Chapter 748
Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew)
Chloe nodded. âSure. Itâs still early, so I donât see why not. Letâs get a taxi.â
At that moment, James stopped her. âItâs fine. We have a car.â
âYou have a car?â Chloe asked in disbelief. âWow, it seems like a lot has changed over the years. Back before I left, only the rich guys could afford a car.â
Helen smiled. âWe have two cars. Well, three actually, but one of them was totaled.â
The news shocked Chloe. âYou have three cars? Helen, thatâs a bit of a waste, isnât it? At least save some of your hard-earned money. Donât take out a loan just because you want to keep up with the Joneses. Itâll be better if you work hard and live an honest life rather than exhausting yourself for a fake one. Money doesnât grow on trees, you know.â
Helen smiled awkwardly. âItâs fine. Letâs go.â
Then, Demi said, âMom, we canât. We only have two cars, but thereâs ten of us. Thatâs not enough.â
âWhat? Why?â Helen was befuddled.
Demi shot her a glare. âWe had some wine back there, remember? We need two drivers, so that makes twelve of us, not ten.â
Upon hearing that, realization struck Helen. âOh, silly me. I forgot all about that. So someone has to take a taxi home. Liam, Matthew, why donât you two take a taxi home? Weâll get a couple of drivers for ourselves.â
At that moment, Minerva cut in. âTate and I will take the taxi, Aunt Helen.â
Immediately, Helen objected to it. âBut youâre the guest here. I canât let you do that.â
Minerva waved her off dismissively. âItâs fine. Just give us the location and weâll be right there.â
Left with no choice, Helen told them where her new place was, then the Campbell siblings left.
After they were out of sight, Tate asked, âWhy are we taking the taxi, Minerva?â
Minerva pouted. âReally? Thatâs your question? I thought Mom and Dad told us Aunt Helen and her family are paupers. Even if they can afford a car, I bet itâs a hunk of junk. Those cars are small, cramped, and hard to move around. Iâd rather get a taxi. At least thereâs only the two of us, and thereâs more space to move around.â
Ah, I see. âYouâre smart, Minerva.â
They went to the roadside and stopped a taxi. Once they got in, the driver asked, âWhere to?â
Minerva answered, âThe Grand Garden or something. Know where that is? I can hit them up and get them to tell you the exact location if you donât.â
The driver quickly answered, âEveryone knows where the Grand Garden is, miss. Thatâs one of the most affluent areas in Eastcliff. Every driver worth their salt in Eastcliff knows where that is.â
The news caught her by surprise. âS-Sorry? Itâs an affluent area? The Grand Garden is? Are you sure?â
The driver nodded. âYeah, the one and only. Everyone in there is as rich as can be. And every house is a mansion there. Almost everyone in this city knows about the Grand Garden.â
Upon hearing that, Minerva looked at Tate, confused. âTate, are you sure they told you to head to The Grand Garden? Or am I imagining things?â
Tate scratched his head. âI think so. I mean, you couldnât make that name up even if you wanted to.â
Now, Minerva was truly flummoxed. âWhat is going on? I thought Mom said Aunt Helen used to live in a rickety, leaking house, but now theyâre living in a mansion? Is this some mistake?â
Tate was equally confused about the whole situation, and he wanted answers too.
