me and keep your options open for at least a week. I mean, yesterday was only 24 hours ago. I shouldn't be counted out because I was 24 hours late."
"fine, but I am warning you this might not go anywhere." he was sweet and funny, so even though I knew that McCoy was my mate, I agreed.
"Awesome. Here is the address of a diner nearby. I figure since witches can't have a lot of caffeine, a milkshake might be better." he held up his phone with the address so I could plug it into it.
"great idea. I guess I'll see you in a couple minutes." he slid away from my car so I could get in and set up my phone.
"see you in a minute," then he walked to his car. I plan on seeing McCoy tonight, but this might be a good distraction if he gets aggressive again. I guess I'll have to see
