Chapter 611
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott
Melanie frowned upon hearing Howardâs demanding tone. It did not matter if- Eugene was her boyfriend or not. Howard had no right to tell her what to do.
The attitude of him trying to control her as her parent and mentioning he was her father annoyed her. Did he ever carry out his responsibility as her father?
Melanie suppressed the discomfort she was feeling and said coldly, âI have the freedom to date anyone | want.â
Howard seemed displeased, but he tried to use a gentler approach when talking to Melanie. âIâm sorry, Mel. My attitude was bad just now. | shouldnât have spoken to you like that, but Iâm just concerned.â
(
Then, he glanced at Eugene in disdain before patiently persuading Melanie, Mel, you have to trust me. Iâll never be wrong. This man is poor, and dating him will do you no good.
â| donât want you to suffer in the future. Why donât | introduce the son of one of my business partners whoâs the same age as you? I'll invite him for lunch. You and him can get to know each other.â
Howard took out his phone without even caring about Melanieâs opinion.
Melanie took a deep breath and looked at Howard as she snapped, âI have work to deal with. Goodbye.â
âMel...â Howard stopped her. He put on a stern and helpless expression. He sighed. âWhy donât you resign and work in my company? Your job will be easier there.*
Melanie looked at Howard sarcastically.
She said, âFrom the moment you met me, youâve been addressing yourself as my father. But have you ever missed me all these years?
âHave you ever thought of us, who you dumped in Jepton?
âYou said you care about me, but have you forgotten about how | couldn't reach you in the summer of my middle school year?
âIf you cared about me, you wouldn't be ignoring the fact that Iâm in the hospital because | might be ill. You didnât even care to ask what job was before asking me to resign.â
Melanie said those words calmly but clearly. Howardâs expression changed.
He looked at Melanie. âAre you blaming me for not visiting you all these years?â
Melanie no longer felt anything toward this man. She said, âItâs all in the past.â Howard pointed at Melanie with disappointment and sadness. âMel, how could you say this to me? | missed you every day! | couldnât go back to Jepton! How could you hate me so much?â
Howard dragged his voice, yet Melanie had already ignored him and left.
She feared losing control of her emotions if she kept talking to Howard.
How could she not hate him?
She had lost her father for years. Suddenly, he appeared and told her he loved her. Who would believe that?
After they left the hospital, Melanie took a deep breath of the fresh air and felt better.
She looked at Eugene beside her and said, âThank you.â
She was thanking Eugene because he spoke up for her. He said the words she had been wanting to say.
Eugene said casually, âI was in a bad mood.â
Melanie asked, âAre we going back to the hotel now?â
âYes,â Eugene answered. He did not hide his emotions.
Melanie understood why. Eugene had always been clean and cared about his image.
It might be the first time in his life he was in such a pathetic state. It was no wonder he was a little irritated.
Melanie hailed a taxi and texted Lee, telling him she was heading back to the hotel with Eugene.
