Chapter 36
I Refuse to Divorce!
Zoe trembled in his arms, sinking into the unpleasant memories of the past three years. She began
to disassociate from her body.
Just as Mason was about to claim her, his phone kept ringing. Annoyed, he grabbed the phone and
glanced at it. It was Ava calling.
After some consideration, Mason answered the call in an unpleasant tone. "What's so important that
you're calling so late?"
On the other end, Ava sounded anxious. She said, "Mr. Mason, Lilith is here in Brookesville."
Mason frowned slightly.
After glancing at Zoe, he got up and walked outside to take the call. Even though Zoe heard only a
fragment of Ava's words, she understood.
Lilith was back in Brookesville.
Mason had finally allowed his lover to step into their home. This was a great humiliation for Zoe,
who was only Mrs. Lockwood by name.
After a few minutes, Mason returned with a slightly tense expression.
Returning to Brookesville with much ceremony, Lilith had been surrounded by reporters at the
airport.
Unfortunately, she fell and broke her leg again. Lilith's parents announced that the Wright family
had ties with the Sanders Group.
This was undoubtedly a huge scandal.
Mason had to deal with it in person and, incidentally, handle Lilith.
While he was getting dressed, he looked at Zoe, who was lying weakly on the bed. He said
nonchalantly, âI have some urgent matters to attend to. You go ahead and rest. I'll send you back in
the morning."
Zoe turned her back to him, not saying a word.
As Mason grabbed his coat, he glanced at her again.
Then, he hastily left. After a moment, the sound of a car starting echoed in the yard. Zoe knew he
would not be coming back tonight.
She could not help but recall the past. Every time Mason went to Hucksburgh to visit Lilith, she felt
uncomfortable, even losing sleep throughout the night.
Now, Zoe found that she no longer cared. She did not care about his indifference, bad behavior, or
anything he did to her. Not loving Mason actually made things much easier.
The sky began to light up.
In the VIP ward of Samphia Hospital, Lilith, dressed in a blue and white hospital smock, leaned
against the bedside. She looked at Mason with eyes full of admiration.
Mason leaned back on the couch, checking his phone. He was waiting to see if Zoe would send him
a message. After waiting for a while without a response, he put his phone away.
Mason had not spoken yet when Ava walked in.
She went to Mason's side and whispered, "The media coverage is all set, Mr. Mason. Don't worry.
Nothing inappropriate will leak out!"
Just as he was about to speak, Lilith cautiously said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Mason. My dad thought we were
dating... He thought we would get married. That's why he said that.â
Mason had not spoken yet when Ava, unable to hold back, retorted, "Ms. Lilith, you seem to have
forgotten. Mr. Mason is already married. From where did you gather the idea that he's dating you,
let alone marrying you?"
Normally, Ava treated Lilith well. She enjoyed using Lilith to provoke Zoe.
However, when Lilith provocatively tested Mason, Ava could not tolerate it. She could not stand
such a low-class woman trying to get involved with Mason.
Agitated, she received a stern look from Mason.
Remembering his warning last time, Ava pursed her lips and stepped back.
Lilith, skilled at reading people's eyes, trembled her lips and appeared tearful.
"Ava, you misunderstood me. I never thought of dating Mr. Mason. I know Mr. Mason is married. He
has been nice to me... It was only because I accidentally awakened him. Really, I just want to cure my
leg, and I want to learn from Ms. Aurora.
"I don't dare ask for more. Ava, you won't stop me, right?â
Ava was almost enraged. Now, she finally realized Lilith's cunning nature. Her innocent words had
underlying jabs.
She looked at Mason, wanting to know his opinion.
Mason was not in a good mood and had a displeased expression. The Wright family had caused
such a big mess, so naturally, he would not be feeling particularly generous.
He looked at Lilith's seemingly innocent face, his tone indifferent.
"Until these two matters are resolved, tell your parents to watch their mouths. They need to know
what to say and what not to say. Understand?"
