Chapter 208
Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew)
Soon, everyone reached home and coincidentally, Liam and Demi were chilling. âMom, Dad, youâre back! Look at the new clothes that I just bought. Arenât they beautiful?â Demi said excitedly.
However, no one gave her a response. Demi couldnât help but feel astonished. âMom, Dad, why are you so quiet? Oh, I bought you some clothes too using that 28,000 from yesterday. Why donât you try it on?â
Upon hearing that, Jamesâs rage erupted immediately. âThatâs enough! Shut up.â
Startled, Demi asked in a trembling voice, âMom, whatâs wrong with Dad?â
Helen sighed. âDemi, do you remember anything about the shop owner when you sold that jade bracelet yesterday? Liam, could you try and locate him?â
Demi and Liam felt astonished. âWhy do you want to look for him?â
After Helen explained the incident of the jade bracelet, Liam and Demi were stunned on the spot.
Yesterday, they were still overjoyed that they earned a fortune by selling off the jade bracelet for 28,000. Unexpectedly, they were actually at a loss!
âMom, did you mishear it? How could a jade bracelet be sold at such an exorbitant price?â Demi asked anxiously. âEven if I were to buy a whole piece of jade and carve a few hundred jade bracelets, it wouldnât be marketed at such a high price!â
James chided angrily, âHow could you compare a bracelet that you carve to that jade bracelet? That is the treasure that belongs to the Queen of the previous dynasty, and it has always been the treasure of the palace. It cost 300 million ten years ago. Now, only God knows how much itâs worth!â
Demi gaped in astonishment and asked in a trembling voice, âW-What should we do?â
James flew into rage. âWhat should we do? What should we do?! Youâre just like your mother, who is good at nothing except asking what we should do. Youâre the one who sold off the jade bracelet, so you should tell me what to do!â
Demi was panic-stricken. âB-But Momâs the one who told me to sell itâ¦â
Helen shouted in rage. âDid I tell you to sell it?â
âIt was you who suggested selling itâ¦â
Seeing that the both of them were about to get into a row, Liam suddenly interrupted, âMom, this is not the time to argue about that. We should come up with a solution to settle this matter first.â
Helen asked angrily, âItâs easier said than done. Do you have any solution?â
Liam glanced at Matthew. âIsnât Matthew close with the Grahams? Why not let him talk to them about this? Matthew, just tell them that you accidentally lost it. Patrick and you are on good terms, so I bet that he wonât make things difficult for you.â
Sashaâs blood boiled in anxiousness. âWhat are you talking about? You are the one who lost the jade bracelet. Why should Matthew bear the consequences of that?â
Liam shrugged his shoulders. âSasha, we have no other choice. After all, weâre not really close to the Grahams. Besides, we have such a huge company. If the Graham Family insists him to pay for it, he canât afford it either. With that, wouldnât our family assets be saved? Matthew, this involves our family fortune. You would be willing to sacrifice a little, wouldnât you?â
Sasha was struck dumb with shock. What kind of logic was that? How thick-skinned did one have to be to be able to give such insensitive remarks?
Matthew looked displeased. âLiam, why go through such a hassle? You are the one who sold the jade bracelet, so you might as well turn yourself in. The worst case scenario is that youâll be sentenced to a few years in prison, which is not quite a big deal. This involves our family fortune. You would be willing to sacrifice a little, wouldnât you?â
Liam muttered softly, âI-Isnât that unnecessary? Why do you have to make me suffer in jail when you can solve it with the ties you have with them?â
Matthew rebutted coldly, âThatâs 300 million. If I couldnât settle it by making use of my relationship with them, wouldnât I be jailed? If thatâs the case, why donât we do things straightforwardly? Youâre the one who did it anyway, so you should bear the responsibility. Even if youâre sentenced to jail, thatâs just reasonable!â
At once, Liam was lost for words, so he bowed his head without answering back. Demi immediately turned to her parents. âMom, Dad, I-I think that my husband has a point. W-We should try our best to minimize the loss to a minimum. If Matthew goes and talks to them, there is a great possibility that he wonât be jailed. Therefore, we should just let Matthew settle it!â
