Chapter 487
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott
Chapter 487 Melanie looked down for a while before picking up the call.
Henry's concerned voice was heard immediately. âAre you still outside, Mel?â
Melanie looked at the pouring rain. She could tell that Henry was very concerned for her. She was silent before saying, âYes, Iâm outside.â
âWhere are you? I'll get Eugene to pick you up. You shouldnât be driving in this weather. Itâs not safe.â
Henry said almost immediately after Melanie replied.
Melanie pressed her lips together. She did not want Henry to know that she was with Eugene.
She swept a glance at him from the corner of her eye and saw Eugene staring at her emotionlessly. However, there was a cold taunting look in his eye.
Melanie was taken aback. She immediately wanted to tell Henry that she did not need Eugene to pick her up when she suddenly heard Henry cough violently through the phone.
It sounded like Landon was trying to soothe him and feed him his medicine.
Melanie frowned immediately. âAre you alright?â
Henry coughed in a low voice, sounding quite weak. âIâm fine. The rain is too heavy, Mel. You should take care of yourself. Donât reject that rascalâs ride because youâre mad at him.â
It sounded like Henry had trouble even speaking. Melanie wanted to say something, but Landon had hung up hurriedly.
She looked up and met Eugeneâs impatient eyes.
He said in a low voice, âArenât you tired of pretending to be docile and obedient in front of the Melanie?â
old man, There was a cold look in his dark eyes. âMust you be this way? Are you only happy when everyone starts begging you?â
Melanie was initially hesitant about her decision when Henry called her, but she immediately came to a decision. Her expression remained stoic as she looked at Eugene.
âWere you even begging me for anything? You've always enjoyed being full of yourself and thinking you're the one whoâs charitable.â
She looked at him. Her beautiful eyes looked gentle under the warm tone of the restaurantâs lighting.
Melanie smiled sarcastically. This is really pointless.â
She did not need anyone to beg her, and she felt she had never put on any act in front of Eugene.
Why should she tolerate his unfounded accusations over and over again?
She was here for work, and she even arrived in proper business attire. Her hair fell freely behind her back.
Carla looked at Melanieâs skinny frame and glanced at Eugene. âJust listen to yourself. You're really your motherâs son.â
Melanie did not actually plan to leave so early. She had just gotten to the lobby at the door when she heard the shocking sound of how heavy the rain was. It sounded like someone was pouring water down from the sky.
With the weather like this, it would be difficult for Melanie to get to the hotel.
3 AB FE This was especially true when there were no cars on the road.
It looked like the rain was not about to stop anytime soon.
Melanie took out her phone and frowned as she looked outside.
When Xander called her, someone had just walked in through the door. He came in wet from rain, and some of the water splashed on Melanieâs arm.
It felt cold.
Xanderâs low, magnetic voice was heard against a background of thunder rumbling. âAre you on the way home now?â
âlm still at the mall.â
Xander paused before saying, âThe rain is too heavy right now. It won't be safe for you on the road. Iâm coming to pick you up.â
Melanie rejected his offer. âYou donât need to do that. I'll wait until the rain dies down a little. If it continues raining, I'll just book myself a hotel room nearby for the night.â
Xander wanted to say something when a loud thunder was heard.
