Chapter 6
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott
The banquet was on the weekend. Eugene said that he would take Viola there, so Melanie did not interfere.
She organized all the Information Into a document and emailed it to Viola.
Viola was a new intern who had to work and read up on the banquet, so she was a little overwhelmed.
Melanie recalled Eugeneâs reminder, so she took the initiative to ask Viola, âDo you need help?â
Viola was stunned. Melanie looked at her calmly and said, âThere are many guests at the Litman Manor. | have sent the list to your email. Make sure you remember everyoneâs preferences and remind Eugene when the time comes.â
Viola nodded repeatedly with a flattering smile on her face. âThank you, Melanie.â
âNo problem. Donât be too nervous.â Melanie added, âEugene will take care of you.â
Violaâs face turned red at the mention of Eugene. She bit her lip and returned to her desk with the document.
Melanie did not say anything. She sent the information she had just compiled to Eugeneâs work number.
After Eugene reminded her, Melanie never contacted Eugene through his personal number again.
She s sent him the document and scrolled down to realize that Eugeneâs personal WhatsApp profile picture had been changed to a rabbit.
It had only been a few days since Eugene took an interest in Viola.
Melanie remembered when she wanted Eugene to change the gray avatar on his WhatsApp profile picture, but Eugene only said that it was too troublesome.
In the afternoon, the front desk called and said that a client had just arrived, Melanie asked someone to get the conference room ready and went to inform Eugene.
Eugene nodded and followed Melanie to the conference room.
When he passed by Violaâs desk, he tapped on her desk and said in a low voice, âCome to the conference room.â
Eugeneâs intention to train Viola had spread throughout LeapCo. Everyone was secretly gossiping that Melanie had fallen out of favor.
Melanie did not care much about these remarks. She followed Eugene to meet the client and whispered to Viola, âGo and bring some tea.â
Viola brought over the tea. When she noticed how natural Melanie and Eugene were when dealing with the clients, her expression stiffened.
After the client left, Viola said indignantly, âMelanie, Mr. Scott, Iâm going back first.â
Melanie looked calm.
Viola glanced at Eugene in frustration and turned away.
Melanie and Eugene were left in the conference room. Melanie frowned and thought for at moment before she asked, âHave you thought it through? Do you really want to take her to the banquet?â
âWhy not?â Eugene rubbed his temples and said, âGet Lee to accompany me to meet with clients from now on.â
Lee was another secretary in the presidentâs office who had always been responsible for internal issues within the company.
Melanie understood this arrangement when she thought of Violaâs aggrieved and inferior look just now.
She could not help but sigh. âYou're too kind to her.â
Eugene did not deny it. âSheâs young, so | have to protect her.â
âSpeaking of which...â Eugene thought of something and said to Melanie, âYou should help her pick a dress. I'll pay for it, but tell her that she can get a reimbursement from the company.
Melanie never knew that Eugene could be so attentive. She nodded stiffly and replied, âI'll ask her if she has any dresses that she likes.â
When they were about to get off work, Melanie came back with several dresses of various styles, wanting to ask Viola if there was anything she liked.
As a result, before Melanie entered the office, she heard Violaâs aggrieved voice saying, âMr. Scott, you should just take Melanie to the banquet. | canât do anything well. Iâm afraid I'll embarrass you.â
Melanie stood at the door and did not walk in.
Eugene said, âSheâs just an employee, but youâre my girlfriend. Who do you think would embarrass me more?â
Melanie lowered her eyes.
It turned out that she was merely an employee in Eugeneâs eyes. 1
