Chapter 86
I Refuse to Divorce!
Zoe could not be oblivious to what was happening. However, she chose
not to argue and left the decision in Mason's hands. After all, intelligent
women did not need to steal the spotlight in such situations.
Everyone assumed Mason would not agree. To their surprise, Mason
extinguished his cigarette, his tone nonchalant as he said, "Let's play.â
In the past, Mason was not keen on such childish games during social
events. Yet, today marked his unprecedented entry into the game.
Zoe sat by his side, gently embraced by him. They resembled an
affectionate couple.
When Zoe was occasionally penalized, Mason would draw her close.
His warm palm lightly touched her delicate face, blatantly displaying
their affection.
Zoe understood that he was doing it on purpose, and she played along.
While everyone in the room bantered, the expressions of the Waldolf
siblings, especially Gregory, grew increasingly unpleasant. This time,
Zoe lost again.
This round was for Truth, with Gregory as the winner asking the
question. Gregory took a sip of strong liquor, his face becoming stern.
Beside him, Leslie noticed something was off and whispered, "Gregory,
take it easy. We've known each other since we were kids. Whatever
you're thinking of doing, it's not worth it."
However, Gregory pushed him away and stared at Zoe, posing a
potentially devastating question, âZoe, do you have someone you like
right now?"
Silence fell over the room. No one was that naive. Gregory's question
suggested he might have feelings for Zoe. This was a forbidden topic
because Zoe was Mason's wife.
Mason seemed calm and unbothered by this turn of events. He even
gently embraced his wife's shoulder. It appeared that Mason had long
anticipated Gregory's intentions.
The first to speak up was Gabriela. She looked at her brother, unable to
hold back, "Greg, have you lost your mind?"
She wanted to pull Gregory away. However, Gregory pushed her aside
and directed the question at Zoe again, "Zoe, do you have someone
you like right now?"
The atmosphere became even more tense. Zoe found herself in a
slightly awkward position.
Gregory was putting her on the spot, and her husband showed no
intention of intervening. She thought that Mason had invited her here to
deliberately provoke Gregory.
Knowing that the best course of action was confessing her deep love
for Mason, she hesitated.
Suddenly, Zoe lowered her eyes and smiled gently. She decided, in that
moment, not to be so rational. She looked at Gregory and gave him a
sincere answer, "No."
The atmosphere froze. No one expected Zoe to respond like this, not
even Mason. His expression was even darker than Gregory's, clearly
affected by Zoe's unexpected answer.
He stood up, still holding onto Zoe, and said with restrained anger,
âLet's go."
Zoe knew he was angry, but she did not regret it. Mason's anger would
likely result in some intense moments between them, but she did not
care anymore.
As they were about to leave, Gregory spoke up again. He said,
"Mason, Zoe doesn't love you anymore."
Mason released his grip on Zoe and looked at Gregory with a cold
smile. "Whether she loves me or not, she is still Mrs. Lockwood. That's
an undeniable fact, Gregory."
Gregory started unbuttoning his shirt.
Gabriela screamed, "Gregory Waldolf, have you gone mad?"
However, Gregory immediately confronted Mason, declaring fiercely,
âI'm not crazy! What's wrong with liking a woman? So what if she's your
friend's wife? Zoe doesn't love you at all. Every moment she spends
with you is just a charade. Why can't you admit it?"
