Chapter 604
Son-In-Law Madness
Chapter 604 Opportunity Weston was already forty-five years old that year and had been the host and director of the kidsâ
channel for ten years. He thought he would be spending the rest of his life in that manner.
Little did he anticipate this Myles-related incident to happen. What was even more unexpected was Donaldâs decision to let him take charge of the most popular show on Pollerton TV Station.
Weston vaguely felt his long-awaited opportunity had arrived. In truth, he possessed all the qualities a mature director should have. What he lacked were merely a chance and a sponsorâs trust.
After saying that, Weston gazed at Donald nervously. Donaldâs subsequent reply would determine whether Weston would remain an average Joe or attain great success in the second half of his life.
âI think your idea is great. Letâs do as you suggested.â He agreed! Weston said to Donald in excitement, âDonât worry, Mr. Campbell. Iâll do my best!â
Donaldâs affirmation invigorated Weston, prompting the latter to adjust and amend the showâs content and arrangements immediately. Donald glanced at his watch and noticed it was getting late, so he bid Weston farewell and drove home.
The couple couldnât return to their marital residence as they sold the house because Jennifer didnât want to see Leonard and Linda again after they thoroughly broke her heart.
As a result, Jennifer and Donald temporarily stayed inside a condominium they rented under the companyâs name. Hence, the environment there wasnât as conducive.
As soon as he stepped into the house, he saw Jennifer sitting on the couch with her laptop in hand.
She appeared as cute as a bunny in her pink pajamas.
âYouâre back. How did the candidate selection go? Are they pretty?â
âThey will never be as beautiful as my wife, no matter how gorgeous they are.â
He smiled faintly and leaned forward to kiss her.
âDonât do that. Go and brush your teeth first.â
She pushed him away in disdain.
At that moment, he caught sight of the content on her laptop screen from the corner of his eyes and realized she was surveying houses.
âAre you planning to buy a house?â
She pouted and replied to him, âOur previous marital residence was too small and was easily located by my parents. Letâs buy a larger property with a better environment this time to prevent them from disrupting our lives anymore.â
Jennifer wouldâve prioritized Kevin and neglected her own needs in the past.
Their marital residence back then was a prime example. At that time, she could afford a better house, but she figured Kevin would need to get married in the future, so she reserved a larger portion of her money for buying a home for Kevin.
Now that Jennifer was ready to purchase a new house, that means her life perspectives had changed.
She prioritized her and Donaldâs quality of life above all else.
âI think that the houses at Belle Residences are not bad. Why donât we go and check it out tomorrow?â
He stretched out his hand and brushed her nose with his finger. âWhat about our work?â
She snorted before saying, âWork is important, but so are our personal matters. Look at the place weâre staying in now. Most things here donât belong to us and are inconvenient to use. For example, the water heater is faulty at times. The landlord will benefit if we change it, but if we donât, weâll have to endure the fluctuating temperatures when we shower. Jeez!â
As she lamented, Donald kissed her while she wasnât paying attention.
âSure. Iâll accompany you to check out the houses tomorrow. Iâll buy whichever property you prefer without hesitation.â
âArgh! Didnât I tell you to brush your teeth first?â
Jennifer raised her hand in a pretense to hit him, but he had already dodged to one side while laughing heartily.
Early the next morning, Jennifer drove Donald to Belle Residencesâ sales gallery.
There were plenty of high-end properties in Pollerton, but Belle Residences was the only project offering ultra-spacious mansions.
