Chapter 862
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott
That smile stabbed Eugeneâs heart.
He could barely control himself as he opened the door, got out of the car, and walked toward those few people.
Melanie was the first to notice Eugene. She was tidying up Meredithâs clothes, but when she saw Eugene, the smile on her face vanished.
Xander noticed him and instinctively stood in front of Melanie. Seeing Xanderâs natural protective gesture, Eugeneâs expression turned colder.
Everyoneâs expressions did not look too good, except for Meredith in Xanderâs arms. She glanced at one person and then another before finally smiling at Eugene.
Eugene was stunned, and some part of his heart softened. He was just about to reach out and hug her when he saw Xander turning Meredith in another direction.
As Eugene was about to speak, he heard Melanieâs icy voice. âWhat are you doing here?â
The vigilance in her eyes made Eugene momentarily silent, and the anger in his heart also subsided.
He looked at Melanie. âI need to talk to you.â
Melanie was straightforward. âI donât want to listen.â
Eugene felt sad but still said, âI heard you went to LeapCo yesterday.â
Only then did Melanie raise her eyelids to look at him. She then said to Xander, âCan you wait with Meredith over there? I need to talk to him.â
Xander glanced at Eugene before nodding. âSure. Let me know if you need anything.â
Eugene watched Melanieâs obedient demeanor and heard Xanderâs words. A selfâdeprecating smile slowly spread across his lips.
Melanie used to be like this in front of him tooâobedient and wellâbehaved. Even if she were angry, she would not look at him with such cold eyes. When did things change?
Eugene did not dare to think about it.
âSo, what do you want to tell me?â Melanieâs cold voice interrupted him. She stood in front of him, her expression indifferent.
Eugene closed his eyes. âYou saw Cedric yesterday, didnât you? He knows about Meredith. Sooner or later, heâll come after you.â
Eugeneâs voice carried disgust when he mentioned Cedric, something Melanie found hard to ignore.
âI canât always pay attention to whatâs happening on your end, so if he asks to meet you again, donât agree,â he continued. âAs for William, donât have too much contact with him either.â
Chapter Bed After listening to all he had to say, Melanie asked, âIs that all?â
Eugene looked at her, and she said, âIf thereâs nothing else, then Iâll leave.â
312 âMelanie.â Eugene grabbed her wrist, his voice heavy. âEverything I said is true.â
Melanie glanced at the hand he had grabbed, her voice faint. âI didnât say it was false.
âBut so what?â She scoffed lightly. âIf I hide from Cedric, will everything be fine? He has ways to find me, doesnât he?â
Eugene tightly pursed his lips, not saying anything.
There was a hint of mockery in Melanieâs eyes. She shook off Eugeneâs hand. âDonât bother telling me such nonsense, Eugene. Donât treat me like a fool.â
After saying that, she left. After a few steps, she stopped and looked back at him. âDonât use your alternate account to message me anymore. Itâs childish and boring. Iâm not interested in whether itâsâ 1â
or â2â. Iâve asked around, and no one in Nava knows Mr. 2.â
