Chapter 802
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott
Moreover, the one who gave in first would undoubtedly have to pay a higher price.
Eugene could have waited a bit longer. Lee felt it was a pity.
Melanie could not get out of bed to walk around but could use a wheelchair for a stroll.
Xander draped a thick blanket over her with a worried expression on his forehead. âIf you feel cold, we can go back.â
Melanie shook her head. She had been in the ward for half a month and felt quite bored.
Tugging at the blanket on her legs, she asked Xander, âDid the situation in Oskon City cause you trouble? I guess weâll have to ask Oliver to make another trip there,â
Originally, Melanie had scheduled a trip back to Oskon City to handle Redwavesâ affairs. However, Oliver had to go to her place due to the car accident.
Seeing that her blanket seemed to slip and considering her bandaged hands, Xander crouched in front of her and adjusted the blanket for Melanie.
Their eyes met, and the distance between them shrunk. Xanderâs minty fragrance spread through the air, overpowering the disinfectant smell.
Melanieâs skin looked somewhat pale under the sunlight. She blinked a couple of times and said softly, âThank you.â
Xander grunted in response, gazing gently at Melanie. Suddenly, he smiled and asked, âWhy are you thanking me?â
Melanieâs wounds were healing slower than expected, and her overall health had deteriorated.
Despite Xander taking various precautions when bringing her out for a stroll in the garden, she still caught a cold.
Now, she was required to rest in the ward, with Yvonne checking on her daily.
âXander spoils you, but I wonât. You went out there when your body was still weak. Do you know itâs easier to catch a cold in spring?â Yvonne scolded Melanie, then sighed softly.
She propped her chin up and looked at Melanie, saying, âYouâre lucky. If you had gone for a stroll a day later, you mightâve encountered that scumbag, Eugene.â
Unable to hold back her words, Yvonne began complaining about various things.
Eugene was also hospitalized due to a gastric hemorrhage, and he was just downstairs.
Yvonne cautiously looked at Melanie. âIâm telling you this just to remind you not to go downstairs again.
You know how shameless he is. If he pesters you again, itâd be bad for you.â
Melanie said, âI wonât go downstairs anymore.â
When Yvonne entered the ward, she did not close the door tightly enough. Both of them did not notice a figure that stood frozen at the doorway, Yvonne had something to do in the evening, and after she left, a nurse entered the ward to check on Melanie.
Melanie wanted to get a book from the cabinet to pass her time. However, she found it inconvenient due to the bandages on her hands.
Frowning, she was about to ring the bell for assistance when someone walked in through the door.
Eugene handed her the book from the cabinet without saying a word. There was still an intravenous needle attached to the back of his hand.
Melanie looked at the book but did not take it.
Eugene stared at her, a hint of hesitation flashing in his dark eyes. His throat was too dry to speak, but he asked, âIs there anything else you need?â
After a long silence, Melanie said, âGet out.â
