Saving the one I Love [MxM]|√

Beep. Beep. Beep.

It kept ringing in his ears, tapping his fingers in rhythm to the irritating noise.

It reminded him, it reminded Scott of his stay in the hospital bed. The beeping of the machine which reminded him he was alive.

The smell of antiseptics and cleaning agents made him sick. His whole body ached, the scenes of the incident flashing through his mind, bits and pieces making nothing clear.

Two weeks in a coma and months getting back on his feet. Nothing was ever the same.

The music blasted through his headphones, the television playing some movie he didn't know the name of.

It confused him, trying to keep up with the lyrics but desperately trying to understand the flickers of pictures.

It distracted him from the beeping in his mind, as if the sound was embedded in his head through all his hospital stay.

Scott would constantly press the volume up button on his phone, increasing the already deafening sound of the music when all he was doing was sinking the button out of place.

"Scott" his mother called, pulling a ear bud out his ears. The shorter woman with cheerful blue eyes frowned at Scott. "I've been calling you for ages"

"Sorry" Scott replied half heartily, pausing his music and removing the other ear bud. "I didn't hear you"

He didn't seem to hear much these days, the constant beeping and reminders of his accident. All the sounds he desired not to hear.

"Breakfast is ready" Gianna, his mother said. Her hair done in neat bun and her usual nothing better than a home cook meal  apron, a gift she received from her precious angels ages ago tied around her small frame. She knitted her brows as Scott wrapped his headphones around his phone. Her lips sporting a lopsided frown, ready to do her usual morning speech. "Is it that beeping sound again?"

Scott squeezed his eyes shut, his lips pressing in a thin line. He didn't want to discuss the same thing over and over. "I'm fine"

"We all know what that means" Maddie, his younger sister who couldn't keep her mouth shut said, cradling her baby in her arms as she fed him his formula. "A cry for help"

Gianna rested a hand on her sons shoulder. Facing him to look in his dark brown eyes, searching for the truth.

Scott directed his gaze, her motherly instincts kicking in. "You don't have to lie to us Scott"

"I'm fine mom" Scott assured her, slipping pass his overly protective mother to attempt to eat his breakfast.

"Mornings, evenings and nights" Maddie said, Simon--her son-- resting on her shoulders as she gently patted his back. "That's when it happens right?" She looked to Scott for conformation.

Scott took his seat around the island. Scrambled eggs, bacon and hash brows neatly placed on the plate before him.

If it was any other morning, when his mood was better which wasn't very often, he would dive right into his mothers home made breakfast, savouring the flavours.

"Yes, its happening again" there was no point hiding it any longer. They knew because he told them the moment the beeping started. Keeping him up at nights and causing him distress during his days. "But its stopped now"

One thing Scott noticed was how it would echoed through his mind most days. Sometimes it stopped for days at a time but he found a way to dealt with it and that was never to be left in silence for long, sounds over powdered it.

"I keep telling you to go to the hospital" Gianna rubbed her temple, the situation didn't only take a toll on Scott, it affect his whole family.

"You know he hates hospitals" Maddie pointed out. She was on the taller side of the family, brunette hair just their mother, same brown eyes as Scott and beauty that you would find hard to pass without having to take a double take. "Anyone would if they stayed couped up in that place for so long"

Scott has been in and out, after the incident, staying until he the doctors saw fit he was ready to leave then having to go through rehabilitation for his severely broken leg.

He hated the place.

"Didn't you visit a doctor last week" His mother tried to recall. She stood next to Scott, leaning against the island as she looked between Maddie and Scott.

"He did" Maddie said, jumping lightly as if she found the answer to the most complicated question. "Didn't he say the doctors said nothing was wrong with him"

Scott had indeed visited a doctor last week. The beeping was louder than usual that week and he mustered up the courage to see the white tiled floors and white coats.

The doctor examined him thoroughly only to tell Scott they didn't find anything wrong with him. He had wasted his time, not finding out what was the cause of the beeping.

"Then why do they have a medical degree if they can't tell me what's wrong with my son" Gianna crossed her arms, not the least bit happy that her son had a wasted hospital visit. "I should've went with you so I could tell him off myself"

"I'm old enough to visit the hospital on my own mom" he wasn't a grown twenty four year old just to have his mother go with him on a hospital visit no matter how hard it was.

"You're never too old" His mom squeezed his cheeks, not caring if his mouth was filled with bacon and the likelihood of him choking. "You'll always be my baby. Both of you"

Maddie smiled happily, watching over Simon thinking she'll be just as great a mother as her own. "Didn't all of this happened after that accident with--"

His name was taboo, the name of the man who rained destruction on Scott's life.

"If only I could go back and break him in two like a twig" Gianna hissed, momma bear slowly exiting her cave, breaking an air twig as if it was him. "He hurt my baby so badly"

"Let's beat him to a pulp the next time we see him mom" Maddie added as she stuffed her face with apple slices. "That bastard deserves it"

Scott covered his ears, he didn't want to hear about it. It haunted him every second of his life, how the person he loved could do such a horrible thing to him.

"I don't want to discuss this mom" Scott said, its been two years and he still found it hard to believe. "Its in the pass" and that's how it should remain, Scott wouldn't admit how he felt stuck in that exact moment.

"I know you don't want to talk about it honey" his mother understood very well how painfully it was for her son. "But every time I think about it it gets me so upset. He hit you with his car for no damn reason" her ears turning red from anger.

"Mom!" Maddie exclaimed, telling her it was time to stop. "Scott doesn't want to talk about it"

"Sorry honey" Gianna rubbed soothing circles in his back.

Scott let his fork fell onto his plate. He felt his mind racing, fragments of memories coursing through his mind.

His breathing latched in his throat. Scott could feel the droplets of sweat forming on his forehead, his chest rising and falling heavily, hands shaking as he tried to get up from his seat.

It felt too real, like the black metallic car coming at him full speed ahead. It all went black when Maddie rested her hands on Scott's shoulders.

"Walk me to school" she smiled, helping Scott to stand firmly on his wobbly feet's. "You look like you could use some fresh air"

Scott nodded, the house was beginning to feel clustered and soon to be silent. He could use a walk, take in some fresh air and collect himself.

"Bye mom" Maddie said as she linked her arm with Scott. "Bye Simon" she blew him a kiss. Anymore and she wouldn't want to pry away from her son.

Scott gave his mom a sheepish smile before he vanished out the doors. A world of possibilities awaits him.
