Chapter 603
Son-In-Law Madness
Chapter 603 Idea Myles was confident he was the best variety show director in the whole of Pollerton. Changing the director would undoubtedly affect the showâs quality, but the crucial point was the degree of the impact.
âMr. Weston Tanner.â
âWho? Weston Tanner?â Myles thought the name sounded familiar, but he couldnât recall where he had heard of that person. Fulbert hurriedly reminded, âMr. Carling, Weston is also part of the television stationâs crew. He was the host as well as the director of Happy Time Machine.â
Mylesâ memory was jogged at Fulbertâs words. Pollerton TV Stationâs kidsâ channel was the worst among all the television networks, not to mention Happy Time Machine was aired during the five oâclock evening time slot when most of the kindergarteners were getting off school.
As the showâs target audience was children, the backdrop, makeup, and other settings of the show were very simple. Hence, most of the preparation could be done by one person.
Therefore, Weston struck others more like a person tasked with menial, insignificant jobs rather than a director.
Myles laughed out loud. âI thought you hired someone incredible, but now I know itâs just Weston, that good-for-nothing. Since Pollerton TV Station has succumbed to such a pathetic state, I have no reason to stay anymore. Letâs go, Fulbert.â
âWait a minute, Mr. Carling. Youâre able to jump ship, but what about us?â âThatâs right, Mr. Carling. We followed you and quit our jobs because we believed in you. What should we do now that youâre leaving?â
Myles was a famous director, so it wouldnât be difficult for him to find a job at another television station.
As his assistant, Fulbert had all the reasons to tag along with Myles.
That left the other crew members in a tough spot because they couldnât return to Pollerton TV Station, and the other television stations might not want to hire them.
After all, the other television stations wouldnât dare to hire employees who quit their jobs when the company was caught up in a dire situation.
The film crew members wanted Myles to provide them with an explanation. To their surprise, he gestured for them to quiet down and said, âEveryone, calm down. I believe everyone here is familiar with Westonâs standard. All of you need to be patient and wait for another day until the showâs television rating is out tomorrow. I believe Mr. Duncan will reconsider his decision about laying off all of you.â
After hearing that, the other employees didnât dare to do anything to Myles, regardless of their dissatisfaction.
After all, Myles was different from them. He was someone reputable. âThatâs enough. Youâre all dismissed. Weâll wait for the results tomorrow.â
Following Mylesâ departure, the film crew members didnât have someone to lead them, so they soon went their separate ways.
Donald returned to the studio. At that moment, Evelyn and Zoey had changed their outfits and were discussing the script with Weston.
âHow is it?â
Donald walked up to Weston. The two girls immediately greeted him.
âMr. Campbell, although this is my first time working on such a popular show, I have some different ideas in mind.â
âGo ahead.â
âIn the past, whenever Myles hosted this kind of show, he would focus on the guests, constantly relating all the topics and contents of the conversations to the guests to display the perfect side of the guest to the viewers.â
âIs there a problem with that?â Donald asked while wearing a frown.
âThere isnât any problem because traditional variety shows have been carried out in this manner all along.â Weston adjusted his glasses before continuing, âHowever, your goal is to promote your new entertainers, isnât it, Mr. Campbell? In that case, I think we shouldnât focus on the guests for the subsequent episodes of this show. Instead, we should create fairer segments, so everyone on the stage has a chance to display their appeals.â
He licked his dry lips and added, âI can guarantee a show like this will be more attractive to the public, but this new idea might stir up more dispute and trouble.â
