Her way of speaking, while polite, was intimidating.

I held my pounding chest with my right hand and shakingly fabricated a smile in response.

“I couldn’t fall asleep, so I wanted to take a short evening walk…”

“I see, but it’s dangerous going by yourself, you know.”

“If you can’t sleep, I have some excellent herb tea. Should we have some together?”
