Chapter 35

34. Dreamy..

Heartfelt Whispers

Jai

Anika agreed to a movie date. I really didn't think she'd say yes, but I'm so glad she did. She might be thinking that we'll be going to the theater, but I have different plans. Plans that she might love.

I planned a movie date for us tonight, so I'll stay with her until then, taking care of her and spending time with her like I did before. I made her breakfast; Aarav and Nisha left a few minutes ago, so it was just me and Ani.

Anika left for our room as soon as we had breakfast, and I finished my meeting with the team. Now that Aarav is part of our plan, I worry less about catching Daman.

It was almost 1 pm by the time I finished our meeting and headed to our bedroom; I saw Anika asleep with her laptop on her lap.

When I asked her to take leave for a few days, my princess declined, saying she can work from home. She loved her job. I love how passionate she is about what she does.

I took the laptop and placed it on the nightstand, moving her into the middle of our bed. Then I quickly made us some lunch.

Anika turns hangry when she is hungry, and I didn't want her to be angrier at me even more than before.

When I was done making us food, I served both of us and then went to wake Anika up. She's taking her medication, which is the reason she's sleepy most of the time.

"Anii?" I patted her shoulder. She woke up with a sudden force that I had to hold her so that she doesn't lose her balance.

"What time is it?" she asked.

"1:30," I replied.

"Oh my god, I was in a meeting, and I fell asleep," she replied embarrassed.

"That's fine," I chuckled, and she hit me. "Not funny." and I ruffled her hair.

"Let's have lunch," I said. We were at the dining table, eating. It was just how we did when we got married, but it was also different because Anika barely spoke.

"So, how's work?" I started making a conversation.

"It's good."

"Is the boss still being a pain in the ass?"

"Obviously." she replied, playing with the food. Anika barely ate anything.

"How's your work going?" she asked after a few minutes.

So, I told her what happened. Everything. What I spent doing every hour of every day. About Daman and what Preeti did. When I got to the Preeti part, I could see she was trying to control her anger.

"So she's in jail?" she asked.

"Yep."

"For how long?"

"As long as I wish," I smirked.

But her expressions turned sadder, even though she tried to control them, I could tell just by looking at her posture and tight face.

"Just remember that it doesn't change what I feel about you now." she said, leaving the table.

"I know. I'm sorry," I stood and held her wrist and tried to bring her closer to me.

"You ignored me."

"Unintentionally. I promise to make things right and win you back. When I said I wanted us to give this marriage a real shot, I meant it. I'm never going to make you sad again, baby. I'm yours and you're mine." I told her confidently.

"I'm not yours."

"I'll make you mine very soon then," I winked at her and bought her closer.

Her phone rang; what was with the timing? Now I can't have a few minutes with my wife alone? Oh wait, now I understood what Anika actually felt.

"Of course, you can." I heard Anika tell someone while coming out of the room.

"Who can do what?" I asked.

"Aarav, Nisha, and Varsha want to come over and chill. So, I said yes."

"Ohh, okay." Little did she know, I planned that as a form of distraction.

"Is that okay?" she asked, giving me a skeptical look.

"This is your home as well, princess. If it is okay with you, it's ok with me," I winked at her.

Anika was sitting on the sofa with her book, and I was busy looking at her. After a few minutes, I heard the bell buzz, and when I opened the door all three of them bolted inside as if they were getting attacked by zombies.

"What's up sistaaa? I missed you so much!" Varsha hugged Anika.

"I missed you too, my bachu," Anika hugged her back.

I had to get back to work, so I bid them goodbye and left into the room with my laptop. I went through a few mails and checked everything that was completed, reviewed a few ideas, and then ended the work for the day.

Now, I had to plan the most important thing. Our movie setup. I had asked one of my men to bring a few items that I'll need for today. Fairy lights, we had those in our home. Anika decorated our living room with those on my birthday.

So, when I opened the closet to search for them, a book fell down. When I opened it, I found Anika's bucket list.

The first one was 'See the Northern lights', and an idea struck my mind. We were going to do a lot more when we see the northern lights. Or I am going to, at least.

There was a big cross next to 'Go to her favorite artist's concert'. It was because of me she missed that one. I'll make it up to her. I'll take her to the next concert. Wherever it is.

I'll fulfill all of her wishes. I'll take her to all the places, but the company and buying a car, Anika wants to do that on her own. I'll support her and encourage her with everything I've got.

I quickly got back to work, I took a mattress and arranged the cloth and fairy lights in our spare room. Throw in a few pillows and a blanket. Take a laptop and on Netflix. It is done.

I just want to see how Anika is going to react when she sees this setup.

It was around 8 pm, and I went in to see four of them still chatting and laughing about something. When Aarav saw me, I just nodded my head and he understood the signal.

"We lost track of time. It's 8 pm. Let's go, guys!"

"Yeahh.." Nisha and Varsha carried the act.

"Okay. I'll meet you guys very soon." Anika replied hugging them.

"Heyy," I walked toward her.

"Ready for the date?"

"I'm in my pajamas!" she looked at me in confusion.

"Yeah, that's the point." I took her hands in mine.

"Close your eyes and follow me," I told her.

"Where?" she's so adorable.

"Do you trust me?" I asked her. I really hope that she didn't lose the trust.

"I do." She replied and closed her eyes.

"Then let's go!" with her hands in mine, her eyes closed, I took her to the room which we didn't decorate yet.

"Open your eyes."

When she did, I saw the awe in her face. The way she smiled and her eyes sparkled like I bought a piece of the moon for her.

"You did this for me?" she asked with a big smile.

"I'd do anything for you, baby!" I returned her smile.

We sat down, watching 'Jab we met' because apparently, that movie beats all according to Anika.

She had left a little gap between us when we started the movie, but I broke the pillow barrier and pulled her into my chest. I liked having her here. In my arms.

Fifteen minutes into the movie, our food arrived. Anika wanted to eat Chinese, even though she's still on medication. I tried to talk her into eating homemade food for a few days, but she'd given me those puppy eyes which I can't resist.

Now, here I was, with Chinese food, popcorn – weird combination and her in my arms.

Around the time of the interval, Anika stopped laughing, and I understood that she fell asleep. She's going to feel bad for falling asleep but I was still the happiest person.

Because she chose to be with me in spite of me messing this up. She hasn't forgiven me fully but I have my ways to prove myself to her.

I held her in my arms for a long time and then took her to bed. Carrying her around when she was asleep brought a different type of happiness because she snuggled closer into my chest every single time.

That day, I had the best sleep of my life, with her in my arms, nothing else to lose. Because there's no way I'm losing the only person that matters.
