Chapter 237
How My Ex Became My Next by Kirk Stanley ( Gilda Lynch )
Chapter 237
âBut Gilda, I heard that Iâve heard that you became the CEO of Glory Corporation. Itâs really amazing. My husband Tanner got laid off during a mass layoff a while back. Do you think Tanner could work for Glory Corporation?â
Gilda didnât answer her.
However, Britney didnât feel embarrassed at all. âTanner was a team leader before. I think he could even work for Glory Corporation as a manager.â
Marilynâs face darkened at her remarks.
Gilda said, âWhat are you talking about? Tanner is a Harrington family member. It should be easy for Harrington Corporation to get him a job. My company is too small to hire a bigwig like that.â
Her speech sounded harsh.
Britneyâs expression instantly changed after Gilda pointed out her weakness. She wouldnât feel as ashamed if Tanner could work for Harrington Corporation.
Tanner wasnât capable, so Jensen refused to let him work for the company.
Although Gildaâs comments were true, Britney found them offensive and said, âGilda, donât be so arrogant! All I ask is for you to give him a job. How can you turn me down? No wonder Jensen dumped you.â
âBritney!â Marilyn yelled sternly.
âShut up. Stop messing around.â Marilyn thought that Britney was spoiled.
Britney was unwilling to give up. âMom, I just want her to do me a favor. We are family, arenât we?â
âHow can you be so shameless?â
Britneyâs expression darkened at Marilynâs words. With a snort, she left in dejection.
Marilyn then hurriedly apologized, âGilly, donât take her words to heart.â

Gilda shook her head. âItâs okay, Marilyn!â
Britney didnât matter to her.
âMarilyn, this gift is for you. I wish you happiness and longevity.â Gilda took out the gift box: she had brought and handed it to Marilyn, but Jensen grabbed it instead.
âWhatâs inside? Let me take a look.â Upon saying so, Jensen opened the box to reveal a green pearl necklace, which appeared to be extremely valuable.
âGilda, youâre becoming more and more tasteful,â Jensen .
Gilda responded calmly, âI do have better taste than before.â
This was a pun, and Jensen fully got it.
Marilyn grinned and said, âThank you for your kindness, Gilly. You are such a sweet girl.â
âYou are welcome. Youâve been taking good care of me over the past three years, and I am grateful for that. Everything is going well with me now. You donât have to worry about me.â
âThatâs great to hear!â Marilyn nodded and took her hand.
Britney was furious because Gilda, who had become wealthy and powerful, had rejected her in front of a large crowd, making her feel embarrassed.
But because of Gildaâs status, Britney didnât dare to do anything to her but sulked in private.
Aunt Britneyâ¦â Emily came over and said.
When Britney saw Emily, she said unfriendly, âWhat are you doing here? Leave me alone.â
However, Emily remained in place. She turned around and glanced at Gilda, who was in the hallway surrounded by people. Gilda didnât have a say in the Harrington family in the past, and few of them her seriously. None of the family members regarded Gilda as Jensenâs wife.
