Chapter 280
How My Ex Became My Next by Kirk Stanley ( Gilda Lynch )
After the introduction, Gilda promptly greeted. âHello, Dr. Peterson.â
Alex offered a wry smile. âWell, Jackson! Making a fuss over such a minor injury, bringing her to the emergency room? Anyone would think you were on deathâs â
Relieved to hear Jackson was alright, Gilda expressed her gratitude. âItâs good to hear itâs nothing serious. Thank you, Dr. Peterson.
Alex approached with gauze and lodine to treat the wound, advising, âItâs a small matter, Just be more careful next time and try not to fall again.â
Once the treatment was finished, Alex told Gilda, âAll done, Ms. Lynch. You can go to the reception to pay the fees now.â
âOkay.â Gilda then stepped out.
Watching her leave, Alex couldnât resist teasing Jackson. âIf Iâm not mistaken, thatâs the Gilly youâve been pining for, right?â
His tone was certain, as if he had stumbled upon juicy gossip, then continued, âYou clearly lack experience in love. No wonder youâve been chasing her for years without success. Thatâs not how you win someoneâs heart.â
Jackson cleared his throat, asking for advice, âDo you have any suggestions?â
The humility from Jackson was almost historic.
âYou donât sound like the Jackson Moore I know.â Alex chuckled. âNo worries, I can give you couple of tips. Love requires dedication, and yes, leveraging a womanâs compassion can work too.
âBut from what I see, she cares deeply for you. Put in some effort, and youâll win her over soon. Iâm waiting to attend your wedding.
Exiting the hospital, Jacksonâs arm was now bandaged.
It was o
only a minor wound, but Alex insisted on bandaging it to make it seem like a big deal.
Jackson thought it was a making a mountain out of a molehill and wanted to remove the bandage, but Gilda stopped him. âJackson, your wound has just been treated. Donât move it around, and keep it dry. Let your assistant handle things.â
Jackson ceased his attempt to remove the bandage, finding the bandage suddenly not all that redundant. âAs you said, Ms.
Lynch.â
As they were talking, the sound of an ambulance approached, stopping nearby.
A nurse wheeled a patient out, and Gilda glanced over to see it was Emily.
Gilda and Jackson exchanged a knowing look, their thoughts aligned.
Jacksonâs expression turned cold. âWe will not let this matter rest so easily.â

Emilyâs condition was dire.
The Injuries from the horse trampling, compounded by the car crash, had left Emily in a vegetative state.
Eric delivered the news to Gilda right after she finished a meeting. âThe police are involved, and preliminary findings suggest this wasnât an accident. Emily is suspected of attempted murder and is currently in custody.â
Gildaâs reaction was measured, everything falling within her expectations. âWhatâs the Harrington familyâs stance?â
âThereâs been no action from them yet. But to avoid implicating Harrington Corporation, Jensen has suppressed the news.â
âLet the lawyers handle the followâup.â
âYes, Ms. Lynch.â
Back in her office, Gilda then remarked. âThe Llandre project involves two major sectors, crude oil and mining.â
